That Joe Cocker album is superb, maybe his best. I have a much later(stereo) pressing than yours on Cube but it still sounds great. Totally agree on the discog thing. I mostly use it for bulk purchases of inexpensive stuff that I either missed at the time or have discovered later. I used to deal on the antiques market going to the same venues every month or two so it was vital that I turned my stock around so people had new stuff to look at. It also helped people to make the purchase because they knew it would likely be gone next time I came around. Literally every two months I would sell whatever I had had for too long to another dealer for what I paid for it and buy new stock with the cash. These discogs people don't have to do it and can hang on for top dollar, or in some cases ridiculously high prices.

Appreciate your insights on ebay & discog sellers. You're spot on. Just discovered Brian Auger, outstanding artist. Picked up Brian Auger's Oblivion Express - Straight Ahead (not rare obv) from a seller in Nebraska. Mint copy for $5.98 on discogs. It's getting heavy rotation here in L.A. Happy Holidays & keep up the great work, your passion is contagious.

Great records you shown to us today. Your advice is accurate. If we are patient we find someday (even after years) the records we're looking for, in affordable price and right condition. I am always looking in shops because I don't really trust what they say at internet.

Nice video Chris! I've just recently entered the world of vinyl collecting. I'm mainly focusing on 7" singles at the moment. The tips you have given me some education on paientice within this hobby, sometimes its best to sit on things for a while until an opportunity arises. It's great to see another person who collects in Suffolk. I'm South Suffolk :)

Hi Jake,nice to here from a fellow collector in Suffolk ,also a bit of advice be wary of eBay for prices also condition,if you shop in a reputable store you can see the condition not rely on someone else's grading ,always check the condition and you should be good. 👍

@@thesuffolkrecordcollector680 Couldn't agree more with checking the condition of records. I only shop in person, as I also like that experience of being inside a record store.

Some nice records Chris, I've seen a couple of early presses of that debut Ash Ra Temple album, but they were in the 100s and way beyond my means. The trouble with the vintage market is that whilst there are people around who are prepared to pay exorbitant amounts for vinyl records they will continue to be sold high because sellers know they can achieve those lofty price points...( until of course they get reissued and the value plummets.) My go to seller, Ben will occasionally have those high ticket rarities, and will price fairly depending on condition. He knows full well that he could end up sitting on it for months, but eventually someone will pay the asking price because its a ' grail' piece and they have to have it..he can't really lose, because if it doesn't sell then he'll just keep it for his own personal collection. I personally never buy records just for market value, to me there is no joy in owning a record just for its' intrinsic collectability because if I don't like the record, I'll never want to play it.That said, everyone would pick up a rare record if it was in the pound bin ( but who gets that lucky these days..!!??).

Hi rob,yes totally agree,it's a crazy market that baffles me,some albums are very rare because of that a few deserve a highish price ,but today people say non rare records are rare ,from time to time I do find rare records for what I Believe to be a fair price ,for example the ash ra album I found was under 100 ,
@thesuffolkrecordcollector68011 ай бұрын
Can't remember exactly but was a little under a ton,getting harder to get deals like that now though. Cheers all the best chris..

I bought the Ash Ra Tempel new/shrinkwrapped in mid 70s from HMV Oxford Street I think, when they had an import/krautrock section. Probably not a 1st press though but it had the foldout cover. Would have been less than £3! Those were the days browsing for obscurities in the London shops.

Thanks Chris not too far from Woodbridge :-) Occasionally find one or 2 from the Felixstowe/John Peel centre fairs, usually on the look out for some Krautrock Pool Vuh but thin on the ground. But really enjoy your videos and you have such a broad spectrum of music to introduce us too! May it continue!@@thesuffolkrecordcollector680
