1. Don’t waste their time trying to make money with their music 2. Get a REAL JOB that is in demand and pays real money 3. Understand that no one gives a sh*t that you are passionate about your music 4. Understand that while you are wasting your valuable youth trying to “make it” in music, there are others out there busy investing in the stock market and real estate. In 20 years, chances are they will be retired with millions in the bank, while you are still struggling just to pay rent still trying to “make it”.

I disagree on the goals. I think if your goal is to "go viral" you're setting yourself up for disappointment and setting up boxes around your creativity because your song needs to be viral. Therapists usually advise SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound). I think for a small to medium sized artist, a SMART goal could be to write a song a day, and pick one a week to record and produce. I've written a video on this and this reminded me to film and upload it.
