This is very helpful indeed, I started watercolour only this past year in the hope of drawing plants and trees etc…this is the best tutorial I have seen that shows the true definition of the individual branches❤

This is perfect! I'll attempt making Christmas cards now :) White pine have 5 needles per cluster or fascicles (tip, white has 5 letters) compared to 2 needles per cluster on red pines (and also Jack pine and Scott's pine). Yellow pine species have clusters of 3 needles. :) although, unless you're doing botanical paintings for educational purposes it probably doesn't matter too much!

Thanks for sharing! Pines are just so fun to paint :)

As a beginner it helps to know what # brush you are using. For detail work what do you tend to use? This is an excellent tutorial!
@JuliaLisArt2 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! I use a 0000 brush for super fine details and a size 1 for details that require longer strokes.

Really useful videos. Thank you very much. I thought you said you were left handed in the video...... have you reversed the image? You look right handed. As a fellow left hander I'd be really pleased to see someone painting left handed - just for a change!
@JuliaLisArt Жыл бұрын
No Im right handed - I don't always think about what I'm saying when I'm painting lol

The pines have nettles and scales on the branches.

It's nearly impossible to see your pencil strokes. A fine-tipped marker would have been the better choice. Great demo, otherwise.
