This is beyond true, I did it twice in its pre nerf state, and the group took over an hour to clear with multiple wipes due to people getting rng one shot. Tbc heroics on launch weren't fun because unlike retail M+ the difficulty didn't match the reward at all.

I agree on the dungeons, I loved getting my ass handed to me while tanking BF and having to CC or MC those Orcs just to live. It gave a unique spin on it instead of just blasting through it. Would love Mythic style Wrath dungeons or something to that extent instead of the "AOE it down no one do any mechanics" that it will be. It is the one thing retail did right in terms of fun consistent challenging content.

It's interesting how one of the reasons cata heroics were considered "hard" back when they released was because the entire playerbase had become so unbelievably braindead by the end of wrath because of how easy AOEing through heroics had become.

Indeed. If i remember they quickly nerfed some parts of Heroics in Cata because of all the wrath babies crying. Back at TBC vanilla, some heroic mechanics felt straight broken, and some depended on luck with no player skill involvement. When I tanked my first heroics, I wasn't sure I would ever do the same a second time.

- too many welfare epics - no challenging content until phase 2 (potential early burnout) - doing challenging things with other players, are some of the most memorable moments - loot scarcity is less (flexing on others feels good) - guilds will have more potential bad players - world preparation and events are very little - more scammers (this one surprised me) - since wotlk had a lot of changes, a final state may get worse for some classes

As a prot warrior, I am definitely not going to miss TBC heroics. Everything in dungeons were just massively overtuned, artificially difficult with atrociously garbage mechanics like stacking up 4 attacks and one shotting the tank with them, and especially warrior tanks were just the dungeon handicapped tank that couldn't do anything and needed to be hard carried by CC. I'd rather physically torture myself in real life than run through TBC heroics ever again.
@space.raider.22712 жыл бұрын
From a healer's perspective I agree completely. The one word I keep landing on to describe TBC dungeon mobs is "cheap". Sure you can make 5-man content harder to handle by making 9 out of 10 fears undispellable, it's just a really cheap way of doing it.
@frankspike40622 жыл бұрын
Between this, and AoE everything down in Wrath, i believe there would be a fun compromise to make. In TBC if they would have made something like Thunderclap do more threat and no limit on targets, it would have been ok. That or make CC and kill order, interrupts a necessity for all group even with a pally tank.

While it was definitely true for some dungeons, it really wasn't for others. Yes, the mobs hit hard, but that was kind of the point. You were suppose to have to CC in the begining, otherwise, the content becomes irrelevant extremely quick. You weren't suppose to go into heroics with leveling gear, but rather from high-level dungeon gear. Take Mechanar HC as an example: If you did mechanics properly, the fights weren't even that hard. I remember that dungeon was only difficult if people didn't know what to do. I also like that they added an additional mechanic to one of the bosses (Static charge from Thaddius). With T4 gear, heroics were mostly possible without any CC as well, while still being challenging if someone went in no-brain. Anything after T4 made stuff a cake walk (except for BF HC. That place was cursed).

I would hard argue against heroics, while yes memorable, blood furnace was AWFUL if you needed anything outta there, no one wanted to do it because the amount of time and effort it took was not worth it in the slightest. Why would i torture myself into heroic BF when I can get something better from Kara and it's 10x easier
@Zatar2 жыл бұрын
Prot warriors have a trinket that is bis hit trinket the whole game from there. It is definitely difficult, but early on it was worth it for some of the pre-raid stuff too.

Eh outside that one item for that one spec, most every other class had something comparable or better from a different dungeon, also Kara (which was again, easier). I'm not gunna argue that it wasn't memorable, but it's because of insane overtuneing and bad design (random, unavoidable 1 shots is not a good game design)

@@Zatar I think the same, however I'm kinda worried about the elitist mind of some current TBC Classic players. I'm worried about being gatekeeped from 25 man pugs/gdkps, because 10 mans are prob not gonna have logs (something I think should change, wcl should do a 10 man raids ranking). Also issues with gearscore being lower due to ilvl. Haven't seem much people talking about this, and I know a lot o people that used to play 10 man only on OG Wrath.

In my opinion Halls of Lightning can easily contend with TBC dungeons in terms of difficulty, certainly in terms of length. I also see it as a great thing that gearing is much easier in Wrath. Not that I actively wish for a trivial gearing process, but it's vastly preferable to the GDKP situation.

Tbh I think TBC heroics are kinda awful aswell. The mechanics are all the same but it feels like the damage was just increased BY A LOT. I remember the first pull of sethekk halls. That thunder clap used to hurt a lot. I feel like the only difference are on the numbers, but thats just an personal opinion
@sfzrxgaming98752 жыл бұрын
@@alvinsoares Sometimes raw numbers really result in direct difficulty increase and incentivize people to use tools they normally don't, like kiting, sheeping etc, although in the case of sethekk hall first pull that's really just a test of positioning and healing, ranged shouldn't get clapped and the mobs could be stunned iirc. If the damage is too low, like in the case of wrath, it just results in paladin rush in and aoe tank everything without breaking a sweat. I'm a big fan of tbc heroics so I think our opinions will differ in this regard, if you hate tbc heroics I doubt you'll like cataclysm heroics either.

@@alvinsoares Mechanar HC was a good example. Bosses got an additional mechanic. Think that was true for most dungeons, but some of them were so bland that people didn't even notice them (like, enrage, woooooo). I totally agree with you though. More mechanics on HC would be better, but tbh, the expansion had a lot of bosses that really didn't have that many mechanics (Curator, the Satyr in Kara, Voidreaver, Almost all MH bosses, Naj, Shade, Teron and Mother). Sure they have mechanics, but most weren't neither hard not any complicated/important for the fight.
