With Uber I always text the customer on the status like ‘still waiting for order’ Or ask the customer if they would like to have extra sauce or napkins etc. With pizza delivery I always get crushed peppers and Parmesan pkts and napkins. They appreciate little gestures like these.

I’ve decided to attached hand written post it’s on the customer’s receipts with loving messages like “you are worthy of love” stuff like that. I know that’s pretty deep but ppl really need to hear that stuff, you never know what ppl are going through. It also doesn’t take me very long to write 20 notes a day. It makes me feel like I’m doing something that matters. 😊 I’ll say 8/10 I’ll get at least 50% tips. I think it’s worth the try!

My #1 suggestion is be cheerful and courteous. If you see the customer when leaving say something nice like Enjoy your food! Have a smile on and give good communication. I always indicate that I've picked up their food and am on the way so they know when it's now in MY hands vs. possible delays at the pickup location.

Higher concentration of customers may make order pickup faster, the drive shorter, but delivering to a campus or a high-rise complex can eat up time trying to drop off the food. I try to avoid the areas with lots of apartments and schools to lessen the aggravation of having difficult drop offs.

I always communicate my ETA when I’m leaving the restaurant. So if I go to McDonald’s and it’s 10 minutes from them I shoot them a message with their name like “hey Charles! Will be there in 10 minutes :)” and usually they’ll go back and tip extra for communication.

I don’t recommend university areas. Mostly fast food and no tips from young college people. I rather focus on high end areas stack orders . Make sure during dinner time you’re around nice steak or sushi places . Always text customer before you arrive and ask for a building code or instructions on how to get to apartment. This will save you time and give you more opportunities to get to next order quickly. Good luck to all .

UE really effed me up for one stacked order by sending me to the 2nd order's address first and the 1st order's address second. Literally every other time they do it in order received. So I mixed up two orders. One of the orders went to this residential house and the second went to a local university. The one that called me to say he got the wrong order was the university student. I couldn't believe my eff up. I apologized to the kid and told him I can try to go back to the first delivery and see if they still have it at the door or go back to the restaurant and pay for a new order. He was like nah, I'll just eat this, it's ok. I apologized again and he said "it's ok. it was nice talking to you" I said, "I'm sorry?" He said it again and I returned the pleasantry. Luckily the kid was super cool. He and the other order still left the tip and didn't hurt my rating which is still 5 stars. I got lucky. But, I swore to myself I would never make that same mistake again because it was so egregious.
@ashsmith1364

I do agree with the customer service aspect of it. When I don’t see an address on the door I call the customer to verify what the door looks like or the type of car in the drive way or if the restaurant is out of what was requested by the customer I see if we can do a substitute and I call the customer with that option. My tip seems bigger when i communicate

I always always text upon arrival at restaurants with “ Good morning , I’m just waiting for your order “ which opens the door for a reply ( often ) . Sometimes I’ll be told of a last minute change or other details. If I have a second pick up or stacked orders I’ll say “ I’ll be there as quick as I can” The number one rule in my book is to use HEAT BAGS. ! Why on earth Ubereats makes this an option is beyond me. I once did a $200 food order using 5 assorted bags. I got a $35 tip .Before the days of COVID when I would see customers face to face I would often let them know that I use my heated seats to keep their food warm. More tips. No kidding. Drive safe everyone.

Yeah if you don't have a space blanket bag you're screwing yourself. I'm actually going to order a couple more of the ones I have but, larger size. For people who deliver to apartments, make it EASY on yourself. Message the customer and ask them WHICH BUILDING NUMBER and if you go "left or right" when entering complex. I ask that and I find apartments a lot faster. I used to spend time hunting for buildings and driving in circles looking for the apartment number. I sometimes find the apartment map on the way in, which helps to. Apartments are CAKE now. I used to HATE apartments, but now I love em. I will deliver two orders at a time to the same complex from McDonalds and literally make $12-15 in a matter of minutes, with tip included. The mileage is so much easier on your vehicle, as well. Messaging your customers as you're waiting at the restaurant speeds up apartment deliveries. Don't think: "...I'm gonna find the apartment on my own." It's gonna irritate you to NO END looking for that apartment! LOL! Don't even try. Just message them.

For service members that do deliveries during non-duty hours: unless you're blown away by the offer, avoid delivering on post. You'd figure business booms because barracks soldiers hate mess hall food, but delivering on post isn't worth it most of the time. You run the risk of getting a full inspection at the gate, military police are far stricter than their civilian counterparts, the barracks are a nightmare to navigate and barracks soldiers tend to be poor tippers and communicators. Installations are usually big dead zones as well.
@Caligrowntrey

Very true statement. I did Dominoes on the side and every time I delivered on base, I rarely even got a tip. I didn’t let it get to me because I understand that is your prerogative, but I always found it funny because they would spend $40 or higher on an order and not even bother a tip. All off base deliveries I easily made tips.

@jackcarraway4707 2 жыл бұрын
@@CaligrowntreyLuckily some of my best tips came from on-post housing (using military lingo and mentioning I'm a barracks rat lets them know I'm an active SM). Good tip for universities but they don’t tip well usually. Younger, trying to save $, I get it. I’m gonna go to the ocean side where rich people live, and see if it makes a difference in the tips lol.

in new zeaqland they will only pay out the higher of the two boosted options.. so if surge pay is higher than the 1.2 boost. you will only be paid once, and at the higher amount.. but not both stacked to make a really big boost..

You need to do a video about the terrible decision Uber has made where they won't show you the upfront address if you decline only a few orders. It infuriates me as a driver.

Really? I just started and i decline orders that are taking me out of my bussy zone. Or zones where i probaly will not get good orders. If uber does this we are employes because they are controlling us. We are not self-employed

Unfortunately I live near bad inner city areas and those areas have the most restaurants and orders, but arent the safest, so I stick to the suburbs and since its summer and everyone is eating out, not much orders, been slow all summer. In the colder months I made a lot doing ubereats since everyone was inside.

I've been doing this for almost 2 months, countless hours and never received any promotions or anything. Only surge pay. I drive around collecting surge pay and then never get orders. Here in East PA it's a busy area lots of restaurants and Uber advertises make 17 an hour sign in now and I'll wait 3 hrs to get a 6 dollar order. A lot of miles and ware and tare on my vehicle for 6 dollars for 3 hours.

communication is key. I've gotten better tips from keeping people updated. did you show up and they said the order was gonna be another 5-10 minutes? send a quick message saying hey im here and your food is going to be ready is ___ minutes. I've had really good reactions to keeping customers informed and i think its helped my tips

I only made $41 in 3 hours this morning 7 trips ouch. I like Uber eats better because I don’t like the liability and safety aspect of hauling passengers but so far I’ve done better with Lyft in the phoenix area with ride share. I also don’t drive at night with passengers in my car after being assaulted for Uber. Also I highly recommend a dash cam for your safety and your customers.

I make $30-$35/hr at my local Domino's in Wisconsin. Yes I have to answer phones, do dishes, wait on customers at counter. But I drive a hell of a lot less miles. I'm in Tampa as a snowbird and tried Ubereats for a week and made $15/hr. Anybody in Tampa help me out?

You can easily identify customers that didn't tip in the app and I DO NOT accept those runs. NEVER. If they have a cash tip for the driver. Good for that driver that accepts it. I don't trust people to do the right thing and tip cash on no tip in the app. My tips are always at least 2-2.5 even 3 times what my net fares are. Uber Eats has a base net fare of 2 bucks up to about 2 or 3 miles. Then with each mile you get less per mile, maybe 50 cents/mile or something like that. You can use that approximate formula to see who isn't tipping in the app. Don't accept those deliveries. No driver should accept those orders EVER.

I started yesterday out of boredom on my 2 days off. My tip amounts are rising at a decent rate, I must be doing SOMETHING right, I think only 1 of them was over the pre-tip amount so I think I'm just finding the better pickups... How is Uber life in downtown (I'm up near Wexford/Ross Township)? I hate driving in cities, how do you manage deliveries/parking down there? I am envious of the surges down there but not sure I want to deal with the headaches...

I leave it at the door because not all customers have their phone numbers working or answer/respond to text, just as long as the door is completely visible, and we are in the busiest cities whereas being ticketed for parking at a meter can cost us, and Uber doesn't reimburse tickets. In the busiest town, I won't go up to the apartment unless I can double park (which I did). If I leave it at a door and the customer wants me to hand it to them, I'll wait a few mins in the car to see if they grab the food or meet up with me, and then take off. Just yesterday the customer takes the food and zips back into the building without giving the PIN. I texted her asking for the PIN. It took a few tries but she finally texted the PIN. I'm glad that she put a PIN, it makes it where the driver has to hand it. Plus, I have a PIN on my Uber account, too, but sometimes these folks who want to meet you at the door aren't ready. I've crafted an auto message when I'm 5-mins away for them to come downstairs if its not a house.
