I work in finance in a Level 1 Trauma hospital in Metro NY & I say this ALL THE TIME. Our ‘custodians’-as if it should have a negative connotation-are in a dept. called Environmental Services & they are some of the kindest, hardest working people who take great pride in their jobs- and EVERYONE knows it.

Mothers, artists, janitors, secretaries. All the undervalued folks can take this to heart. Sometimes it helps to be reminded that what we do is not in vain and is part of a bigger whole. I love your story about Maggie.

Any feeling related to being positive helps the survival of humanity. Thanks a million to remarkable Professor Bryan Dik who helps us see the invisible beauty and value of each job and shares a magical term “Calling” with us💐

Wow!!! Such powerful stories!! I read What Color is Your Parachute many years ago and I keep revisiting it from time to time and it amazes me how the “flower” keeps developing and as I keep developing and growing in my experience, knowledge and skills. The book is hands down the best self-help guide that one can find! The book changed my life! Note: Stephen Covey, the author of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People highly recommended the book.

Thank you for the story of Maggie. I have always taken a small, insignificant role in my jobs. I've never been the boss or manager. Yet I have helped many people, and built million dollar businesses. I know this in part because after I leave, the businesses go downhill. Now, im a homeschooling mom and beekeeper, and i make homeschool co-op days magical for all yhe kids. I recently got some money to spend on my own education, and I found out that I only have 7 years to spend it. This puts a monkey wrench in what I thought was going to be my plans. It won't cover the type of degree I thought I'd want to get. Now I have to figure everything out again, and I'm scared. Thank you for your review of the evidence on what helps; it'll be a good next step!

Our mind constantly changes, it’s difficult to decide sometimes what we really want, but eventually we gotta stick to something and love what we’re doing actually!! , we can keep trying different things that can help us explore, evolve us .. focus on one thing more to become much better at it..

But was Maggie compensated for doing two jobs? Or did the company just pay her a measly janitors wage? Important to the story because we can all practice our calling but if our bills aren’t paid we don’t eat.
@Tamara-ju3lh4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that bothered me. If she's assisting the doctors/nurses in helping calm patients she should get paid for it, especially if they "call her in". Maybe they are, but I've seen too many people like that get taken advantage of.

This is a major problem with religion. Those who decide to become preachers/pastors are mentally ill and literally believe they're hearing voices in their head. Also, I stopped watching this after this part of the video, because I thought it would actually help me find my calling.
