Absolutely love this pickup honestly. We have been trending away from Caleb since his OU visit and it seems far fetched that we would land him anyway. And Garrett is no slouch either. Kid has an absolute cannon for an arm and already has undeniably great decision making for his age. Once he gets honed in, he will be slinging it at the college level, no doubt in my mind. At the end of the day, we need to just trust what Coach O and the staff are doing.

In my opinion, Nuss is one of the best qbs in high school. I think he's better than Caleb Williams. Both are elite. Caleb is more of a runner while Nuss has similar skill set to Burrow. I'm not saying he's got it in between the ears like Burrow, I'm just saying they are similar in athletic traits only. Nuss is shorter but has better arm strength.

I'm not surprised in the least that elite QBs are far more willing to commit to LSU. As LSU fired the primary reason why LSU never could attract decent QBs when they fired Les Miles. Hell, I would never have let my own kid commit to LSU if he was a QB and Les Miles was still the head football coach. As he would have inevitably ruined his career.

Yeah, at this point I’m not well enough informed on Caleb Williams to say he is better or worse than Nussmeier, but I have to trust enough that a guy like Scott Linehan and a guy like Ensminger can evaluate the QB spot better than a 247 composite score, at least as it relates to the offense LSU runs now. And I like that LSU is getting guys who are clearly gifted ball players but also have minds that have been developed by elite level football players and coaches. Max Johnson’s rather quiet, unwavering commitment to LSU is exactly what I want to see. Kid has no desire for attention. He’s just a measly 4 star recruit, you know, just a 90.9 on the 247 Composite scale that Moscona thinks is so important, just the number 10 Pro Style QB in the nation... You know. What Moscona might call “not bad.” (Sarcasm off now) And he commits to LSU in NOVEMBER OF 2018. Never wavers. Didn’t go to his home state school. Didn’t go to his dad’s alma mater. Didn’t go to his uncle’s then school. Didn’t even blink. Now LSU gets Nussmeier. Similar pedigree. Guys, if you land QBs that are sons of NFL QBs and QB coaches, they’ll come in as prepared as any player in the country. And they understand what commitment to the craft means. I’ll take a Nussmeier now over a Williams later knowing all that.

Not to take anything away from Joe Burrow's absolutely historic 2019 season but he's the first LSU QB since Matt Flynn back in 2007 to do anything of note in CFB, meanwhile OU just became the first university to pump out 3 QBs taken Rounds 2 or higher of the NFL draft in 3 consecutive years during the common draft era, including 2 Heisman trophy winning #1 picks. I mean if you extend it back a bit you could even include Sam Bradford to that list. If there is an objective standard for being "QBU" I'm pretty sure OU would reach it.

I don't know what city you are from but to the last 30 years comment; 1) Running backs and wide receivers in high school are the best athletes. 2) Quarterback is usually politics. 3) Many running backs and wide receivers could play quarterbacks. More so on Ravens quarterback style as opposed to traditional pocket QB. 4) It is not the State of Louisiana. It is not the players. Coaches know the "one". They often have sons, cousins, or political/economic factors at play.

I think he’s a good recruiter but if he was the best in the game or an elite recruiter he wouldn’t of let play maker / high potential major burns go to Georgia, (for whatever reason, maybe they wanted somebody else) but directly after that one of the best WRs in the cycle Burton left (a hard commit) for Georgia, AND the #1 WR left for Maryland.. Those were big loses / mistakes in the end that cost them, idk if they got cocky based on the season they were having, but something caused those guys to leave during a record winning season. He’s a good recruiter that is operating out of a big premier program that should work in his favor, far from the best. I watched every LSU game last season, what he and the team did was historical.
@INoticeTooMuch14 жыл бұрын
@Ray Screen those two receivers de committed bc they didn’t want to compete/ wait for a starting job. We also got a 5 star Boutte at WR, and 4 stars Koy Moore and Alex Adams in the class. Those guys didn’t want to hear that they weren’t going to be starting Year 1 or 2 so they left, why would we want guys who don’t want to put the team first? And lmao Major burns? Yeah dude was good but we already got the #5 S in the country to add to a loaded DB room (he was #13) Vincent, Stevens, Harris, Mo Hampton and like 3 or 4 guys adding depth. Safety wasn’t a priority last recruiting cycle bc we had needs elsewhere.
@rayscreen50524 жыл бұрын
clippy dippy yeah I agree that was one of the reasons for the decommits, I also told my buddy who’s an LSU fanboy that you’d 100% see wrs leave bc that reason alone.. It’s not that they’re not team players, they’re just trying to play sooner and not have to wait around in a loader wr room. Those 2 are both guys that can play anywhere day 1 though, they were the best wrs in that class and you’ll see that in their careers. I just didn’t think they’d lose 2 and specially those 2 guys. You’re right about burns, not a big decommit. We’re really gonna see how elite coach O is with those big loses, Brady a 1 & done, and changing up the style of the offense slightly with a 1st year pocket guy like brennon. But brennon could have a huge year too, it’s definitely possible.

IF Caleb commits to LSU, I think Garrett will bounce. Frankly, I don’t think there’s enough difference between a 5 star and a 4 star. It’s just a bunch of men guessing. Not enough to worry. What, do you think a team of all 5 star players is automatically gonna beat a team of all 4 star? Not on your life. They got 60 minutes of football they gotta play, and it is football you know!
