I see absolutely zero incentive to pay by hour. One thing that really has me angry, is how I've been demoted from platinum to gold. If I have to schedule time to dash, I might as well get a side job. Rather then support Doordash. Just my opinion.
@untoldtales83006 ай бұрын
Earn by time is so odd to me. You would think that it would be best for long distance orders, since they take the most time, but nearly half of that time is the return trip, which you don't get paid for. So ironically, it's most worth it for short distance orders (or orders that have a high likelihood of a return order, but those are pretty rare in my experience). It's just not worth it in my opinion, at least how it works currently.

The limiting factors on short runs for time efficiency are really restaurant wait times, finding the customer, and minor delays like parking or walking to and from the restaurant. It makes total sense that driving 10-15 minutes back for free wouldn't be efficient.

Wait at the restaurant minus the drop time, if the customer is 15 minutes away from the restaurant wait 45minutes before dropping it, I use Siri tell her setup a timer as I receive & accept order for 1h, another timer to the customer, make sure you fully arrive at the restaurant, DoorDash can report you violation late arrival, if you don’t show up at that location accordingly.

You do get peak pay with EBT, and DD assumes you can do two orders per hour. So they basically just double the peak pay and add that to your EBT pay rate. I had a $5 peak pay for a few hours a couple weeks back and got $16/active hour...and five orders.

@@alajonononThat's actually where EBT shines. If there is a particular day/time in your market where you can use it to your advantage, then do so. In my market, 11:30 PM to about 1 or 2 AM tends to get peak pay. As the only things open at that time are fast food places with long drive through waits, it's a pretty simple way to make stupidly easy money, especially if peak pay is pushing things into the $17-$20 an hour range.

Hey Bentley Don't know how much if at all you communicate with DD but I have a beef. I am not asking for money but I asking that they start to recognize Dashers when they do something special or unique. I recently hit 25000 deliveries and DD over a week out has not done anything to acknowledge that. I do this for my own reasons but hey come on they should at least acknowledge drivers even if its only with a ATABOY email. The last time I remember getting congratulated for anything was 2K deliveries. Just think they could do simple things that would boost the moral of dirvers. IE if you get back to 5.O it should be acknowledged. These things aren't why I dash but I like to get these type of things also. Thanks Mike Robb

So is there any way I can avoid that? And how do I find out ahead of time if someone lives in a three story building? Or can I call DoorDash and ask them not to send me orders in three-story buildings without an elevator?

@simplytee1233 ай бұрын
@@VictoriaReadsReddit DoorDash considers its delivery drivers, or “Dashers”, to be independent contractors, not employees. This means that Dashers are self-employed and provide services to DoorDash as their OWN business, rather than working for an employer and receiving a paycheck. Therefore, @texasgina could make her OWN accommodations, including, avoiding three or more flights of stairs. 😉 Dismissing someone simply because they need accommodations can come across as insensitive. Many independent contractors with disabilities can perform their duties effectively with some adjustments. Instead of focusing on limitations, we should encourage a more inclusive approach where everyone can contribute and succeed. Let’s promote understanding and support for all workers, including those with disabilities, rather than pushing them aside. 😇🤗

Hey there @texasgina! Sorry to hear about your health challenges. It’s great that you’re a top dasher with a five-star rating! Here are a few suggestions that might help: 1. Communicate with Support: Contact DoorDash support and explain your situation. They may be able to flag your account with a note about your preference to avoid deliveries to high floors without elevators. 2. Pre-Delivery Communication: Once you receive an order, you can message the customer to ask if there’s an elevator or if their unit is on a high floor. Most customers will understand if you explain your situation. 3. Decline Orders: If you arrive at a location and find it has multiple flights of stairs, you can inform the customer and DoorDash support. They may reassign the order without penalizing you, given your health condition. 4. Strategize Your Shifts: Focus on delivering in areas with more single-story homes or buildings with elevators. This might require some trial and error to find the best zones. 5. Look for Visual Cues: Sometimes, the map and address details in the app can give you a hint if the delivery is in a complex with multiple floors. You could try to become familiar with the buildings in your delivery area. I hope these tips help, and take care of your health! 😊
@simplytee1233 ай бұрын
BY THE WAY If the apartment/condo complex have multiple buildings with multiple floors then: Unit 2316 often means Building 23, Unit 16 (1st Floor) or Building 2, Unit 316 (3rd floor) The first number of an apt/condo usually indicates the floor level of the building. For example: Unit 16 is located on the first floor. Unit 316 is located on the third floor. Unit 1316 often means either 3rd floor or 13th floor, depending on the number of floors in the building. Good luck with everything! ☺️

Let's be real, the video is mostly fluff without much substance. The so-called "4 things to avoid" are just common sense aspects of DoorDash's Earn by Time feature. It boils down to this: you get paid for active delivery time, not idle time between orders. Declining more than one order per hour kicks you out of Earn by Time. Priority access and large orders don't exist in this mode. And finally, the pay rate varies by time and location, sometimes including peak pay. The video doesn't expose the real downsides of Earn by Time, like potentially lower overall earnings compared to the traditional pay-per-order model or the lack of control over which orders you accept. So, before jumping into Earn by Time, do your research and consider if it's truly the best fit for your earning goals.
