I’ve always wanted to try elements of hip hop production with my music, but I have no real idea of how to do that. So here’s an experimental guess.
I sampled part of the intro to “Reflections” by Diana Ross and the Supremes, from a wildly dusty old 45. I literally held my phone up to the speaker and used the GarageBand “sampler” tool.
Then I came up with an 808 beat, and cussed a whole lot trying to sync up the tempos. And then I added a few percussion noises and made this.
The cigar box guitar is tuned somewhere in the vicinity of Ab-Db-Gb-Bb. And I got that envelope filter out again.
