I like South African chicken, but that might be because I'm South African lol. Tbh though there is nothing uniquely South African about that dish. As for a name, maybe Sunday chicken, as a nod to the South African 'seven colours' Sunday meal.

Southwest or Fiesta Chicken. I think I would use the full 28 oz of tomatoes, all the tomato paste, more of all the spices & 3 cans worth of beans instead of 1. Would make it more filling, stretch it to more servings & lower the price per serving.

Agree with the dairy free and the southwest chicken! As for the dishes she showed in this video. A lot of the milk was used for the fat so subbing in coconut milk could be a good swap. For cheese, that’s harder but nutritional yeast could be an okay swap. Using a nice broth would also help to round out flavor as well.

Direct quote from my 10 year old picky eater: “This taste like a rich person’s soup. Like it should be in a fancy restaurant that you pay $20 or something.” 🤣☠️ My 18 month old also ate a large portion. For the Crockpot Shredded Chicken, my sister and I have made that for years sans the cheese. We have always called it Fiesta Chicken. We make it in the oven, crockpot, or instant pot.

My crockpot came from Goodwill several years ago and works perfectly. It doesn't have any bells and whistles either and I love it just the way it is. I like foods slow cooked like that because it gives food time to develop their full flavors. Yum!
