I like South African chicken, but that might be because I'm South African lol. Tbh though there is nothing uniquely South African about that dish. As for a name, maybe Sunday chicken, as a nod to the South African 'seven colours' Sunday meal.

We make the pot roast with a corn casserole, made out of whole kernel corn, cream corn and jiffy cornbread mix and they’re soooo good together. The sweetness of the corn casserole with the saltiness of the roast juice perfectly balance each other and it’s incredible

Southwest or Fiesta Chicken. I think I would use the full 28 oz of tomatoes, all the tomato paste, more of all the spices & 3 cans worth of beans instead of 1. Would make it more filling, stretch it to more servings & lower the price per serving.

Agree with the dairy free and the southwest chicken! As for the dishes she showed in this video. A lot of the milk was used for the fat so subbing in coconut milk could be a good swap. For cheese, that’s harder but nutritional yeast could be an okay swap. Using a nice broth would also help to round out flavor as well.

To church it up I also added Italian seasoning and 2 bay leaves during the cooking process along with about a cup of shredded parm at the end. Direct quote from my 10 year old picky eater: “This taste like a rich person’s soup. Like it should be in a fancy restaurant that you pay $20 or something.” 🤣☠️ My 18 month old also ate a large portion. Great recipe and apparently I’m going to have to make it for my son’s next birthday dinner… which is 8 months away. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 😂

Crock pot liners seem a good idea from a clean up perspective but they’re plastic and I don’t like using excess plastic if I can help it, so I will continue to wash up the pot and not use a liner... unless someone can confirm they’re recyclable? 🥴

Was about to comment the same thing! They are most likely not recyclable (and even then the majority of plastic doesn't actually get recycled yanno, look up the stats! We make that roast but we use brown gravy packet and ranch packet. And whenever we just put things together and we don’t really have a name we just call it “shipwreck “

OMG! I did that with pork chops for the first time last week. Except I only had an Au Jus packet instead of brown gravy. It worked just the same! lol

I absolutely love the name “shipwreck”! May our family borrow it for generations to come? With due acknowledgment of your genius of course! We love puns, word play, and home made creative phrases. Life is tough, as it is for so many, and being grateful, thankful, with laughter is getting us through. Thank you “A Claus”, you will never know how much your comment brought into a stranger’s life.

Love crock pots! My daughter picked up one when she got married, at the local resale store. An orange one from the 70s that is the mate to my sister's crock pot. The one we used recently to make the velveeta dip on for the Buffalo Bills game. Still works!

I'm a OTR truck driver and I am away from home 9 months out of the year, so cooking smart is very important to me. My $19 Crock Pot from Walmart is my best friend because I use it all the time and it hasn't let me down in the 4 years since I bought it, it makes cooking in the truck super easy and it always turns out great. I love your channel and use many of your recipes

Been OTR for 7 years now, and the crock pot was a game changer! Bulk cook for the entire week on a 34 reset and toss the Tupperware in at the love's.

The chicken is nothing like peri-peri chicken, so I agree this is not South African at all. My guess is that it was originally South American Chicken and somehow switched over the years as it absolutely has a lot of the ingredients that Americans associate with Latin American food. I humbly suggest Tex-Mex Slow Cooker Chicken or Mexi-Cali Slow Cooker Chicken.

My crockpot came from Goodwill several years ago and works perfectly. It doesn't have any bells and whistles either and I love it just the way it is. I like foods slow cooked like that because it gives food time to develop their full flavors. Yum!
