Completely agree with all your points, I personally love the “see through” look, To me it looks as if the fish are almost floating in the room and not in water! Great video

Love Reef Tank Aquascape Colin does some fantastic scrapes. So anyone in the UK should definitely look them up if there after anything special.

Have you considered covering the rear glass with frosted window film? I use it in my freshwater tank.
@ReefDork2 жыл бұрын
No, the whole point of setting up this way was the extra brightness it gives. I don't even see the wall behind it now

@@ReefDork makes sense. Btw new coral store for you to motorbike to: polypbox in London. You can book to go and hand pick at their warehouse. Its a bit of an industrial set up but they have a good selection!

Hi I also have a fluval 13.5 gallon that is essentially a smaller peninsula tank as the filter is on the short end. I do have it against a wall but I do have a backing on it to cut natural light from coming through the back as it's near a window.

Can you talk about the technical drawbacks to a peninsula tank, aside from the visual in the next vid? Considering this as an upgrade in the future
@ReefDork5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely - there are practical and technical compromises. I'll cover it in detail 🤓

aaron and you both have a taste for the "invisible tank" look. I really love the see through look, and i really want my next tank to be a peninsula tank against a wall. However im thinking it will be a huge leap from the norm( cuz i really havent seen many people do it). Im scared that if i get a peninsula against and dont like it, i would be kicking myself. the videos that you put out are more than enough in convincing me to get this set up. Im simply hesitant because how uncommon it is
@ReefDork5 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised it's not more common - the see through look kicks ass 😁

Are your power heads Neptune WAVs? And if so, what’s your program/flow pattern and at what percent of its performance?
@ReefDork5 жыл бұрын
No, I have 2x VorTech MP40s. I run them at 80% for what it's worth. I'd like more flow...
@speacci5 жыл бұрын
@@ReefDork Ok great, thanks for the info man. I was concerned with how much flow is too much for the fish. *new to this* and the WAVs are really powerful. I have the same tank as you. Keep up the good work!

I prefer the back panel to be blacked out. Dont like seeing my wall , wires, etc. I think blacked out makes the corals and fish pop way more.

You also end up seeing your own reflection and camera if you’re taking pictures. It’s really annoying to me..

Same question why would you have a peninsula against a wall? And that wall paper is fantastic as a backdrop cause we see swallows under water. Dont try and justify the fact that you messed up get a black background please

Your reef is beautiful but a peninsula it is not. If you can’t view it from 3 sides it’s not a peninsula.
@ReefDork5 жыл бұрын
True that. I like to think of my tank as being a peninsula like Norway 😁
