I would add from experience that 1) the list of low histamine foods is subjective. 2) If you get reactions from probiotics, try opening the capsule and sprinkling the smallest dose you can handle 3) alphalipoic acid has worked for me (removes toxins such as mercury) to reduce anxiety and food sensitivity.

In my experience adding any type of probiotics before you control your SIBO is like throwing gasoline on a fire. Controlling SIBO is tricky, it keeps coming back. I had to add HCl and enzymes plus Atrantil or christopher’s Liver &Gallbladder to every meal. This combo keeps my SIBO under control and I am almost back to normal diet (still strictly gluten- free and limit dairy)
@DrRuscioDCАй бұрын
I’m so glad to hear you’ve had some improvement! And you’re right - for some, introducing probiotics too early in the process of treating SIBO is like adding fuel to the fire. But for others, probiotics can actually help correct dysbiosis. It’s very individual. That said, we always recommend starting with a low FODMAP diet as a first step, and certainly considering antibiotic or antimicrobial therapy.

Thanks for this information. I've been following a lower histamine diet for the past several weeks and I've found that it's helped clear up the almost completely block sinuses I get at around 4 AM in the morning. I found it difficult to follow though considering I've been following Low Fodmap at the same time. I thought it might help with me falling asleep earlier, but it made no change to my sleep. What a treasure you are doc. Thank you so much for putting in the time to help those with HIT. It is such a frustrating issue to have. I have had it for 10 years. Not sure if it was triggered by perimenopause or too much kimchi. I also have very high copper levels so it’s hard to pinpoint what is the cause. Everything worse in spring. Face and eyes swelling. Citrus, tomatoes, fermented foods, are huge triggers. But strangely not red wine. Have you any experience with Megasporebiotics or spore based probiotics? Healing the gut sounds like the key. Or at least a good start. Many of us with HIT live hoping one day this issue will be solved and we can enjoy life again. Thank you doc. Have subscribed 🙏

My problem with the advice that we need to restore bacterial balance in our gut is most probiotics increase histamine or trigger MCAS. I’ve been through over half a dozen probiotics and they all made me very ill and I’ve not found a practitioner yet that is aware of any probiotics that don’t cause a histamine reaction. Every single time my doctor cleared my SIBO and started to restore gut balance again by including probiotics, the overgrow to returned. Been through this numerous times now since 2018. My ND gave me HCL and I ended up with esophagitis.

Forgot to ask, how does your doc know if SIBO is clear? Breath test? Those are woefully Inaccurate by the looks of things ie, if you have leaky gut the gases emitted by the SIBO can go through your lining, plus other mishaps.

Thank you for sharing - I’m so sorry to hear this. How are you doing now? It’s also possible to repopulate the gut through strategic diet alone, which may make it easier to manage your histamine intolerance. Have you found success with that?
@TheNaturemamaАй бұрын
@ I still struggle. Now I was told just to take antimicrobials every few months since I can’t restore gut health with probiotics. I’ve been looking for a book that explains which diet helps restore healthy balanced gut bacteria but so far no luck. I can control SIBO symptoms to an extent with the SCDiet. I can mostly prevent MCAS flares with a low histamine diet. But Ive dropped to 106 lbs from 140 so it has been rough. I know if I could restore gut health I’d be good, it’s just figuring out how to do that when I can’t take probiotics or eat fermented foods like yogurt. 😞
@subwayfacemelt4325Ай бұрын
@@TheNaturemamabummer dude, what is SC diet? Before I jabber on, do you have a root canal or crown, etc? Sometimes people's years long gut problems begin in the mouth or sinuses, and dental work like that can create a pocket in which sibo/LIBO can make a home... Constantly leaking into the stomach and gut. Some peeps are cured in 24 to 48 hours after they get the dentistry redone/replaced/reworked. Back to my story that might help yours: I was heading for a wheelchair from arthritis and chronic fatigue this year. I tried probably every elimination diet over the last decade plus for what seems to be MCAS/SIBO/LIFO/HI/EDS/POTS/oxalates/CFS/leaky gut/whateva... All I got was worse, sometimes the changes worked for a day or two, but soon everything came back and continued to worsen. My dietitian gave up in July and said "try carnivore" (I can't digest plants), she also prescribed ElementAll Diet because of my low weight (Dr. Ruscio sells something that looks the same). I started carnivore with skinless chicken breast roasted, eaten with lots of cold butter and salt (iodised!!) . Supplementing w/ ElementAll between meals, concentrating on giving my gut a rest (don't eat too much or too often, chew thoughtfully, a lot) and not feeding sibo/fo/libo/FO (drink ElementAll SLOWLY) . Gradually I was able to get off ElementAll (full of excipients, I was reacting to it) and introduce eggs (thoroughly cook whites) , steak that hasn't been aged long, low carb dairy or small serves of normal. Going to try pork soon. I was trying to go vegan to heal about 5 years ago but it quickly made things worse. I seem to have the fibre problem that Dr. Ruscio talks about in the middle of this video. Veges come out of me looking exactly the same as they go in. Anyway, carnivore turned it all around, and in a matter of weeks, I was doing intense weight sessions... Previous to that I was barely able to walk most of the time. Hope you find what you need.

I really wish you were my doctor. I’ve been dealing with histamine issues for 5 years. I’ve seen 3 gastroenterologists and no answers just prescribed Pepcid. I’ve seen 3 regular doctors and only showed any concerns with my symptoms and ordered an MCAS test, which was negative. I’ve had an upper scope done, my gallbladder checked with no real problems. I have trouble with regular bowel movements, nausea and vomit often, bloating and pain in my digestive system and severe itchy rashes. I had more severe symptoms but they went away after I cut most plant based foods from my diet. I basically had all the symptoms one can have with histamine intolerance. No doctor could figure out what was wrong with me. It took me 3 years of research and a lucky break on a KZbin video to figure out what was going on with me. Now it’s like talking to a wall when I talk to a doctor about it. Thank you for all this information.

You need to look at the actual FODMAP list of foods in greater detail because it's not just the histamine but what type of histamine that you can narrow down. Some people will be really sensitive to glucose for example so the lost will show all the foods that either do or don't have it and what are or aren't safe levels to consume. Some foods will be labeled red meaning avoid, yellow meaning a certain amount can be eaten but more than that can raise it high and green meaning you can eat it safely. Please be aware if you look at it carefully and understand what histamines are causing issues then you can understand what gut critters may be acting up. If the histamine patterns are "sugar" based then the chances of it being candid are higher and you can look at that closer and be able to confirm and treat better. FODMAP diet is a temporary treatment and you want people to eat as many foods as they can for good health. Also, foods like wheat and dairy are more complicated because of how things are grown/raised and processed so sensitivity to that can be the cause. Even the differences in what breed of dairy cow the milk is from can cause gut issues. Something to seriously consider using with nutrition in a plan would be red light therapy for a variety of reasons relating to biome health and specifically in the cells sonce mitochondria actually will take up excess glucose in the system causing lowering of blood sugars and stabilizing the gut environment. Dr. Kruse would be a great place to start in understanding these ideas and the body would produce and use melatonin naturally to balance itself and taking oral melatonin wouldn't be needed and should be done with caution anyway according to newer research.
