There are multiple sources that contribute to the level of histamine in your body (or your histamine pool), while there are 2 enzymes that help your body clear it. In this video, I talk about the things you can do short term to overcome histamine intolerance and how to get a long-term lasting solution, without depending on antihistamine medications.
Antihistamine medications are not recommended for long-term use. Watch minute 9:21 for details.

Most mainstream physicians will not tell you to get off of their synthetic drugs and to change diet and take healthy supplements. We're on our own with this and have to seek out information like that in this video. The mainstream community is honestly destructive and is all about money and stock prices. After 4 1/2 years of strict carnivore, drinking coffee daily, and an extremely stressful event, I now have histamine intolerance for the first time in my life. Oh-and I overdid fermented foods in an attempt to improve my gut bacteria. What a mistake. If I don’t take a Benadryl at night I don’t sleep, that’s when I’m the itchiest. It’s insane. But I will try to not take it. Thank you for explaining what antihistamines do. And people-stop drinking that poisonous drug, coffee!! It ruins your gut!! (Decaf too) UPDATE: After doing GAPS intro diet for 5 weeks my leaky gut healed and my itching improved but I still was not having good BMs. I was able to stop taking Benadryl but still had to take quercetin. Then I discovered Karen Hurd’s bean protocol and it has been a miracle. It got my bowels moving in ONE DAY and after 4 weeks of consistent, multiple daily bowel movements my histamine and itching is GONE, hallelujah thank You Jesus! I now eat fermented food with every meal and NO REACTION. Did I have gas? Yes, for one day. And really bad gas too. But it subsided, and my whole digestive system felt better than it had in years. My GERD went away. My bloat went away. My transit time for digestion went up (it was so slow before) so no more gastroparesis. I will never stop eating beans again. The protocol is 1/2 a cup 3x a day. Easy. God’s foods heal-not drugs, not supplements. Try it. What do you have to lose? PS I also don’t use the drug caffeine anymore either. 🙂

Same here. Carnivore for 18months and developed a forehead rash which I suspect is histamine. I came off carnivore and started taking loads of probiotics and eating lots of unpasteurised sauerkraut which was making my rash go wild!! I drink coffee daily on an empty stomach. The thought of Life without it is miserable. What do you have instead?

Great video! You confirmed that I need to speak up about my runny nose when I eat when I see my doctor again. After experiencing physical induced hives all my life, and getting hives from cold 10 years ago (like my feet would get frostbite feeling on a cold floor) and dermatographia, a rheumatologist told me to plan to take zyrtec the rest of my life. I am now getting tested for celiac disease/sensitivity and my doctor has me on a mast cell activation drug called ketotifen. No doctor has talked to me about histamines so far, but the ketotifen does seem to be helping with the hives at least. I have an energy drink habit, though. . . so maybe it's time to finally ditch them.

I also have POTS and histamine avoidance is crucial for those who do. I've been using Diamine oxidase (DAO) for a few years now and it has helped to prevent POTS attacks. It's lessened by body's histamine load from other sources (gut infection, mold exposure, etc.). The brand NATURDOA makes Legumeactive (made with legumes, not pigs...gross) from Spain. They ship to the US and for the quantity and concentration of the tablets, I feel it is a reasonably priced preventative.

And now I’m glad to know why my histamine intolerance has increased so much. Unfortunately regular doctors don’t ever think along these lines. 100% connection between histamine and gut issues. There are several things that raise histamine of course but I’m not surprised to hear that people feel worse with IBS flare up. antihistamines are NOT supposed to be used as longterm solution and it’s unfortunate how many people still don’t know that. If you need help with addressing your own histamine triggers, please use the link in the description to book a session.

thank you sister for this informative video! I am one of those people with histamine and mold issues, crazy sensitives, autoimmune, deficient, and mast cell. Have you had clients who flare up with crazy symptoms with supplements at first, and then start healing if they keep going? It seems to be the case for me for lots of things (especially vitamins), because it starts to reverse the process of illness and goes backward into healing. So for some things, i had to fight through the worst to get to being better. And i met lots of people on the same boat. But most people quit a supplement when they try it at first and get bad reactions…so they just continue avoiding it, not knowing that it’s a sign they started healing and could’ve continued. Reactions like hives though are not one of the good ones. 😅

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Mosquito bites trigger my histamine. The 'aha' moment, there were a couple, I never knew about mold. My apartment does not get any sunlight, the bathroom has mold on the ceiling, the kitchen has mold in the top and bottom cupboards and also on a part of the kitchen ceiling. The bedroom wooden furniture, board surfaces and cardboard boxes have mold on them. How to get rid of all these molds? I also didn"t know about the candida and parasites and virus enablers. Never heard of DAO. I did not know about the anti-histamines not being such a great idea. I"ve been taking the pills for the itchy bites which take months to heal and then leave black marks on my skin. Didn"t know the connection between the itching and hives and headaches. Didn't know diet could help to control histamine. Thank you so much again.😊

Thank you so much for your wonderful video. I think I now understand why I’ve developed histamine intolerance. I’ve had chronic UTIs for years and have been in a myriad of antibiotics. The longest I’ve gone without them is 5 months. I was heartbroken when I developed another UTI a few weeks ago. I’ve been on the diet since October and it has helped but I’d love to eat some of the high histamine foods again. Seems like I’m not going to be able to overcome the histamine problem until the UTI infections end but there seems to be no solution to that. Very discouraged!!

Try D Mannose for the UTI - I went through same thing yrs ago for 2 yrs having kidney infections taking useless antibiotics which I would never normally take - that’s actually when I started to get diagnosed w fibromyalgia and low or no DAO…. Anyway the allopathic route was to take antibiotics prophylactically which I refused and researched that d mannose was more effective - bought a mountain load expecting to have to take daily but actually never had another kidney infection! First sense of something take d mannose and it’s gone - but it’s cheap and big pharma can’t make money off larch sugar! Good luck, never get disheartened - get curious - there’s solutions always -often not through trad medicine though

Very good and clear overview. I suspect I have a genetical Dao deficiency cause I've been suffering since childhood. I got hyves after I caught covid last year. Covid was just a throat ache but the hyves almost gone now after one year of low histamine and high vitamin c and quercetin. Glad the grenades are back available cause these help a lot in the cleaning up process.

Oh’my goodness, I just saw an allergist and was prescribed 3 different antihistamines. I’ve taking different antihistamines my entire adult life and have several food allergies. I wanted to get another food allergy test since the last food allergy test was 30 years ago, but she was against the testing. I expressed my concerns for add more medication to my daily routine and possible tolerance to the medicines, but only negative feedback. The craziest part of this is, I’ve taken all of the newly proscribed medications and they don’t work for me. I am so grateful to find your channel! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.😊

You now the choice of DAO supplements. Pig or sprouts. Found that my food lifestyle was very high in histamine. Liberators, leftovers, fermented foods. Rule for leftovers; one day - that’s it. Kind of sucks, but totally worth it. Careful of buying food that sits in the fridge for weeks before eating. Buy for the next 2/3 days. Healthier to do this versus getting histamine overdose from aged foods. Also , think about how much perishable food you have to throw out on a monthly basis. Though you might be at the grocery store more, you’re going to save a lot of money on food shopping for 2/3 days only.

I was put on sodium cromoglicate, ketotifen, and H1 and H2 anti-histamines. I found taking DAO was better than the antihistamines when taken with Quercetin, vit C plus Zinc, and b vitamins and magnesium. I do take ketotifen at night as it stops the racing thoughts, and headaches. Half a tablet means I sleep a bit better. I now use very moderate amounts of fermented food every other day, or so. Your approach is thorough. Oh, and watch those FODMAPS and processed foods. The fresher the food, the better. In its natural form. Get lots of fibre too, and I use electrolytes. It’s a daily balancing act.

Persistent use of antihistamines suppresses the guts' production of hydrochloric acid, which is the last thing you want for gut health. Food not well broken down leads to dismotility, inflammation, and possible leaky gut syndrome. Then, when you stop taking the antihistamines, the gut ramps up the hydrochloric acid again which generally leads to overproduction and dyspepsia, i.e; heartburn.

I've been saying it now for a year and a half. Everything thing on your video of foods etc to avoid is what I live on. I've been feeling like I'm going crazy. I've seen other drs they where like it's presenting like scabies but I didn't have scabies. After a year of using scabies cream. Nothing. I've been taking antihistamines now since aug 2022. I'm living in hell. To make it worse the drs make me feel crazy cause 9/10 times they visually can't see anything. Now I'm being told it's dermatitis and on steroid creams. I'm going to do a month on the foods you suggested I'm just wondering should I stop Metformin as well as stoping the antihistamines?

I have been on the low histamine diet for 6+ months but still dealing with itching, and tingling in my legs, bouts of GI distress etc. I suspect I have always been a low DAO producer, but my doc does not even think to investigate these areas. He just writes me off as having chronic fatigue and offers no treatment or referral to a specialist to look into potential GI issues.

You would be a great candidate for food sensitivity testing. You may be reacting to other foods not just high histamine foods. And you need to address the underlying gut problems. I was getting severe itching angioedema every day, and when OTC medications ran out, I had to go to a prescription that cost a lot, had to be taken every day, and still barely controlled it, and I wasn't happy. I ran across a paper that tested people on high dose of methlyfolate, B6 and B12 combo for 90 days, so I tried it, and was able to get off the prescription, and I rarely even take the claritin, now. I still take a low dose of the supplement combination, and I take magnesium anyway for creaks in the joints. Very interested to hear about B2 being involved, and I'm making a list of anything else I haven't tried. When I am badly overweight, and any time I have an infection (bad tooth, sinus, whatever) that's when I notice more trouble with it. I will have to add ginger to my nettle tea, now. :)
