I just found you and I am eating up your videos and knowledge! Newbie to watercolor and this one ranks in my top 5 of how it worked out for me. I think it was the addition of the red building. So awesome! My husband came home yesterday and saw a few of my tutorials and was really impressed by the lake one with black trees on one bank (close) and smaller ones on the other bank. Your tutorials move at a perfect clip for me. I’m not painting them that fast, but you give just the right amount of information to get me to paint for inferences without belaboring details. Which is funny because most beginner videos don’t provide enough information for my success. You hit my sweet spot. Also, I have to shout out my love for your subject matter. As a Utah girl, I want to paint my mountains, my trees, my barns, etc. Thank you for giving me the tools. I’ve sent links to my daughter who is also a watercolor hobbyist so you now have 2 new groupies. How do you get your colors so vibrant? Is it the paint quality? I’m just working out of student grade paints but I’m often befuddled by the lack of green variance that I can achieve with vibrancy. I’m a fan girl.
@JuliaLisArt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words, I'm so glad my tutorials are helpful to you. I use meedan watercolor paints - I'm not sure what to say about vibrancy though - perhaps you just need more pigment and less water?

Thank you for such a great tutorial. I am learning a lot from your methods. I really appreciate watching your paintings evolve as you go along. I live in the woods of Maine and am surrounded by evergreen trees. The trees you are painting look like fir trees. It is a small detail but pine trees look quite different from fir trees such as spruce and balsalm. Thank you again for the gift of teaching. ..

Do you stretch your paper first? If so, how? I used to use the gummed tape on board method, but lately, I've just been taping it to a board when I work. The buckling bothers me. I end up ironing it on the backside with a warm iron.
