My new book has a much more comprehensive shoulder impingement program that guides you through three phases of rehab. In addition to this program, my book has programs for the 50 most common injuries and pain issues, and each program has pictures of me doing the exercises. Great video and demonstrations of the exercises. After years I've finally learned and know understand the purpose of the rolled up towel in the external rotation exercise! I also am loving your new book. My only nitpick is that it doesn't have links to video demonstrations for every exercise. Often 2 pictures is not enough for beginners to get a good idea on how to execute the exercise. The book would be great as a multi-media book or an app if it could include videos (often you already have a video on your channel showing how to do the exercise).

I have had bicep pain, popping,cracking and snapping in the bicep. I had a subacromial injection a year ago. It helped 2 months. I failed pt. I recently found a surgeon who sent me for a Ct arthrogram. It showed a superior labral tear. That surgeon suggests surgery, bicep tendodesis. The problem is, he can’t do the surgery because of health problems and sent me to a new surgeon who admitted that he isn’t positive on how to read a Ct arthrogram and guessing from how he read it that i don’t have a labral tear but impingement. He suggested an injection and more pt. I got the injection last Thursday, a week ago. Hasn’t helped at all. It’s worse. He suggests therapy which I have tried a couple of times and i have failed it. I’m leaning toward a labral tear like Ct arthrogram says

Great videos - from an MRI: * SUPRASPINATUS: No tear. Mild fraying and tendinosis. I have pain and some weakness on the top of my should with impingment (can't raise hand up my back, then with hand on stomach I can't bring my elbow forward) I also watched your supraspinatus tendinosis. Any additional exercises if I have both supraspinatus tendinosis and impingment? Thanks!

The exercises in those two videos are some the most important to focus on. However, the rotator cuff tendinopathy and impingement program in my book is much more comprehensive and will guide you through three phases of rehab. Here is an Amazon link for my book, if you want to check it out. a.co/d/5eWLSG3

Shoulder abduction is causing me pain, but flexion isn't. Not sure if my problem is a shoulder impingement or not, but I guess I'll try these exercises and see if they help... I haven't been able to do overhead shoulder presses or wide-grip lateral pulldowns for over a month

Shoulder abduction is the movement that is more likely to hurt with this issue.

Doctor recmended surgery,is it necessary
@RehabScience7 ай бұрын
No, in most cases surgery is not necessary or supported in the research. Surgery is really only indicated for full-thickness rotator cuff tears.

Question. On the abduction exercise with the Theraband (or a tube), if you wanted to work both arms at the same time can you do that, is that safe? That is, could you have one shoulder going in external rotation while the other shoulder does internal rotation, or even both doing external rotation at the same time followed by internal rotation? Thanks!

Hi I just wanted to thank you so much! I’ve had a lot of injuries in the last ten years from all kinds of things and seen many great PTs. I’ve been learning pole dance for two years and had some shoulder pain the last couple months. Rest wasn’t doing it and I decided to try some exercises before I see the doc and wow these and a few more of your vids have helped me to understand my symptoms and causes and the exercises have provided SO MUCH relief in only a few days. Passive stretching was just aggravating the pain but these strength exercises seemed to ease it. I added some dead hangs on my pull up bar and negatives with an underhand grip which also seemed to work well! Cheers and I’ll be following!

Is there a way to differentiate this from overly tight lats?
@RehabScience Жыл бұрын
Lat tightness can limit overhead mobility and cause scapular compensations as well, but it won’t usually cause the pain that I described in this video. Irritation of the structures in the subacromial space will tend to create pain at the top and side of the shoulder, whereas lat tightness will typically just restrict motion.

Multiple physios seen me for shoulder pain and all told me i have an impingement and gave me tons of external rotation work But they didnt consider that my ribcage position was collapsed in and this contributed to poor scap positionining and hence shoulder pain. Have u seen such cases before?
@RehabScience Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is well known that positioning of the thoracic cage can affect the scapulothoracic joint and exacerbate shoulder impingement symptoms in some cases.

I already had my collar broken but nothing major. That accident was in 2020. Fast forward to 2024. 2 weeks ago, I was benching 295lb....nearly perfect form but my shoulder gave way and collapsed. X-ray and MRI revealed no broken bones or Torn ligament. This impingement will cost me at least 16 weeks...I'm a professional coach and I think it happened because of my already broken collar. This video is extremely helpful and I will be purchasing the book!! If anyone has questions (just reply) because this happened from a bench(Bar)

Was the pain in the front of the shoulder for you? Also what did you find that worked? Mine was also benching.
@winterramos45273 ай бұрын
@@logankoehler my entire shoulder was at play. I literally couldn't move it. I did slow...very very movement from watching KZbin videos on "Shoulder rehabilitation"...11weeks now, and I'm fortunate enough to have 85% of my mobility back. I'm actually doing dumbbell bench press with 50lb..incline and flat ...but taking it slow ... What is your injury bro bro? Also the MRI and X-ray showed no broken bones

I just started working out again and bought a weight bench. Been doing pretty good until I tried to yank my loaded trailer onto the ball hitch after not backing up far enough. Ugh. If only I had backed up 2 more inches I wouldn't be in such pain and still be able to work out properly.
