@@Latayshaann lol. I cannot tell you how many times I've said, "what was the name of that business?" when I'm searching on IG. Social media isn't replacing grassroots marketing. I actually find social media to be somewhat impersonal and folks respond to you just to clear the notifications. I'm learning to be like, "hey give me a call!"

Business cards used to be the move. Shout out to Vistaprint. But yeah. Instagram, LinkedIn, even Facebook is much better now. Or get a direct phone number. Major key for me has been just sharing my contact card with them if we are in the same room. For the theme songs, I hate TV shows with long theme songs. I don't need a 2 minute song taking away from the show. LOL. Great points and tips as always!

I just had a conversation with someone and I was questioning the relevancy and power of a business card. I updated and purchased a minimum amount (literallty yesterday) but I too feel like they are becoming a dated tool. On the other hand someone asked me this week "Do you have a business card?" I believe it just depends on what age group is asking. Social media definitely is the alternative.

Love your videos but honestly totally disagree with business cards. You're right, its 2019, so your business cards should include all your socials! I've gained quite a few subscribers while handing out business cards as I vlog in public. People always see my DSLR and ask "Are you a photographer?" I usually say "No, I make KZbin videos" and just hand them a card. People are incredibly intrigued by the word KZbinr. They want to know what you do, how you make money, etc. It much easier to hand someone older a card than try and explain the entire internet. Business cards definitely still have their place!

Since it’s for your KZbin do you have a picture of yourself on the card? Or just your KZbin nAme and social media?

In Japan, business cards are extremelyyy essential. Not everyone dabbles with technology like social media. some prefer personal meetups or calls. My clients are mostly boomers that's why business cards are still extremely effective.

In the US you may get away with not using a business card...but in the international sector, you definitely need a business card. My card has just our brand's color and logo (foiled). It's very eye-catching, and mostly every customer Yong and old grabs a card up.

Social media is the new business card! I've noticed that even when I'm at events Erin! They have their place at different events but social media is definitely it. Love how you educate us Erin! That red lip makes me want to go to Sephora and finding me my Red! Your brand is who you are!!!

Always serving us with realness. One thing I noticed about the business card thing is that it's mainly a older crowd who will ask me for a card. I honestly use to fill so bad when I didn't have a card on me but the main reason I would often leave them behind is because like you said, people lose paper. Another thing I recently stepped away from was the "theme" thing. If people like you, they will like your content regardless. Great tips and cute look! The red lip is always on point!

I disagree with the business cards and SOMEWHAT the brochure. I literally go to a business card faster than a person social media because suppose they don’t have that 🤔not only that; it usually has the email address on it as well. I went to an invite only event a couple weeks ago and I literally was giving out my business cards AND brochures(people were actually asking if I had anything to show)and people were happy to see exactly what I was promoting. THEN they asked if I was on social media because now they are looking for vid clips. Idk maybe it’s a generational thing 😂 but people are always receptive to my hard copies and it strikes up more conversation especially if you don’t really know a lot of people at the events. So I keep business cards and brochures in the car and my purses. Just my 2cents, Lol

💯 Thank you, this is all relevant Erin! With the nature of my business (in person transactions and vendor events), I handed out a lot of business cards this year with little to no conversion. Now I strictly do e-business cards via text, which also allows me to sign people up for text messaging.

I feel the same way regarding business cards. During networking events I am all about social media and cell exchange. In initimate settings I typically go ahead and email who I am, what I was wearing (red tie, brown shoes) and I also leave positive a compliment(nothing cheesy) for men or for women I leave a business stat.

hummm I don't know about not having a business card. For example, last week I had a banker come over to my airbnb as a prospect investor and when he asked me for my business card I had to lie and tell him that they were coming in the mail. Granted he was from the old school of exchanging information so I definitely think its a good idea to have a handful on your person just so that if you do run into people who still exchange info via paper you will have something for them. All that said, loved the other 3 advice ideas!

On the business cards and printed material, from my experience, what I've learned is, it depends on your audience, industry, and event type. For me, in the Education space, especially when dealing with schools and younger students, they need printed material to share with their parents. I've also noticed with my 35+ potential clients, the first thing they ask for in person is a business card (maybe it's because that's what they are used to). When I'm at networking events or just out and about and have the opportunity to talk about my business I always get asked "Do you have a business card?". So i agree you don't need to invest a whole ton in cards and printed material, but you do need to know your audience, your industry expectations, and when it's best to use those items so you're prepared. Not to mention as your company/brand grows, so will your material. So spending a lot upfront just to have it, is not necessary either.
