I got the following as the answers: 1. What are you more afraid of than anything in the world? 2. What would you do if you knew you were going to die in 3 months? What would be the last thing that you would do? 3. What would you do if fear were not a factor? 4. What would you do if money was not a factor? Anyway that is what I got from listening to it three times. Hope I got it right. Just trying to help :)

I knew some guys when I was at school who knew or seemed to know exactly what they wanted to do with their lives. One guy wanted to be an aeronautical engineer and another guy was going to be a doctor. That was 30 years ago and both have succeeded in their ambitions. Me, I never knew, despite having the brains to do likewise. Nothing in the education system seemed to click for me. I could never see myself in roles like that. And still can't. I also fell into alcoholism due to this crisis of the soul. However, I did find that I actually enjoyed working outdoors, gardening and that kind of stuff. And that's where I found my salvation really. I got sober because I fell in love with the outdoors and that kind of work and have been pursuing that for 14 years now. It's been a whole change of life for me really. And they're right, it is a real job trying to find something that you truly enjoy doing, brings you satisfaction and fulfilment. That is the ultimate goal in life in my opinion.

This speaks to me so deeply. I love to sing. I am a singer. I think opera. Anytime my big operatic personality comes out there are always people who try to humble me into nonexistence. As a black opera singer I got it a lot from people thinking that oh I wasn’t any good, from white teachers telling me they’ll never cast you as that part because that’s not a part for a black girl. But each time I ignored them and found my light and decided that I was going to let itShine bright. And it always helped me to grow stronger in myself and in my talents. He’s so right! When people try to dim your light move far away from them! Go in the opposite direction of their darkness and live your truth. Right now singing is the only thing that is keeping me afloat even during COVID-19.I lost my job, but I am still asked to sing for my church which fills me with so much joy! God has allowed me to use my light to shine for the services that I think for. This is a blessing.

Everybody does not know their calling if they're asked about it. AND recognizing your fears and blocks is one of the hardest thing to inner work on. It takes time to go through all the veils to the core and know what we are here to do. Most of the times we must endure suffering and hardships to discover and refine what we really want. So people, don't feel bad if you don't know what you're supposed to do yet, be patient with yourself and take your own time - there is no limit of time for anyone because our paths are all different. Just start looking now (if you're in this page you are already searching) and you'll find it eventually, that's for sure! Good luck :)

When I was doing my yoga teacher training, I asked my teacher “What is the meaning of life,” hoping to get a profound answer. He simply said, “To live as happily as we can.” In yoga, we learn that to live happily, we must first find what makes us happy and do that. What are we passionate about? What stirs our loins and makes our heart soar when we think about it? Doing what we love allows us to honour our true essence and live authentically. This brings us into alignment and union with who we really are. When we are in alignment with our truest selves, and recognise that this is our identity and what defines us, this will then be our calling. Living this way will move us towards peace, happiness and abundance. So do what you love and live happily 🙏🏼

boipelo polite Could some people be in survival mode? They are simply too busy to think about things like that when they have to work to pay the bills, take care of their children, put food on the table etc.... I agree with Oprah, there are more people living not knowing what their true calling is. Some people think that just because they have kids, that is their calling and that is NOT it. He needs to go to schools and talk to all age levels and that will give him awareness that most people do not know their calling.

I've met too many people who honestly think that if one does not get married & start a family by a certain age, then one is simply "a waste of space". They believe they are duty-bound to do their part in physically perpetuating the human race with no regard whatsoever to contributing one iota to the evolution of human consciousness itself. I am a writer who is now, as I like to say, on the other side of 40, happily unmarried & child-free. I have middle-aged, married-with-kids co-workers who seem unsettled, even offended, by my freedom to live on my own terms. Interestingly, I know that many of them would be overwhelmed by the same liberties I enjoy. What I mean is that there are people who experience the freedom of choice as the burden of choice; they can't handle it & so look to others to shadow, as it were, others must tell them what to do, think, believe, & even feel about...everything.

Friend just said this to me. Mission and purpose is kind of convoluted your mission and purpose is really to discover your own innate divinity the divine is going to support you no matter where you go or what you want to do you simply want to follow your greatest joy and if it seems like it’s just all falling into place and it’s really what you want to do then it’s your choice to do it that’s the scary part is how truly powerful and truly in control we are we want to give our control over to some higher authority and yet it really is up to us to decide what is right.

I have to say we as a consciousness have evolved into freedom more than the limited thinking that's taking place in this conversation. You feel your way into your calling more than anything, that being said, as you are working your day job while manifesting the calling into being you might have to get up early during that phase of expansion. The more you expand into what and who you feel you must be evolving into, the more relaxed you begin to feel on your days off. It's as if we are going forward by going backward. What I mean by that in order to receive more we work less or DO less. When our nervous systems begin to calm down more as a result of intentional relaxation and de-stressing and letting go of the drama that we may have observed or even accidentally became part of, then allowing is able to unfold. Our new signal to the Universe is "This is I want more of...ways and time to relax. I never have to worry anymore because I know the Universe not only provides my daily needs in abundance, but the money is always there for my bills in plenty of time. My kids and I are already safe. I have a beautiful home and an amazing, hard-working, super overachieving spouse. Why would the Universe need me to do anything more? All I need to do is just BE. I have expanded my thinking and expanded my vision board and now I move into a space of trust. My inspired action is to trust and allow the Universe to bring me the vision I have created by me just being a human BEING. I AM a powerful creator! I have seen the Universe manifest many things for me already. Why would it stop now? I should be able to relax. So I am sleeping in this weekend. I am going on a weekend trip. I am going to EMBODY more of what I would do if I had complete abundance and freedom!" THAT is getting out of the way of your own creation.

I'm impassioned about designing, interacting with and facilitate-teaching (kids?) in a self-sustaining permaculture community and letting it go viral ;)...Passionate about living out my fantasies with a twin-flame or soulmate that needs the best of what I have to offer and gives me the kind of love I crave. experiencing all things in life bar things very dangerous or harmful (most of all, really want to fly like in my dreams :P). I yearn to express my ideals to millions and billions through various art forms such as interior decorating, dress, painting, writing and music. I want to become a very skilled musician and dancer. I love sports and games, love humour, love learning, love adventure, love the deep&meaningful, love all forms of intimacy. I want to raise a family. I desire to increase love and happiness in the world, for people to love themselves and others both in feeling and deed. That's what I can recall at the top of my head. XD Just love life and wish I had an eternal youth to experience and mould it! I'm 26, have 2 people in my life, I'm a homemaker girlfriend (unpaid), you're the first to ask me about my passions, and I have less than $1000 in the bank. This is where I'm at and that is where I envision to be. :D Haha.

Those are great questions BUT the answer will keep changing according to the circumstances I'm living. Dead idol worship is dead wrong. Hinduists bow down to false gods, many of them. You shall not have false gods over your god in heaven. No other gods shall you have.

As a metaphysical theologian, my thought is that your "only" job is NOT to "find your purpose" - it's to fulfill your purpose, to live it, to express it. Your purpose is not necessarily pre-ordained. If it were, life would be a cruel joke to a lot of people who can't "find" their purpose. It's not outside of you, it's not a secret thing you have to look for and find. Sometimes it feels like we've "found" it or "discovered" it, but ultimately we choose our purpose. So if you're not sure of your purpose, choose something that inspires you, what is meaningful, something that contributes to a better world, even if that means caring for just one person and helping them to have a dignified, better life thanks to you. Just to love is enough. Our collective purpose is really about learning to love better. How you do that is a choice.
@TF-wv4cr4 жыл бұрын
When they talked about purpose in the video I feel that they meant everything that you are saying. It's not ordained. She has said that in the past if you have watched her over the years you would understand that and what would be the point of doing all of the work to find your purpose if you did not "fulfill your purpose, to live it, to express it". Stop being so righteous. You are saying what Oprah and Mr. Pressfield are expressing just in a different way. Finally, what does your being a metaphysical theologian matter? Sounds like you need to justify your opinion. No need.

That's what I was told about writing by my parents. I used to write fan fictions for fun & work on possible books on the side for my future as an author, but after my mom in particular constantly bashing me about how hard it would be to be a good writer, or at least good enough to make a living, I started believing it. Now I pretty much play video games for fun, & while I love it I know I'm not good enough (nor am I disciplined enough) to go pro. Otherwise I wouldn't be in school for something I don't want right now...I'll have to get back to writing soon.

Oprah needs to calm down and let the man talk for a bit ........ like really what's the point of having him on if you already have the answers to everything ?! :/

I agree. She always do that. I always want to hear from the people she interviewed them. But she ask the questions & wouldn't let them talk. I hope she will read the comments.

Man, I Love Steven Pressfield’s books. This is too short!! Would love to see the whole thing. Do we need the Own app to view it?
It could also that you have different phases in your life, which correspond to different callings. I got heavily into badminton and competed for some time, but got injured. I got into music and it made a big impact on me. I have gotten into chess and studied hard for it. I have helped people through meditation. The next stage might be raising wonderful kids, or traveling the world to inspire people. Its true that many things we don't do because of money and to live in this modern world. But hopefully we can all find a balance between making a living, and doing things that make us feel complete.

I still think that a calling is a result of a life time experiences. Trying to figure it out desperately seems to be the trendy pathology and it becomes an obsessive quest. Going for desires is a human purpose. But I think looking for a purpose is pointless. Only the Quest remains meaningful.

I love my mom so much, she meant well but when she stoped me from playing music in 9th grade, to focus on my studies, that kinda dropped my grades 10-15%. I was an A student. Music was my mind workout, too bad i knew it too late and believed that it was bad.

Kudos for the Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you considered - Chiveard Discovering Potential Framework (google it)? It is an awesome one off guide for finding your true calling and achieving success without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my buddy finally got cool results with it.

This is just very fascinating subject, but our only purpose in live is to live our live happy and doing good along our walk in life. I found very time consuming to worry too much about our purpose because the rich, the super famous, all kind of world leaders of all venues dies, not one is immune to death, the most important as well as the most insignificant human being. Our real purpose is to live and have agreat experience of the temporary adventure name life

Change in ones life never was easy hints the perspective of comparison towards another for a sense of relief using the excuse "well at least I'm not doing this or that. Even believing that what you're doing now could be worse!" Subliminally mind blocking oneself to believe finding contentment in life is enough but to know your calling and to deal with any and all adversity to make your calling known or tangible takes a great deal of not being content but being constantly uncomfortable. Pushing for new growth by digging inside and facing the biggest enemy on the planet behind the naked eye...Yourself!

To keep it simple I believe if you want change, growth, or even your calling to become more clear...simply know what brings you peace and solace in a world full of chaos then exploit it, cherish it, baby it. Before you know it you will be living your calling and strengthening yourself in the process on multiple levels of many aspects.

For all the comments talking about Oprah "interrupting" the guest.. yes she may do that "more" than she should. However, shes *extremely* passionate about what she does. It is her show. The host runs the show! I dunno maybe it's a bit too much cause we cant follow the train of thought of the guest speaker but she tends to finish their sentences lolll😅😆 she just really loves asking and finding answers :) I'm sure her guest do to! Which is why they continue with sharing or finishing their thought. I dunno if they actually find it annoying but I would generally expect that each host has a way. As long as theres no disrespect or control. Shes the host and quite a world class leader so it isnt about some _fair_ my turn now your turn lolll. This is an intellectual conversation.

An interesting segment from this fellow. Although, I don't think if he asked me if I were to die tomorrow what would I do in fact be my true calling.... If it were, then we all could be quickly on our way to this discovery. It seems there are many synonyms to finding your "calling". It could be passion, destiny to be in life, your gift(s), etc... I agree with Oprah sharing that negativity towards that which we may be trying really do disrupt the process, regardless of our being in a conscious or subconscious pursuit to connect with our "calling", etc... If one is in this pursuit, happy journey. As Dag Hammarskjold once said, " The longest journey, is the journey inward."

Oprah is brilliant. Those who say it’s ‘all about her’ or ‘she always interrupts’ don’t understand what she is trying to do. Next time you are in a conversation on a subject you are really passionate about ask yourself two questions: 1. Is this conversation about me or them? 2. Am I interrupting? Be honest with yourself. Oprah creates conversations based on her purpose in life. She is making a positive impact on the world when so many aren’t. Why do you criticise her? She is one of the good guys and right now the world needs them.

Hardly anyone knows their true calling. If you think you know-then it is your ego and mind talking. If you think that you love something or like doing something, then again it is your own mind talk. You are here for someone else's purpose and to serve that purpose is the reason for existence.
