My notes: 1. Micro speed, macro patience 2. Play the long-term, no fast cash blitz 3. Work extremely hard on only one thing 4. Don't keep your head on the goal, but on the process. Don't mind what they say. 5. Work work work. No daydreams, no Instragram, no bullshit. I spend more time playing in a weekend than Gary V spent his entire 20s having fun. 6. Compare yourself only to yourself. Don't care about other people's early successes. They have the rich parents DLC, chase the fast cash --- totally irrelevant to you. Everyone else is irrelevant. 7. Do not flex. You can't trick, bullshit the winners. You can only trick the losers. No winner thinks you're winning. The winners will smoke you out of your bullshit.

Yes, she is taking it very calmly... too calmly. I love how Gary sees right through the PR story she is telling herself. I don't think she really got it until the very end when Gary asked for her Instagram handle and made it public to the "Vayner Nation". She got 8,000 new followers in a week, all holding her accountable to what she said she would do. We all tell ourselves similar stories. We all need accountability. I think this video has two and a half million views because Taylor's problem is universal. We all see ourselves in her.

Watching Gary tear into the girl at the beginning reminds me so much of my high school principal yelling at me about how I’m worthless and will never amount to anything bc I had trouble staying awake in the morning and drew doodles during class. The only advice he gave me to improve anything was “take sleeping pills and force yourself to act normal”. His advice led me to be pretty miserable and the way he delivered it left me with anxiety issues that required therapy. My life only started to get better when I said “fuck this I know what I want”. Now I make $3 extra an hour bc turns out we still need overnight workers and most people aren’t happy doing it which makes my weird sleep schedule a valuable attribute. I also wound up getting a job thats creative work making fancy desserts, which I love and not everyone can do, and make extra money on the side as a children’s book illustrator. Point is this type of self help def does hurt people and actually is really counterintuitive bc not only do the traits you’re asked to give up tend to benefit you due to their rarity but honestly what is the point of being rich and successful if you waste your whole life and don’t enjoy yourself on the way? Best case you’re miserable for most of your adult life and make it big in time to spend a few years with a fragile body and money you won’t have time to spend, worse case you save for years and die before you can do anything with it. By all means save up and be financially responsible, but dont think of money as something you want just to say you have it; go on vacation, go to a show, buy a game, just let yourself enjoy things. Life is short. I wasted 20 years only to find out I’m prob not gonna live to 50.

I’m 18 in college and am stuck deciding to graduate early or stay for 4 years. After watching your video about your thoughts on college made me make the decision to stay because the same opportunities here won’t be easily Available out in the “real world”. Even so, I’m trying to plan my college life (freshman). I’m impatient to become an artist, get my brand out there, and go to Japan to learn about manga, draw and travel. I can see why my dad listened to you for years every morning and now I’m the one listening to you. Thank you ❤

*The ultimate advice for every 20 year old THAT WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE Spending your whole 20s hustling without any free time is so ridiculous if you don't want to be really rich. There needs to be a balance, otherwise you'll have your 20s spend doing nothing but getting money and you'll regret it. You can always get money, but you won't ever get your 20s back. Don't go too hard on you in your 20s, money will come and if you got it, you'll want more. There's no end to money, but there's an end to time, so choose wisely.

This is gem and so true! I spent my teen years trying to do freelance day-in and day-out now outta college I see I have no friends to talk to or go out with. I have money but lol it's not that much that I get to stop working and start spending. Whereas those who spent their time in their teens enjoying are very well connected and help each other out in their biz or grab a new job opportunity. Trust me money is waste. It's relationship and your happiness which matters at the end of day.

I said that once. It took me years to break the habit. I managed to overcome it in the end, although I still catch myself slacking time to time, like now, I'm replying to this post when I should be doing something more worth my time. The solution I found is to start getting things done. Stop wasting time planning what your going to do because that's fantasy fiction in your head. Spend 5 minutes bullet pointing a few things you can get done in the next 4-8 hours you have available. Then do it, no matter what. It's not easy, it's hard and it feels shit to begin with. You need to put it into physical practise on a daily basis to develop the new habit. That's step one. If you think about doing it, you won't do it - that's where I spent 7 years messing up and feeling down about it. Changing your routing takes practise, therefore time and effort. Do it or don't. I don't care if you impress me by changing or not, but you do. It's your call. Now get off the net like I'm about to do right after I hit the reply button and get shit done. Don't even waste time replying to this message, I don't even want to see a quick "thanks". Get off your ass and move NOW - period!

I needed this. I’m 20 right now and straight up lost on what I want to do with my life. I feel like everyone around me knows what they want to do or they are doing it. I need to look at the process of getting there not the end result. But again I am lost still. But this was a good pep talk

What a great conversation. She sounds like a smart kid, highly motivated, and with her head generally screwed on straight more than 90% of her cohorts-- this just gave her the 10% redirection she needed to kick ass over the next decade. Well done, sir.

I think she had the 10% and Gary gave her the 90%. Trust me I wasted from 16 - 24 caring what people thought too much trying to play the fast game hanging around with internet and TV celebs when I should have been doing my own thing playing the slow game. Eveyone in the world has that drive but nobody is playing the slow game I'm still young and I would love to have not wasted all that time playing fake fast game.

Fair enough-- recognizing that bit, even thought it's a relatively small realization, is a huge component of moving forward effectively. Ah, to go back to my 20s armed with the shit I learned in my 30s and 40s... :)

I suppose everyone's different but for me, the passion easy and everyone I meet has the passion but no ones going slow and putting in time. I spent so much time trying to do so many things fast comparing myself to others and trying to catch up. It's a hard habit to break and I still get caught up in it. Every month I seem to care less about what others think and get better at playing my own game but saying and it doing it are completely different. I have a pretty good business now that's growing slowly.

So do you mean just go full on one project? No distractions and just keep pushing it? So just get going by your own way and stop getting attention? I understood? I'm 21 and got next level stuff in mind, still not going full on, maybe thinking it too much, but I'm always my way although indeed tend to study and investigate a lot of my surroundings, trying to learn and craft everything that I see others don't target and trying to distinguish myself but need to go 100% still

I'm 22, college student in computing. I currently live in France but I'm from West Africa. I build android apps since 2015 but all of them failed, I can't get enough downloads but it won't stop me from making apps. I want to be successful in making apps because : - I want to build something successful in what I love doing. - I want to be financially stable, my parents send me money every month for my living even though they don't earn a lot and I want this to stop.

Ibrahima Sow When you make an app, what exactly is your motivation? do you make an app because you want to, or you think it will be cool and people will like it? OR do you make apps that solve problems and fills demands? if you do the latter, keep going. keep looking for problems to solve. eventually you will make an app that will be guaranteed success. you will get a lot of downloads because it will SOLVE A PROBLEM or SATISFY A NEED that people have

Robert Kim No some put work in but its either too late or in the wrong areas. Like working hard in college when you could've done it in highschool. Frankly, degrees don't mean shit. Experience and evidence of passion mean more than anything.
