Here are the basics (4 A's) of the talk again primarily because I wanna remember them: A1 = Assessment. Do you noticed everything in your surrounding? Ask someone else to prevent that you missed something potentially important. A2 = Analyse. What of the Informations are truly important in this situation? What can I forget right away? Informations which might be needed in the future you should keep also. A3 = Articulate. Write the important stuff down or talk about it. Just like this great comment. A4 = Adapt. Use the informations to act or change your behavior accordingly. For example get a sheet of paper to write down the four A's the next time your full attention is needed and the decision you make counts.

It's empowering when you know why you made a decision and are willing to take responsibility for it, good or bad because historically you've had the foresight to plan, sometimes years in advance.

One day I went back home with my son from school. The weather was hot. The road where we live has no beauty. I was full of problems driving and my son said "Dad, stop the car! look at that bee! It is colecting nectar from the flower." Tha flower was small, and the bee was alone, but what he saw I would never see. That view change my day.

As an air traffic controller this sounds a lot like the process we go through in our "scan". We run through these steps/process every few seconds.

I have situational awareness and in kinda proud now
@Sheldonthesnail
@Sheldonthesnail 7 жыл бұрын
Increasing your situational awareness in all aspects and in all things is often the key to success. Ever wonder why some people seem to pick most things up quickly and others slowly? A lot would say this has to do with intelligence and to a degree it does but all intelligence is is the ability to learn and remember. Awareness is having the cognitive focus to interpret it. You can't increase your raw or basic intelligence but you can train it to observe and interpret more efficiently and more accurately. You don't just "have situational awareness." Situational awareness is the mental state of constantly being observant and inquisitive. plying the knowledge to whatever is needed.

It is amazing nowadays to see that parenting and educating a child as become so bad, that there needs to be a book and someone talking about how to deal with your everyday obstacles or problems in life... Specially if you are now an adult. #thinkbeforeyouact

@WTFate 8 жыл бұрын
Actually, isn't it that we just don't see all of the visible light on the one spectrum we know exists? Would it be more "Other light on the spectrum exists we can't see" rather than "Other spectrums of light Exist."? I could be wrong, idk much about this.

Totally, I go through that "4 A's" (18 level) checklist of steps through my mind EVERY time I'm overwhelmed by too many details regarding an important decision... Should I up vote this video? 1st- assess the situation, 2d- categorize knowns and unknowns.... 3d- ask a friend what they saw, 4th-...... No... But I hope she sells a million books.

She talked about the points in a digestible, 5 minute format. Not every medium is perfect for every situation and audience, as some people watch videos and others read books. Some even watch videos and then read books that the video shared ideas and themes on.

@civilsavant6072

Amy, you need to re-evaluate the assess and act portions of this concept. The typical human is blind, and fails to see what should be obvious. Seeking other perspectives on available information has a 1:65431747098347589 chance of proving fruitful. Acting implies freedom. How many people have the freedom to make a decision and then act on it? Very few. I hope I have articulated my analysis adequately.
@puskajussi37
@puskajussi37 8 жыл бұрын
Civil Savant Everyone has their biases and that leads to what we perceive. Thus multiple people can easily come up with more complete and usefull picture of the situation. Action in the optimal situation means lack of freedom, a situation where one solution is clearly superior. Thus the more possible solutions a group of people can come up with means the more likely it is for them to find adequately optimal solution.

@brashlybold8805
@brashlybold8805 8 жыл бұрын
daneg007 Well the soldier would certainly be trained in spatial awareness, shit spatial awareness means death so already they'd trump a lawyers advice, a neuroscientist would know about the physiological mechanisms in the brain that are responsible for spatial awareness that's why i'd rather see a friggon scientist at the very least explain something like this.
