One thing I forgot to mention, strength gives block value at a much better rate now. 0.5 block value per point. Most items will have strength anyway, but this is part of the reason strength is much better in wrath.

Thanks for the video. I have played a Prot Warrior since Classic and I was getting a little burnt out. I planned on changing my main to a Blood DK, but after playing the beta and watching your vids, I've decided to keep my Prot Warrior as my main. Keep up the good content!

Hi man. First of all, thanks for great content, subscribed. You give answers exactly on questions im looking for, and cannot find it so straight and detailed elsewhere. Can you make more detailed video about dungeons / heroics / aoe questing on prot war? Build options, stats prio etc. Because phase 1 is 90% about it, we have just 1 big raid dungeon. Rest time people will be grinding.

I was looking for some clearance when it comes to hit especially, since all the gear guides say hit cap first prio. Now when i got my pre raid bis for tanking in naxx i realise how much tankynes i Will have to skip in order to get hit capped. Feels good to hear some honest opinions about this. For me it is mandatory to survive before being able to do maximum threat

I’m just starting to learn my Prot Warrior n I’m just LV 20 I notice I’m having a hard time holding aggro on mobs. I do Heroic Strike n Thunderclap but my rage goes down so fast. What is the first thing I need to do to hold aggro?

I learned to make a tab-skill-hit tab-skill-hit. When you fight multiple mobs. You'll need to hit 1 skill and then press tab to go to the next mob and cast another skill. If you do it correctly most of the mobs gonna still facing you more than of you focus just 1 and sometimes vast thunderclap. Another thing is you have intervention wich its hard to use but if you do it when you lose threath against one group mate you can receive the next hit he'd receive and prevents for harm. Another thing you can do is asking your teammates for just hit the mob you are hitting in every fight. When grow in lvl you'll have more skills to hold the treath like mocking blow, heroic throw etc.

Hey, I was curious what your thoughts were on Prot Warriors in a second/off-tank role. Between talents and glyphs it feels as though they were designed to shift into supporting the main tank and adding damage for the raid. Do you think there is a threshold once progression is completed where guilds will want a tank that buffs raid damage more than a tank that's focused on survivability?

I don’t think many average guilds will want to swap back and forth between tanks. Gearing becomes hard to manage as well. Warriors struggle as off tanks if they ever need to build threat, because they generate no rage unless they are getting hit. The same applies to tanking on trash, if another tank is going in first you are kinda useless. Warriors off spec is also not a super in demand option early. All in all I think it’s best to main tank as warrior, and while they are squishy, they are viable and fine to play.

There are many reasons why Warriors are pretty strong once your guild is on farm. It’s not all negatives, Warriors have some benefits as well.

whats the conversion of resilience to defense? I wish your defense stat would auto adjust to incorporate how much resil you have

540 defense is crit immune. Each point of defense SKILL is .04% crit immunity. 1 point of resil gives .01% crit immunity. Each point of defense RATING giving roughly .008% crit immunity (need increments of ~ 4.9 defense rating to get 1 defense skill).

2% increased avoidance with racial is not bad. In pve racials are much more cosmetic.

Strength is for doing more damage, agi is for being tanky against raid bosses

@@Zatar would like to here your perspective on blood tank vs frost tank. Personally I feel like with frost you get more baseline defensive stats, especially with 2 tank weps but also due to frost talents that increase defenses. I don't wanna push progression and be in situations where a boss hits me for 150% of my hp so that I NEED to take the ardent defender, second life talent. Outside of that scenario, feels like frost will take less dmg overall, while blood could heal much more. Also, from memory, frost had better threat but I could be wrong. Or maybe a hybrid blood frost spec. Again, would definitely wanna hear your perspective and see what the numbers say.

Blood always for single target boss tanking. Frost for dungeons / trash. Basically frost has really nice AOE threat, But otherwise blood is gonna be more survivability on a boss.

Feral bear is very easy. I would get bored with it as my main. Blood DK has more interesting decisions. I also am not a big fan of not seeing your armor in bear form.

You say in dungeons / aoe farm you need less mitigation and can add more strength. But in your video you farm utgarde keep with revenge build, even in group setup you're using full avoidance gear and gemming everything for defense rating. Did you change your mind or?

Revenge spec is more of a solo build, and gears differently than normal prot warrior. you can still use it in a group, but it ouputs less threat and usually your group would be better off with you playing shockwave. So to answer your question, I typically would not play revenge spec in normal dungeon group play.

If you have a healer you want avoidance + strength + crit. With no healer you want avoidance and shield block

Yeah, you just might want to make sure you have enough avoidance from other items, because the pvp gear has none.
