3 months ago ,I was admitted in Hospital because My arm was very painful and stuck..... after a week in hospital and ruling out surgery I was discharged with meds but I still sleep with pain and only use My arm 60% ..My pinky is completely bent and until today I found some relief doing these exercises. Thank you very much... I also find placing the arm on a pillow when you work at a desk for long hours helps. And also drinking camomile tea first thing in the morning and right before bed gave a somewhat relief...love and appreciation from Johannesburg South Africa.

Just found your channel. Are these exercises safe if one has a 3-level cervical fusion C4-C7? I have disc herniations above and below the fusion, but not completely pushing on my spinal cord. I think anything overhead is bad for someone like me. I'd love to see a video geared toward safe exercises for people with an ACDF. I know it's not a common situation, but there are patients out there like that. Thank you :)

@RehabScience
@RehabScience 11 сағат бұрын
Yes, adding mobility exercises can help reduce pain and soreness as long as you don’t push into pain. If you are extremely sore, I would start with the first exercise in this video and start the others once your soreness starts to reduce.

I've a supraspinatus tendon with some tears, bursitis, long head biceps tendon partially subluxed laterally all as a result of a fall which fractured the humeral head. So yes, there's stress involved but the stress didn't cause it. Oh, and also some tears in subscap tendon, bursitis at elbow and general agony. And I never believe the stress component stuff. They always fall back on that when their physical theories don't quite fit with the imaging. If you ask me that's because the imaging isn't good enough. We just kid ourselves we are geniuses but in 300 years (if we haven't blown ourselves up) humans will look back and say our imaging techniques were a bit primitive. And they may say the same about our understanding of biomechanics , but i feel it's more the imaging.
@RehabScience
@RehabScience 16 сағат бұрын
We rely way too much on biomechanics and imaging when trying to understand pain. Pain neuroscience research over the past 15-20 years has very much taught us that we need to widen our lens and consider all of the other factors (stress, emotions, beliefs, sleep, nutrition, etc) that can influence the pain experience.

squating put more pressure on the knee , I think its contra indicated please explain this
@RehabScience
@RehabScience 15 сағат бұрын
Squatting is not contraindicated. This is an outdated belief. Strengthening the surrounding muscles (quads especially) helps to offload passive/static structures including cartilage. Obviously, if someone experiences pain with squats, then we would look to modify the movement (decreased ROM, less weight, altered biomechanics, etc).

I dislocated/relocated my knee 3 times when I was younger and now that I'm in my 30s, my knee tends to "act up" when it rains and just absolutely randomly sometimes. Usually rest and heat or ice (depending on what I have to do for the rest of the day) helps. I'm gonna try these out next time my knee decides to stop working. Thanks!

Thank you for your video , i have one question : why does the front shoulder pain re-appear at night when i am sleeping. The pain is so intense the it wakes me uo. Thank you .
@RehabScience
@RehabScience 18 сағат бұрын
Biceps tendinopathy is often aggravated at night, especially if you sleep on the painful side or on your back. When sleeping on your back, the shoulder drops into extension as the arm lies on the bed, which places stress on the tendon. If you sleep on your back, I would recommend putting a pillow under your arm so that your shoulder rests in a more neutral position. Try to avoid sleeping on the painful side.

My knees hurt when i go up the stairs and when I do squats. I do most of these exercises, but I didn't know about the heel slide. I've never had a knee injury or an mri. Is it okay to exercise one leg more than another if you know that leg is weaker? I typically use my right leg to get up off the floor, so now I'm trying to use my left leg more. I think it makes sense. Thanks ❤😊

Today's video covers rehab exercises for a degenerative meniscus tear, which is the most common type of meniscus tear we see in physical therapy. The meniscus is a C-shaped tissue between your femur (thigh bone) and your tibia (shin bone). Each knee has a medial (inner side) meniscus and a lateral (outer side) meniscus. The meniscus is composed of water, collagen, proteins and other cellular elements. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬? The meniscus is a shock absorber that helps optimize force transmission across the knee and protects the cartilage on the end of our femur and tibia. The medial meniscus is also a secondary stabilizer to the ACL as it can prevent anterior translation (forward shifting) of the tibia. 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲? Tears in the outer 1/3 of the meniscus have healing potential because there is blood flow to that area. However, tears in the inner 2/3 generally do not heal well as a result of poor circulation. 𝐃𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲? No. All meniscus tears do not require surgery. Surgery is indicated if you have mechanical symptoms such as locking. Otherwise, you should try conservative management first. This includes NSAIDs (anti-inflammatories), physical therapy, and finally, injections. If you fail conservative therapy and do not have arthritis, you may then be a candidate for surgery. 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐝𝐨? Exercises that encourage knee mobility, motor control and strength can help to reduce pain and improve function. *My new book contains comprehensive rehab programs for the 50 most common injuries and pain issues, including one for meniscus tears. How do I know if I have this or referred pain from cervical spinal stenosis C5 C6 issues? Thank you!
@RehabScience
@RehabScience Күн бұрын
It’s definitely important to rule out referral from the neck. We have specific tests we would utilize if you came into physical therapy. Otherwise, you would want to pay attention to whether or not neck movements aggravate your shoulder symptoms. You can also try the exercises in my cervical stenosis video below. If they help improve your shoulder symptoms, then you may be experiencing some referral from the neck. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIbHYnWhh92hn5osi=Nadopfw5Lyv9y1cD
