The point about not restarting when you make a mistake is true. Just take a deep breath and start that section again, but as a slightly better tip, instead of saying 321 clap your hands twice quickly. It is actually far easier for editing as it shows up much more clearly on the audio track (it makes two very visible spikes). It is difficult to remember to do it at first, but you soon get used to it. It saves loads of time with editing later.

@@AfiKoKo Yeah. I'm with you. Like 3 minutes of just catching up before getting into the real topic. I don't like it. I watch 1 hour videos if the beginning grabs me. Or I just skip to the main point if there's too much talking.

I actually watched one of your videos before I started my own channel. From that video I learned some tips on how to position myself in front of the camera and how important that you have a good lighting. In this video, a mistake that I want to fix is trying to redo my recording from the top every time i make mistakes. True to what you say, it is a waste of time. i love watching your videos. Thank you for this one. Kudos!

I’m going to start experimenting with different types of content that I enjoy making! I tried to really niche down to fashion videos but I’m going to experiment with some more lifestyle and vlog videos too!

You don’t understand how much #7 is so important for me to hear even right before 7 you said something that really resonated with me “being perfect is not fun”. This takes off so much pressure and not only this journey to KZbin but in life - thank you for this

My favorite part: “If they like you, they will subscribe - whether or not you ask.” This is so true! I sometimes watch other videos where there are so many calls to action - like, subscribe, share, comment, etc.....but the video hasn’t even started yet?? Concise is where it’s at. Thanks sis!

I don’t believe what she says, sometimes I tend to like and subscribe while watching a video of someone else because I may forget. But I guess that depends on how you feel.

thank you so much for saying that it's okay to experiment for the first several videos. there's too many so called "advice" videos about starting a channel that keep saying that you need to figure out your niche and your mission statement and your narrative and "what am i bringing to my audience" and i'm just like... how will i know that until i figure out what my audience wants and what really clicks with me? to me starting a youtube channel is no different than starting to wear makeup - you won't know which brands you like until you have others to compare them to but you can't compare something you know nothing about, YOU HAVE TO TRY IT.

Not doing KZbin (yet), but my partner and I are in the process of starting a small business and I have found myself getting too caught up in the brand strategy and trying to make the business too structured when I should just go with the flow, start and refine things later. This video was really helpful, thanks Erin!

You know, I've had friends say recently to me, "oh, I didn't know you can subscribe to a KZbin channel." They are millennials... yikes. So I personally choose to have a CTA to sub near the end of my videos (just in case;))

"If they like you, they will subscribe?" Even the biggest youtubers still ask for likes and comments so clearly reminding ppl to like and subscribe works. Terrible advice.
@luceritopreciado35814 жыл бұрын
It’s only a reminder so they don’t forget to subscribe or like. I’ve like youtubers for who they are and sometimes I’m not thinking about subscribing or liking because I’m into to video content. As soon as they mention it I do it because they remind me.

I started my channel 3 years ago and it wasn’t fun for me at the time bc I was too caught up on every little thing wrong or what I didn’t have. I’m starting over about 4months in and I’m having the time of my life bc I’m allowing myself to go with the flow. I don’t have even 500 subscribers yet but I see that as my time to really just be myself, play around, make and learn from mistakes. Thankyou for this video!

I love the idea of experimenting and not to niche down. We could be missing out on big trends because we think we can’t do them. We could always niche down later when we find what it is our viewers are looking for from us. Thank you! 🙌🏼

I was getting ready to create a 20 sec intro from my vlogs deciding against it after watching this. I’m still figuring out my channel and trying to get out of my head and post all the content that I’ve already filmed. Workouts, recipes, DIL, Wellness Tips, behind the hustle running my own fitness studio. I feel all over the place, but I’ll consider this the experimental phase.

Thank you Erin. This was valuable. The one mistake i'm making that I plan to fix ASAP is... repurposing old videos as my experimental phase of youtube. I need to press record and film more newer ideas and experiment with those instead. I know that wasn't in your list but that's the mistake I need to fix. Respect :)

I’m a brand new youtuber! My personality is so bubbly I’m happy I’m getting more comfortable on camera, I’ve never strived for perfection but I definitely need to go through the experimental phase and not overly “niche” things.
