Of course it should be that way! You are constantly growing and hopefully that makes you see things in a different way to how you did when you were in your teens. You make decisions in life as you go, everyone does, there's no other way around it. Realising you could have done things differently ( better/ more effectively/ faster...)or deciding to change your career or personal life is not a sign that you were wrong back then: all those experiences make you who you are now, and that "new" older you may want to continue the same direction or shift it completely. And that is perfectly ok and may happen to anyone of us at any age in life.

I am soon to be 25 and have been extremely blessed to have travelled and lived quite an adventurous life. I by no means took the conventional path, I lived overseas for 2 years, moved a lot, tried lots of different jobs and went through long periods without working. During this time I thought I really wanted to create my own business or become an influencer and all the things that are described in this video. Funnily enough over the last 2 years I have discovered that I was actually forcing myself to try and do those things. (I felt like I had to be different) I am learning what I actually want is to challenge and apply myself in uni. I want a routine, I want a job and the conventional things. My advice to any 20 year old is that both pathways are extremely valid and admirable. What matters most is what YOU actually want. I think people from either side are so quick to say what the right path is but only you can decide what works for you and what you're willing to sacrifice to make that happen. I've been extremely privileged to be able to experience both and choose. Not everyone will have this luxury but I'm here to tell you that your life is just as special, amazing and fulfilling whichever path YOU choose.

Today it's a simple sit down video. I really want to let my thoughts flow here and not have the video too structured. I hope you don't mind. I have been thinking a lot this year about what I've done with my life and how I can contribute and I realised I've lived a life so far that most people dream of. Actually, it's even a life I used to dream of. And so, what are some pieces of advice that helped me greatly with achieving the life of my dreams? Some actual things that you can do with not toooo much difficulty. Things that have changed my world. I share them here. Thanks for listening friends! Wishing you the very very best for your lives!!!

Even if after watching the video you don't do any of those things like travelling, online bussines, taking time for you to experiment before "settling down" the one thing to take away from this video I think is the crazy amount of passion that she has no matter what is happening, because that gives anybody 's life a lot more happiness. Thank you for this video! I so agree. I have always known I wanted to be an archaeologist all my life, and have been working towards it. As a result, I don't have a normal job, and I often travel and move away every few months. I have many friends who ask me when will I settle down and come home, or get some normal job, but I know this is the right path. Hopefully in the next year I will be able to properly move to another country to continue this. I suppose long story short, follow your dreams, and not just what others have dreamt for you. Even if it means your life doesn't resemble that of your friends from high school, that is ok, because following your dreams will make you so much happier!

Thank you for this, as a 22 yr old on my second degree (from fashion to now studying nursing - thank god for Australia’s great education system) I’m still questioning what my purpose in life is because I’m always feeling like there is something missing. I don’t have a big group of friends, just a few close ones so I question why I’m not like so many people I know and see Instagram posts of them in parties. Why am I not like that crowd? Why am I not like my brother about to graduate as an accountant with a set position offered to him straight after? I feel like I’m going back to being a kid, I bought a go pro, I’m learning how to skate board and am going to learn how to surf (that’s how I found your channel), but I’ll embrace this uncertainty and discovery, and even set up a KZbin channel 😂. I’ve nvr felt so free knowing there are so many things I can do at this age and it’s so exciting and nerve wrecking. So thank you again so much for this video

the privilege D: & unawareness of it D: Even the workaway point she makes where you get accom & food... you still need savings enough that arnt eaten by bills to get travel and emergency money & to have no set living space outside of your parents home etc. I've signed up to workaway site but it still costs a significant investment. She also ignores the fact how much she dropped on her camera, the space to hone her skills & monthly payments of adobe / etc

It's so sad how many people these days are leaning on this word and shutting off the potential to listen and learn from someone that has created a dream life, coming from a place of love. Something I would have loved to hear as a wide eyed 20 year old, eager to see what I can make of this life. The more privileged people in the world, the more people who can lean down and pull others up that need a helping hand. I'm not sure how that's not clear to see. We all need to advance the world step by step, layer by layer. Not by telling everyone to sit down, shut up and not try to make something of their lives, with the cards they have been dealt. Most people watching my channel have the capacity to do great things, but instead some choose to instantly put up a wall as you did.
@alyssarh
@alyssarh 3 жыл бұрын
For real!! Like it worked for her, great.. I just think it would've been good for her to acknowledge that it's not for everyone. She could've made it a video where she was talking about how she got to where she is or how doing this was right for her. But I think it could be harmful to say that this is advice for every 20 yr old when you'd have to be privileged to be able to do it, that's all. That kind of path is not for everyone and I disagreed with how she presented it. It's unrealistic for many young adults to travel the world and leave everything else behind, and to say that that's advice that everyone should take could be harmful.

@@SorelleAmore No--she called you out on the privilege component that 100% needs to be addressed in this discourse. (And if it wasn't clear, if I could put shining blinking lights around that word, I would. I would lean so hard into it. So. Hard. Instantly.) A lot of people who have done the self-reflection you've mentioned in 2020 would take a breath and note the privilege (OR the lack of [prominently] having accounted for its mention in the messaging) and instead you instantly chose to police her comment. There is a privilege in being in a place to make unconventional decisions--maybe not for you (?shrug?) but how can you continue to ignore the voices that are saying "um, yes, this is a lived experience that exists in the world and it IS an issue and you choosing to ignore or disparage its influence on your PLATFORM has negative ramifications!") Also, I am a frequent follower for a long time and have sung your praises so please don't think I am a random commenter just hating for hating's sake. Nope--there is a reflection component that you are missing and one would say actively resisting and also dismissing others in the process. If you were able to integrate privilege discourse into your rah-rah-self-realization your message would be frickin' elevated. EL-E-VATED! Instead it rings as empty. Impact vs. intent... Edit: (And yes, before folks dig in, I understand she notes privilege at the end of the video, but there's a choice in doing that in that way. It comes across as an afterthought or begrudging footnote--her responses to the comments on this topic don't suggest otherwise--and I will challenge Sorelle (whom I do respect and is clearly a bright and incredibly capable individual, otherwise I wouldn't engage) to PREFACE these crucial elements rather than add them in such a way where it reads as "before y'all complain, here's my basic privilege disclaimer." I think you can do better and many of us are asking you to do better. *Leans harder* :)
@AkaNe9193

@@SorelleAmore @Sorelle Amore When you recognise your privilege and use it to pull others up, that's amazing! But there is a thing called toxic positivity. I get that you're coming from a place of love, but please listen to the others as well. Some don't have the luxury for many many things.. They just don't.. And making them believe everything is in their hands is hella wrong. Sometimes things are not in your hand and that's it.. That's the reality. Why are people ignoring that, like it's not real, avoiding it at any cost .. Like everyone could actually achieve what they set their mind up to? You have created a dream life and that's great, but your advices do not apply to everyone. When we're high up we forget how it was down there. Instead of just spreading this "anything is possible no matter what mentally", why don't we spread the "not everything is possible for everyone, and that's not a bad thing, not everyone will be successful, famous, rich, owning a business, etc.. And again.. That's fine.. ". I don't believe people should stay in their comfort zone if they have the possibility to get out of it. I'm talking about people who genuinely struggle. I don't think everything is dark in this world.. But just ignoring some things is not good either. You need to find balance in life.. Some things are earned in life through hard work, but some you are born with it. Like you, a white cis woman born in a very wealth country, you haven't earned that. But also that's not bad.. As long you use your privilege in good ways, and you said you do. You just seem to feel attacked by any comment that critics things you say or do, not even hate.. But purely criticism.. No one is attacking you and no one is hating on you, people want to be heard and understood... It would be wonderful if you could read these kind of comments and actually think why they're saying these things, not immediately jumping on defensive mode. Anyways..at the end of the day its your life and your choices, you have a voice no matter what, even if people don't agree with you..And don't forget, we have a voice as well. We might not know each other.. but that doesn't take away our voices.

Not all of us can see the world especially at 20, i am from a small kind of poor country in Europe, with 0 security of any sort (college student, unemplyed, no realestate and a single parent). Here we have to work and save up in order to even get a plane ticket to travel, plus not all people even want to travel all the time... If you are a photographer, musician, artist you can probably move around and work online but that's not really possible for people who want to be lawyers, doctors, engeneers... I'm happy for you Sorelle and how your life has worked out and how you've gotten and switched between so many jobs but many people today can't even get empolyment that is crucial for their survival, so just think about what you're saying because on occasion it sounds like you're coming from a really high place, unaware of the issues most people have.

You really have no idea how useful and how important it is for someone so young and at the start of their journey, like me and many others, to hear this.

Not even in the mid 20s but still wondering what to do with life. With the lockdown online work does seem to be the best option....but how does one find what works for them....I mean choices are open and experimenting is the only way but staying motivated is tough and all you wanna do is travel but it is also the one thing that seems impossible.

I would love to see/hear some tips on where to start in learning how to earn money online for beginners. In my mind, probably because I’ve always had an hourly job, I need to go to school or have some program to get started on learning this. I feel like I need to go somewhere and have someone give me money. I want to change my mindset though! Help?

*1:46** if there is ANYTHING 2020 has taught me (and I have a list of 100+ points, still going strong with 2 months left in this year!) it's that job security is a joke.* 😂

My advice to a 20 year old is: choose great mentors, look for opportunities rather than that which interests you, get skills, work hard and be a pleasant person to be around.

Very interesting Video. I resonate with this a lot and I think it is good advise to experiment. And if then you may want to go back to uni and a "save life" that is great. It will definitely help with questions of "what if?" in the future, because you did try different things. Personally I lived like this since I was able to go out into the world and it allowed me to make my dreams come true. To immigrate from Germany to Australia. I am 25 now and have my permanent residency and see that as an equivalent to a uni degree. Personally. Because I worked hard for it and was willing to go the difficult path. And I am SO MUCH HAPPIER then when I di my apprenticeship as a travel agent. Yes, it sounds fun if you love travel but I found selling something I wanted to do myself not satisfying at all :D So now that one life long dream has been fulfilled a job is next on the list. So I decided to throw myself into starting my own business! And guess what I use for my website: Squarespace haha :D Stay tuned. Thanks for the lovely chat in this video. It is so interesting so see you grow. Especially because I found you through the Melina Sophie Video a few years ago and now we are here. You in Iceland me in Australia. Kind of feels like common grounds. Much love Nichelle XX

I hate to ask such a pedestrian question under a video of this topic but I'm curious. as someone who was once training for the Olympics and has maintained an extremely high level of physical fitness her whole life, what kind of workouts do you do? HIIT? yoga? You've got abs in iceland in winter so you clearly know more than I do Lol
