I like South African chicken, but that might be because I'm South African lol. Tbh though there is nothing uniquely South African about that dish. As for a name, maybe Sunday chicken, as a nod to the South African 'seven colours' Sunday meal.

To church it up I also added Italian seasoning and 2 bay leaves during the cooking process along with about a cup of shredded parm at the end. Direct quote from my 10 year old picky eater: “This taste like a rich person’s soup. Like it should be in a fancy restaurant that you pay $20 or something.” 🤣☠️ My 18 month old also ate a large portion. Great recipe and apparently I’m going to have to make it for my son’s next birthday dinner… which is 8 months away. 🤷🏼♀️ 😂

Southwest or Fiesta Chicken. I think I would use the full 28 oz of tomatoes, all the tomato paste, more of all the spices & 3 cans worth of beans instead of 1. Would make it more filling, stretch it to more servings & lower the price per serving.

Some of my favorite crockpot dinners are: Pulled pork (a pork loin, little water, and cook until it falls apart, then shred and add BBQ sauce), ribs (cut a rack of ribs, bought on sale, of course, into 1/3's so they fit in the crockpot, a little water, and cook until they pull away from the bone, then, transfer to a cookie sheet, slather in bbq, and finish in the oven on broil for 3-5 minutes), sweet-n-sour meatballs (frozen package of meatballs, 1 jar chili sauce, 1 jar grape jelly - sounds gross, but tastes GREAT! Serve over rice), lots of soups and chili. Crockpots are amazing!

Crock pot liners seem a good idea from a clean up perspective but they’re plastic and I don’t like using excess plastic if I can help it, so I will continue to wash up the pot and not use a liner... unless someone can confirm they’re recyclable? 🥴
@laurens77313 жыл бұрын
Was about to comment the same thing! They are most likely not recyclable (and even then the majority of plastic doesn't actually get recycled yanno, look up the stats! REDUCE comes before RECYCLE) so should be avoided where possible. I just don't see the need for them? It's already a 1 pot dish... Just wash the pot!

Agree with the dairy free and the southwest chicken! As for the dishes she showed in this video. A lot of the milk was used for the fat so subbing in coconut milk could be a good swap. Woohoo!! I’ve been looking for more “throw and go” recipes so dinner is ready when I get home from work! I’m a first year teacher and cooking after work is just not appealing to me lol.

It's never burnt or overcooked in the eight hours or more you're gone? And how do you know how long it all needs?
@TheKerryBerry013 жыл бұрын
@@angelika_munkastrap4634 I’ve never had a problem with it being burnt or overcooked. I choose recipes that take 8 hours on low... low and slow

Do you ever wing it and just chuck in stuff you've made up yourself, and see how it goes? My greatest fear in leaving something electric on and heating while I'm not home is fear of the house burning down or something catching alight. Has it never worried you?

Elbow macaroni - a big favorite in my house is "Spaghetti-mac". All you have to do is brown and drain a pound of ground beef, add a jar of sauce, a jar of water, a cup or two of macaroni, and then cook until the pasta is done to your liking. If the sauce dries up too much, just add more water.

That South African chicken really has Spanish or Cajun ingredients. Who knows where it came from but those are all ingredients could come from anywhere!

Cumin is an Asian or Mediterranean spice often used in those dishes is a staple in our kitchen because I do a lot of from scratch Asian and Mediterranean dishes. African dishes use different herbs and spices (had a friend from Africa who taught me how to cook traditional African dishes). I would name is either Asian or Mediterranean chicken and love this with a spinach tortilla wrap topped with some additional cheese. Love your channel and hubby loves your recipes. Just wanted to put in my two cents and say thank you for sharing so many amazing simple meal ideas.
