I have a 07 450xcf that is carb and have tuned to run with low end power delivery in slow narly single track. So much fun..... Soft progressive rate rear spring 13-52 gears.... If you set up the 450 right contrary to what many say is awesome tight single track👍 Test drove some new ones didn't like em.... Couldn't really tune em.... But now see that it can be done effectively.... Thanks👍

Ya, the gearing helps in the slow but I’m doing a 1600 mile Baja Trip in October so I can afford to gear down. Some days are slow Rocky stuff, others are 80 MPH highway for 40 miles. Going to try and make it hit all the marks The carb bikes were so much easier :)

Nice video. I always like it when someone else tests the expensive bits. I found perhaps a much more economical fix. These KTM/Husky/GasGas 450's have had a flameout issue for many years. Usually a Rekluse fixes it. Rekluses transforms these bikes big time as far as rideablity goes IMO. I have owned several KTM 450 XCF's over the years. Purchased a GasGas MC450F with a Rekluse which did not fix the issue. It would still flameout at the strangest moments. I knew that GG's come with fairly restrictive air boxes compared to its KTM cousin and as you have stated they seem to not run that well off idle. I did a test by removing the air box cover and tried to get it to flameout similar to what you were doing in this video. Could not get it to flameout. Put the stock air box cover on and within 30 seconds I was able to get it to flame out. Instead of drilling holes in the stock cover I ordered KTM Part # 79106903000AB which is the vented cover that comes with the newer KTM's. Fits perfect. Went out on an extended ride and could not get it to flameout and it generally just ran better off idle. Put the stock cover on to wash the bike and as I was riding to my truck, yup you guessed it, had one flameout. Anyway my 2 cents. Keep up the good work!

Sorry for the late reply. I will not run a bike with an auto clutch on it. I hate the lack of feel and the ability to have the bike hold itself when in a bad situation. It also breeds bad habits of not covering the clutch while riding as 99.9% kf auto clutch riders do not use the clutch anymore A ECU is the correct way to fix a flame out. It does more than just fix a flame out. It makes the bike run better all around and makes more power as well I appreciate your input but don’t agree on the auto clutch recommendation

@@moonzy11 2021 also. I took the quiet core out of the akrapovic exhaust and just have the spark arrestor screen in. Definitely flaming out less. Better flow, leaner, who knows? lol And really not much louder. Next up is getting the front suspension dialed in. Pretty harsh in the bony single track and deflects quite a bit. Which surprised me a bit with the KYB fork.

I am guessing gas gas still doesn't have tuner app in 21? I have a yz450fx and I trail ride, I have found low ide and retarded timing really help cause flame out. I came from a yz250f and really needed to tune my new yz450fx bike down until I got more comfortable. I tried taming it with the tuner app and that did help but the yz450fx just wanted to rip my arms off in the slow stuff and just take off with the insane torque. The #1 most helpful and worth every penny was to get a g2 throttle tamer. 100% completely changed the bike. Completely tamed the first half of the throttle, and made ide way more controllable. The best part it is only 80 bucks, which is nothing in the world of dirtbike parts. I got the bike I did because I am on open fast flow trails (old access mine and oil roads) most of the time, and on the public roads a lot between trails, and planning to go to California this year and they are going after 2t and not giving permits. Now I have a bike that is controllable and with tons of torque on demand down low to haul my 220lbs up hills.

I love a rekluse and think they make great clutch components But no way I would run an auto clutch. They are dangerous in technical situations and take control away from the rider
@EverySingleSunday3 жыл бұрын
Also, while an auto clutch may keep it from stalling it doesn’t help with the mapping at all. They still run like crap down low from the factory
@UnEmmerdeur3 жыл бұрын
@@EverySingleSunday With a properly setup Rekluse you shouldn't even know its there until you need it. Works like a normal clutch except it won't stall when you mess up. If it is taking control away from a rider it is not setup properly.

Do you think this mod will bring a 4s 350 or 450 to response level close to a 2s like a 300 for McCains, etc? My KX450 is horrid on on tight rocky trails, but wonder about getting a 300EX that would not be good for tracks also

The 300 2T is like a diesel and is the best for rocks and tech. I think a KX with a heavier flywheel/ clutch weight and some proper tuning clubs be very good. But not as good as a 300 built specifically for that That being said, the 4T bikes are definitely better at the track
