God I have a friend who has a blown head gasket on a car worth around $1000 and he refuses to fix it and wants to get a new WRX. I offered to even help him for free and he still refused. I’d say my biggest regret with my car is cutting corners, I don’t recommend it for anyone especially when working on your own vehicle. The job may be simple but it has to be done by the steps for a reason as everything relies on each other in order for your vehicle to function properly.

I remember the day you posted a video about your 40 dollar sticker on your car. All about that Americana. ;) It certainly shows quite a bit for how much you've changed in the past 3 years. If I had a big regret, it was not doing more research on what car I was buying. I had no idea about trims or what the differences are between V6 and V8. I only cared about the look of the car really, and the yellow with the black burnout strips on the sides drew me in. Luckily I hear the V6 dodge challengers are made to last for quite some time. Over 3 years of driving my car and 40,000 miles later, I've had no mechanical issues whatsoever. So I really lucked out on my choice for my first car.

@ElysiumsJourney
@ElysiumsJourney 2 жыл бұрын
Good! Stick with that mentality. What matters is you enjoy it, not other's opinions of what you like. I bet the 4cyl handles better than the v8 version (assuming same features) and still has plenty of performance. I had the v8 version ('16), and it would make me car sick. Did not like it for that reason, but it was a great car!

I use to own a crappy 3rd gen 86 Camaro IROC. I loved that car more than I hated it. I loved it where I didn't hate it but was disappointed in its issues. It wouldn't always start. It didn't have AC. It had an electric fan for the radiator, which didn't work. Driving it had to be short because that thing had to drive on the freeway to get cool or drive relatively fast. The drivers door had a wobbly window and loose mirror. There was no muffler. The car had drag radial street tires. But driving it was enjoyable despite the stiff suspension. The sound of the engine was pleasing. I had to sell it because we had flooding that made leaving home a risk. I bought a 99 F150 with the 5.4L. It was nice to finally have a truck for when flooding happens and if there's snow. I have a 15 Mazda3 and it's my daily but on weekend I drive my truck. The only expensive thing I spent on my truck was the AC getting fixed. I bought a tool chest and a replacement foam seat. I need to get seat covers though.

Having a normal car to daily drive, and then your "fun" vehicle for the weekend or the occasional drive is the way to go. I used to daily my motorcycle, but I wore full gear so it would take me like 10 minutes to get ready to go anywhere, and then I would always worry about someone stealing my bike while I was at work. Getting a comfortable car that's good on gas, and if you can afford it, has advanced cruise control for traffic? That's the big brain move.

The thing I get irritated the most is when there is a post or forum entry of someone asking "how can I get 1,2,3,x more HP out of my small engine car" or "how can I make my budget car sportier and good sounding" and the answer of all the people is always to "buy a bigger car hur dur" and that "you should have thought of that before". This disgusting behavior led me to never ask such questions myself, as it would just be pointless. This sucks and seems to be a problem for car people. Cause when I see a forum on 50cc or 125 cc bikes they do give genuine advice.

for about 10 years my one and only car i owned was an e46 m3. it's been an absolute joy, but also bladed is right. there does come a point where it feels less special and the constant maintenance really starts to take a toll (150k-1750k miles was a NIGHTMARE. just flushing money down the toilet). however..... for me it's also "swung back" to the point where i've put so many miles on it (up to 195k) and i've made the car "perfect" to MY OWN standards and i fell in love with it all over again and now it's a life long commitment. i really do appreciate every moment of it now, highs and lows.

As much as I loved dailying a '21 Mustang, the constant attention sucked and it was vandalized twice. There's such a stigma around them now, that it doesn't matter if you're a safe and respectful driver. People just love to hate, and I got sick of not being left alone to just enjoy my car. There was always a comment or criticism. As I said above too, after it was vandalized twice, I decided that I needed to let it go before I lost any more value or sanity. The thing I most enjoy is that its so easy making friends with other (non-toxic) car people, its like a whole nother world and I love it. As a motorcyclist I completely agree with you about car culture. It’s probably one of the most toxic hobbies I’ve seen. It should be about the shared love in 4 wheel vehicles but it’s so cliquey and gate keepy.

My biggest regret is I am the noob. I’m not old enough to have enough experience in finding stuff for my car. And having the issue that stuff I find isn’t made anymore because apparently my car is not a super easy find. So my regret is being young. But your videos do help me a lot.

Ik this sounds weird as fuck, but you’re like a big brother when it comes to car enthusiasm. Like I got an E36 like a month ago and now I’m aware that some of the things my 13 year old self would have done would have been so cringe looking back and I partially know that because of you and honestly dawg I thank you. Love your vids dawg

Some of the best fun in the summer is giving ppl the thumbs up in traffic and complimenting their ride while your next to them. Even if they have a monster machine compared to you their face just lights up. Same thing with the motorcycle folks, they are the MOST fun to pull up next to. riders will absolutely chill with you and cruise with you. They will chat a little at every stop if there's time :D. Love the motorcycle folks

I get what you mean about dailying your car guy car. I daily drive a Honda Beat out of necessity and I can confirm it is not fun. I'm constantly having to import parts in advance that way so when stuff breaks on it I always have it on hand not to mention mechanic shops refuse to work on it where I live so I have to do all my own maintenance in my garage. Tie this to the fact that it's my only car and suddenly everything has to be fixed within a certain time limit so I can show up to my day job. Luckily I recently got a cappuccino to help split the maintenance but I'm actually looking at selling it and getting a kei truck instead to use as a daily.

My biggest regret so far has been buying a car new and being so scared to drive it that I never did anything really fun with it because I didn’t want to mess up the paint. Anything I did that was fun always had a lens of “oh this is probably damaging this and that” so I was never as happy as I should’ve been

Biggest thing I've done that was stupid, was working on something that time has forgotten. I own a Triumph TR3A from 1960 (Yes, same company that still make motorcycles) and even just looking at parts shakes me too my core as just things like gauge cluster replicas run up 1-2 grand. Along with that there's normally a reason time forgot them like in my case weak frames and the flywheel wanting to kill you. (On another note mine doesn't have overdrive and as such has a different transmission and it is impossible to find them thanks to those transmissions being made for 2 days.)
@CorollaChronicles
@CorollaChronicles 6 ай бұрын
My biggest regret was assuming I knew what I was hearing when I got rid of my old car for a "transmission whine". It wasn't transmission whine. It was either the alternator, water pump, or power steering pump. Transmission whine typically is speed-linked. My issue was RPM-linked.

I do actually get a lot of very nice compliments about my car but I reckon it’s because I’m literally the only Volvo enthusiast to go to car meets around town. I have made some stupid decisions with my car but for the most part I’ve found sticking to myself and just enjoying the car is the best way to do it. No one else gets it and that’s just fine with me.

I daily drive an 89 Iroc and I'm so fed up with it. Can't go 2 weeks without something going wrong. I love my shitbox and have even swapped it from auto to t56 and it's more fuel efficient and more fun to drive. Though I'm too paranoid about it getting hit or if it'll start everyday and it's just not worth the stress. Buy a daily shitbox and drive it to work and back, if you wanna go out and get something to eat or it's a day off, drive the cool car - don't rely on it as your main and only form of transport.

I'm now putting in a 416ci LS3 in, and hopefully will be in by this Summer. No way in hell will I daily that again, lmao. Then I bought another similar car for my daily ('95 Z28) as I built mine back up and that became a project. Wonderful. I'm actually at the point where I'm selling the Z28 and looking to just buy a new reliable daily.

I love the way you think I know way too much about cars and have been around cars since 4 or 5 yo But never owned a sports car and never modded any of my cars because i know it is waste of money People around me with 500 to 800 hp cars always complaining about having to buy parts or rebuilding stuff and having no money , no house of their own and way too much debt made me realize that. I just want to own a house a Z06 or Gt3 (not both) someday be debt free and live a happy life.

But ofc if i had a econo car (Dacia Sandero eg), i'd daily it instead of the Lancer for sure, i just don't have the option to do so xD At least the Lancer is a pretty usable daily, just not very fuel efficient.

7:40 as someone who does wine tastings, yea some people can be pretty pretentious but I'm just there to drink some wine and say "damn this shit good" and thankfully there are more people with my attitude now too. pro tip champagne and mac-n-cheese is a fire combo along with Riesling and hot wings. (don't drink and drive, nap off the wine in the back seat before you try and go anywhere)

My biggest regrets are 1. Assuming that everyone with a sports car is about THAT LIFE a lot people are in for the looks not racing. 2. Complimenting peoples cars , because their response to me feels like (“eh thanks, why is this guy bothering and saying my car looks cool ,leave me alone”) they act like they I’m the 1000th person to say they have a nice car and their sick and tired of it or something. 3. Getting excited when the exact same car pulls up next to me or when another sports car pull up next me and nothing happens. 4. Getting excited when I see the exact same car next to me or we both heading the same direction and nothing happens you’d think there be like some type of brotherhood when you see someone with the exact same car you got and both are modded you’d think y’all say what’s up to each other or something but NOPE bro could care less if y’all got the same car. 😢 5. Assuming people know how to properly race , like why is hard for someone to LINE IT UP, HONK 3 TIMES then go ? And they don’t even say good race or anything by flashing the hazards or throwing up the peace ✌️ out the window …. No proper communication So because of this I mind my own business , I don’t complement peoples cars , I don’t race anybody no more , I don’t get excited if I see the exact same car next to me or anybody sports car

I’ve had largely good experiences with other car guys, most recently an amazing race with a corvette C4 vs my E36 M3 vert. Dead even to 100+. I’m still smiling about it. The ole boomer said he was out testing his newly rebuilt trans and was all smiles and thumbs up afterwards. Another time an E36 325i vert merged on the highway behind me and we had miles of fun comparing the two. Again it was another boomer, gave approving head nods and the respect was there. The old timers seem to have more experience in how to race… not sure why, but has been my experience so far. And, perhaps it’s your area? I live more rural so another cool car/car guy is more rare and appreciated. Like the local car meet has 40 cars max lol. So, I wouldn’t give up hope entirely :)
