My kids are grown now and on their own. Last year my youngest son asked me how to make my cornbread dressing. I read off the recipe to him (using guestimations for measurements) and when I read the last of the recipe to him, I asked him if he remembered my SECRET INGREDIENT. He got quiet for a minute then shouted…HAPPY THOUGHTS! Everyone near the dressing before it goes into the oven HAS to think happy thoughts! LOL I was so happy he remembered the secret ingredient!

I knew you were a great cook when you said a pone of cornbread. You make your dressing just as me and my family have for generations. Watching and listening to you is like going home. My grandmother used a wood cookstove most of her life.

My mom and grandma were southern ladies who cooked like you and your family did. I live in Arizona now, for about the last 10 years and my son is coming to visit and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to cook for him. But after watching your 4 dressing recipe video, I decided to make a thanksgiving meal, with your mom’s recipe and I’m going to put the chicken in the dressing. I’m 73 and I love your channel. It takes me back so much. Hi Chris! Love you guys! Jean from Arizona 🐍🦂🏜️🌻🦎🌵🌴

May I give you an egg peeling tip? Boil your eggs. Pour off the water. Immediately, while eggs are hot, vigorously shake the eggs in the pan. They will literally peel themselves. If you are not using all of them, put the rest into a ziplock baggie and put in refrigerator. DO NOT LEAVE THE EGG LEFTOVERS FOR LONG. Use as soon as possible. I hope you find this tip helpful and convenient.

Thank you Mrs.Tammy! My mama watched you ALOT, she passed in September and your mamas dressing is exactly how she made it besides the bread added. It’s my job this year to make it and I couldn’t for the life of me remember the steps even though I made it last year, which she was alive then to help if I had questions. So thank you, and Thursday I hope I make her proud!

I make my dressing the same way your Granny did except I always sauté my celery and onions ( I don’t like them crunchy). I was taught how to make it from my grandmother 60 years ago. I don’t think I would like chicken in my dressing unless it was a main course along with some veggies as a side. All your recipes look delicious Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family ❤️

My Mama and Grannys always used the drippings from the Turkey and a little bit of Chicken broth she had stored in the frigerator, cooked Cornbread, broke it up into a big bowl, a few slices of Loaf Bread tore up, added lots of Onion, Salt and Pepper, pour broth over the mixture, stirred it all up and baked it! Each cook and region does things differently. I don't know anyone who uses anything except cornbread in their dressing. Yes, I am an old lady born and raised in South Carolina. I remember back in the 50s seeing my mom stuff the turkey and cook it in the wood stove oven. I still make my dressing the same way (no biscuits or white bread or crackers).

A good tip on making corn bread for dressing is to add the extra eggs in your cornbread mix. This will eliminate the need to add the eggs when adding dry cornbread and your diced vegetables with seasonings. Many will call the cornbread “eggbread” because you have added your 2-3 extra eggs to the regular cornbread recipe. Once you have tried this, you will never go back to the old way of adding raw eggs and worrying if you have it at the proper temperature for your eggs. ❤

My bread: SR flour, SR cornmeal mix, eggs, oil, buttermilk together to have my bread-1/2 Biscuit, 1/2 Cornbread. Chip it up real good. 13X9. Then raw & boiled eggs, poultry seasoning only, broth, no celery, add onion, cream of Ch soup, Enough broth until it’ll pour like cake batter-pour out by itself with a little help w a spoon. (I had a hard time learning how thick/thin it should be) I like your shortcut, I’ll try it tomorrow! Looks great! 💖 Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I love your KZbin channel. I found you about two months ago and it is a lifesaver for me this year. I fell on a wet deck and broke my ankle, my hip, my arm between the shoulder and the elbow and my shoulder. I had extensive hip replacement surgery and the drs thought i would need shoulder replacement but, Thank God, the shoulder replacement was not necessary. I was wondering how i was going to be able to cook Thanksgiving dinner. My family has always came to my house for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. So i saw your original video of your crockpot dressing and decided i would test it out. I have never used boxed dressing mix, i make my dressings like your Mom, as my mom did except without the hard boiled eggs. Mom put turkey or chicken in hers but i cook the Turkey separately. I love dressing, it is actually my favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner. So i tested your crockpot dressing, called my sister and son to come over and test it out. Wow, they loved it, i liked it too, still my fav is our Moms way, but i am fixing two crockpots of this, without the veggies, for Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for a recipe for folk that need a helping hand. Each family member is bring an assigned veggie, and others a dessert. So again i love your site and again thanks so much for your original receipt. I agree with you, you should come up with more original recipes. I love your home cooking style. My Grandmother and Mom were both excellent Southern cooks and i was always under their feet in the kitchen…….but i learned so much from them Thank you for keeping the Southern Style of cooking going on to the next generations. I was born in the Atlanta area but my family moved back to Arkansas when I was two years old. I took an assignment to manage a computer facility in Atlanta for a year. I lived in Fayetteville, Georgia. I loved my stay in Georgia! But i came back to the Arkansas Ozark’s that year to cook Christmas dinner! A Fantastic Thanksgiving to everyone!

My mama put 6 eggs hard boiled for 10 minutes diced small and folded into the dressing mixture.. I think that most southern cooks start with the recipe that’s been handed down and tweak it, from there, to make their own traditional dishes.. I sat down with my 90 yr old mama and we made her dressing and I wrote down the directions, because Mama had no idea about any of the measurements, since she had made it so many times, she just knew how much of the ingredients to use..

I love the color of your lipstick. Can you share the name brand, please? In the first video second half where you taste it and your daughter was coming. It look like a dark lipstick.

Tammy, I am in charge of making giblet gravy this year; my mom has always done it but she doesn’t cook a lot anymore(she’s having some trouble getting around at 84😢)…. anyway, I’m nervous about making it so I am watching your video and my only question is , if I use the giblets from the turkey do I use all of the meat on the neck? I mean obviously the giblets are quite a bit larger than the chicken giblets you used in this video. 🤷🏻‍♀️ thanks!

I absolutely love your crockpot turkey supper. That was so smart to come up with a recipe like that. I will definitely be making that soon. Thanks Mrs. Tammy, hope y'all have a good Thanksgiving.

Wow my Nanny from Cedartown Ga made her dressing just like that! Only difference was a little bit of baking powder and we just use stale white bread. Glad that I have an exact recipe that I can give my daughter because of course my grandmother didn't have one, thank you!
