A good point seldom mentioned the different growth patterns of different varieties and the space they need to bear a crop. No sense butchering the tree to fit the space

Columnarize means make the fruiting branch long and slender without side braching... perhaps only 3 feet long with only fruit buds or spurs on them...😅

Each branch is then columnarize, without scaffold branches having fruits, to improve light distribution

Branch laterals r pruned back to a stub in June to promote more fruiting that's were the Dutch r at now Americans have not caught on to this yet

Dr is new at it too spindle bush has only been around in canada since mid late 1990 but much longer in europe
