Good one Roger , what you are saying is the gun must fit, and you must pattern it to make sure it does fit . Patterning a gun for fit is not the same as patterning it to check chokes and loads , although both can be done at the same time . Patterning for fit is to determine where the gun is shooting , left-right , high -low , even to see if it is canted , . Shooting 2 or 3 shots at a freshly painted steel plate from a safe distance will soon show where the gun is shooting , use tight chokes to get the best concentration of shot . I have seen a new o/u shotgun pattern each barrel in a different place , it turned out the top choke was in crooked , and the gun went back for replacement . Don't forget to take the tools needed to adjust the stock . My four essential elements for an O/U shotgun would be an adjustable stock ,a seriously good recoil pad , a mid bead and interchangeable chokes . Cheers Dunc

Morning Roger Another great video. Fitted a mid bead back in Dec but due to lockdown haven`t had a chance to try it yet. Also have a B-fast system ready to fit ,have all the templates made and ready to go however haven`t found the courage to cut the stock yet need a couple of glasses of that Aussie vino to get me going

Hi Roger, I don't necessarily agree that these are "essentials". More than anything you need a gun that suits your personal dimensions and especially the type of shooting you wish to do. I first purchased a 694 Beretta Sporter on the advice it was good for DTL. Bad advice dont listen to gun shops, they are not always your friend. With a lot of changes at the stock I am now considering its continuing ownership. I also now have an older Miroku Mk10 Gd5 Trap and it just fits like a glove. The stock is the right height, the right cast (using the mid-bead), the correct pitch (for DTL) and using a trap recoil pad it really fits well and improved my numbers no end. The LoP is a little short but I can fix that by making an alloy spacer, easy peasy. In Australia we dont generally have shooting schools (at least not here in Sydney) where a number of shotgun brands and types can be tried along side professional unbias advice like found in other countries. Gun shops are only interested in cash grab and there really is nowhere to get independent help and advice. Gun clubs all have a few hire models but a newbie wont know what fits and what doesn't.

David...no significance ...my son brought it back from Italy a while back...I am Italian but practically lived my whole life in Australia...came out here when I was 6 years old...I try to wear a variety of hats for each video...people tell me the more of my head that I hide the better...stay well and thanks for watching !!!

Hey Roger. Did Beretta fit the B-Fast system to your stock? Looking to do the same to my Silver Pigeon. Would you be willing to share how much it cost? Do they cut the original stock, or fit a new stock? Thanks for creating your content!

Kurt ...with the mid bead and the B-Fast system and freight it cost me 680 $ australian ..I should say that Beretta do not charge you freight if something goes wrong with their guns...My 690 was out of warranty but they fixed it free and no freight charges. good on you and definitely get an adjustable stock

Ciao Roger, Other than for proper fit, how can adjusting the comb change the poi since the mid bead ensures proper line-up? As you explained in one of your past videos. Love your channel!

Technically whichever way you move the comb is the same way the poi will go, raise it and poi raises etc. Mid and fore beads are for checking gun mount is consistent. You can raise/lower poi by mid bead location but once you have learned to mount the gun consistently you shouldn't be paying any attention to them while shooting other than knowing where they are. Thats why so many remove the beads altogether as can drag your eye to the barrel

Good question! moving the comb sideways left or right makes us move the gun left or right so that our head on the stock still lines up the two beads...I must revisit the video you are talking about...thanks and stay well !!!

Did you say you are In Australia? What about gun control? Also , are y’all able to buy ammo! Here in the States, anything pertaining to ammunition or reloading, it’s pretty much non existent! Great videos!

Gene... we can own a wide range of guns except autos and semi autos...ammunition is still readily available and so is reloading equipment...fewer people reload these days because its getting expensive...thanks and stay well !!!
