The Titans' over-investment into displays of power such as the 30 Bunch seemed to use mostly Tarkin's "rule by fear" strategy (which was, in fact, the main idea behind the Death Star and its successor projects).

Note on the "Delta Gundam", the Type 100 ended up as it is because it WAS the Delta Gundam. The real reason it became non-transformable was because... AE couldn't get it to work correctly at the time, so in the end the transformation mechanics were removed. You can see parts of an MA mode still on the Type 100 because of this, and in fact AE didn't give up. AE would make a second attempt that resulted in the Methuss, and THAT was the predecessor to the Zeta. They also tried to do the Delta Gundam AGAIN, and THIS TIME they succeeded, ending up with the Delta Plus, a Type 100 that has an MA mode.

ok can anyone tell me what makes a transformable machine so good in space? i understand the idea for an atmospheric unit to have high mobility and range, but in space? all you really need is MORE BOOSTERS, adding transformation doesnt really fix any problem. and dont get me started on divisible transformations, seriously, aside from once in a life time suicide bomb, what does that actually adds?

@@marcosdheleno The Waverider mode give the MS more mobility in all terrain and doesn't need more any additional booster on it. And more booster doesn't help anything. It just help you to travel faster in long distance and more travel distance, nothing else. As you can see in Gundam Unicorn, More booster attached to MS/MA mean more weakness and easily become target real fast.

Sure additional booster help in mobility too. But think about it. -Additional booster, more visible target on body, add more weight, need more booster to maintain the speed, looping. So if you think about it, Waverider mode is good thing to have on MS. Faster, lighter, cost less money and resource to build and it is better than additional booster about 3D movement.

mine is a non UC ms that non existent, the OO Quanta Full Saber. According to sources, the Full saber is a simulation Veda created to see the combat ability and performance of Full Saber against the ELS, but never produce due to lack of data on the ELS.

The Full saber was actually manufactured , but was not installed due to focus of this machine- understanding with each other. The saber was also made to balance out the left shield unit, but was proven to be useless as 00 q can balance out itself without such part. Veda simulation also shown that the 00q full saber with setsuna’s piloting can eliminate the entire els compound with a week without sleeping (00V battlefield record ep14)

I've been a Gunpla builder since the late 80's. I first saw the Deep Striker as a 1/144 garage kit in the 90's. I was an avid garage kit builder back then: 1/144 Re-Gz back Weapon, 1/144 Nu Gundam Heavy Weapons, all before Bandai made their own. The story that I heard was that the model was so popular in the garage kit market that Bandai decided to license the design to get their cut. The appearance of the Deep Striker in SD Gundam games came soon after. Of course, the internet wasn't as mainstream as it is now, so that story could just be a rumor. But it's what I knew since the 90's.

The G-Armor was part of the original TV series and was piloted by Lt. Slegar. The TV series had several glaring problems with it (see Guntank in space), and when Bandai released the movie versions of Mobile Suit Gundam the G-Armor was replaced with the Core Booster (and a second Guncannon replaced the Guntank during space missions.) It did exist, being retconned doesn't change that.

The Char's Rick Dom is a odd case as it did kind of exist. Tomino's novelization of the original Gundam (more a alternate take on the whole thing) saw him using it instead of the Gelgoog.

I think it's worth mentioning that the Delta Gundam was not the end of the MSN-001's legacy. About 20 years later, a different version, the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus would be made, the single unit piloted by Riddhe Marcenas. While the beam coating was removed, the Delta Plus managed to fix the transformation mechanism. It was equipped with a Beam rifle, as well as a shield mounted with a grenade launcher and beam cannon. It was also capable of unassisted atmospheric reentry. And finally, we have the MSN-001X Gundam Delta Kai, which, out of the three, was the one that looked the most like a Gundam. It came with a Long Mega Buster, two proto Fin Funnels, as well as a shield that could be mounted with a Burst Bolt, a Mega Machine Cannon, or a Hi-Mega cannon. Most importantly, the Delta Kai has the n_i_t_r_o system, which could temporarily turn an Oldtype pilot into a Cyber-Newtype, allowing them to control the Fin Funnels. It would also cause the Suit to emit blue flames. Although activation of the n_i_t_r_o system would cause the pilot to become unusually aggressive and unstable, it lacked the flaws that its predecessors the EXAM and HADES system had, namely the Mobile Suit going berserk, as well as memory loss.

Silhouette Formula F91 got a model line with some design-only mobile suits, like the RXF-91 Kai and the Cluster Gundam. The Berah Rona custom Vigna Ghina is also getting a P-Bandai kit right now. Hi-Nu and Nightingale you could make a case for, but Nu HWS was never assembled.

It's basically a Federation study into the 'ideal' RX-78 unit. At least canonically. Another non-existent MS would be the Gunner Gundam, which saw only a single mockup converted from a GM built for sensor and weapons testing before cancellation. Other MS under this category include Nightingale and Hi-Nu, which would be design phase at best during CCA most of the time unless we go full Beltorchika's children. Both would inevitably be canned after their intended pilots bit the dust.

Deep Striker like all the other G Sentinel was a Model Grafx production so was for a time, non-canon though B/S did eventually mostly canonized it.. but certain units like Deep Striker and Zodiac were to this day, rather dubious in its authenticity

As of this year, the MG Deep Striker is being sold at a loss! All stores that I know of, physical and online, are putting all their DS' on sale. Had it been an RE it would have been fine.

I think one of the biggest flaws on Deep Striker's main function is that the enemy would see it coming from quite aways off and deploy their MS forces so the DS would have to contend with alert vessels and MSs... UNLESS you're saying this can attack a fleet on station around the moon, from a distance equal to being at Mars...

You should do a video about obscure mobile suits that would be cool. I found some really obscure ones I'd like to share. Theres this book called meaningless war 0091 that doesnt even have a wiki page, it has a mobile suit called the shanel, which is a mix of the sazabi and quebely so it's kinda like a feminine sazabi. Theres a mobile suit called rx 90 with uses the hi streamer nu gundam design just made to look like the regular UC designs which I thought was so cool. Theres also some that are a fusion of the zeta and the bawoo. Theres also a Ziii which is a mix of zii, s gundam, and zz gundam. That's the most obscure ones I know. I recall seeing an old manga about a martial arts gundam in the UC timeline but i can't find that anymore. Most of the suits in 0091 dont really have names, just model numbers.

There's a ton of discussions about it but it's hard to find informational website with details about it because most don't keep pages for fan works. MAHQ and Gundamwiki used to have pages for it but were removed once more info then GEARS Online were shown. I wish it were real since I really love the designs too, but no, it is very much non-official.

There's the Zeta 1/144 kit where they simplified the transformation to make it feasible for the model kit, but I am not sure if that had an in-universe counterpart. It did certainly make the Zeta into something different.

At the time that the kit was released it was possible that it didn't have an in-universe counterpart(don't have the manual to check its history), but it was definitely made into an "existing" machine later. This is a complicated case lol.

1) MSZ-008 did exist but only one prototype was build and its concept was then transfer to REZEL 2) The Mk3 was build by Anaheim as the successor of the Mk2 but was not delivered to AEUG on time. 3) The Gundam Gerbera was only build half way before EFF pull the plug and was converted to Gerbera Tetra. (technically did not exist) 4) Garma did have his personal Zaku 2S but he did not deploy in it assuming the commander role. 5) Delta Kai did exist as a tech demonstrator unit using the Delta Plus as the main frame 6 & 7) G04 & G05 is part of the original 7 Gundam Prototype 8) Perfect Zeong did exist on paper and was not able to be completed as EFF have attack A Baoa Qu (Did not exist) 9) The Full Armor Gundam 7th did exist but did not participate the OYW due to still in development but was given to the Phantom Sweepers in 0081 10) The GP02A MRLS is an optional equipment to the GP02A and Anaheim did have a spare GP02A for Char to test pilot before the development of Rick Dias (Gundam Z define Manga)

A couple things. 3) 0083 Rebellion see's the Gerbera completed and combat the GP01FB in a mock battle that ends with it's theft. 6) You're right about this but the BST version didn't exist. That's something to consider. 8) One Perfect Zeong was later finished and even used by Char long after the OYW (Assuming Char's Deleted Affair happened) Basically, give it time and any design will become canon thanks to alternate universes or "hey this totally happened guys!"

Hehe, many MSV MS only existed on paper in universe and never even saw a prototype production. The recent manga/video game side stories do try to bring some of the Z-MSV/M-MSV to life. i..e MP Hyakushiki Kai, MP ZZ, MP Z etc. Since they are considered "legends", and not fully canon but still compatible with the anime canon in its current form, we will wait and see what happens. The ReZEL kit never mentioned the ZII as a precursor and only the Methuss, which still makes sense as the Methuss predated the ZII, but we did get a ZII model kit due to the PS# Side Stories game. And yes, there were so, so many different accounts of the MSV Full Armor Gundam. But if I were to just focus on the continuity up to 1985, then it only appeared as a ceremonial machine post OYW. We are at a stage of Gundam merchandising where they have to cater to oldie fans who grew up in the 80s and yearned for the merchandising of many of these MSV designs. I was extremely thrilled to see the GM Sniper Custom get a Robot Damashii and MG in the same year. My holy grail would be the 105 Dagger, even though I hate Seed, but I liked the Seed MSV designs a lot. Great video. Let's talk more MSV stuff.

The development of the ZII, along with REG-Z is suppose to be the next phase of the Z project as EFF wanted a transform-able high speed attacking MS but the Z Gundam and the Z+ variants are still quite expensive to mass produce, Z+ is quite fragile and costly to maintain, in which Anehiem will refer to a simpler transformable MS Methuss as its concept base for the ZII. Although the REG-Z is quite successful in its own right, it is still costly to build the BWS and what it does is more like a delivery platform for the MS rather than a true transformable MS, in which they later develop the ReZEL with reference that the transformation for ZII and ReZEL is identical.

While it wasn't on the list for not existing, the G-Armor did appear in the movies, for a handful of frames as a wreck in Aboa Qu. So it did exist in the movies, even if the white base didn't get it.

"too heavy" uh, space is zero gravity. those thrusters should be able to push suits like the Deep Striker with no problem, unless it happened to get deployed near a gravity well such as the Earth or the moon

Teru Tend0 Massive is probably the correct term. Even in space, you need more thrust to counteract a massive object's inertia.

theres no weight but theres still mass, thus acceleration and boosting will still be affected. it sure can move fast enough in a straight line but doubtfully agile enough to dodge enemy fire so it'll be a waste of money if it get ganged up by enemy mobile suits.

Its not scientifically true to say that Space is 0G though. To a vessel in space there would be countless bodies (planets, stars, moons, even comets) pulling in all sorts of directions on it, some minuscule, some massive. The Deep Striker wouldn't have TOO much trouble realistically, but to say its weightless in space would be misguided.

The issue was more mobility rated. Being able to adjust the direction of the mobile suit to obtain meaningful movement in all directions would require a lot of counter thrust. Having the MS just jet off in one direction doesn't really make for combat capability. So, like others said, it is an issue of inertia.
