Probably the most credit goes to her coach Brian Diglio at North Rockland High School. He has mentored her since the 7th grade and has taken great pains to maintain strict discipline on the tract through her advanced training program. SuperBradC I'm far from an expert however I do notice that she runs like a boy would run and I think that it helps her achieve dominance over other girl runners who run like girls typically run. I actually believe that she has perfected this style, probably through the coach that is training her. The next time you watch one of her races just concentrate closely upon her running style and I think you will see what I see.

@Callinder5 жыл бұрын
This young girl reminds me of Mary Slaney (nee Decker) who came to my attention when as a 16 year old girl she was beating quality international athletes. Mary was a driven girl and trained *exceptionally* hard. She was of the opinion that the more she ran the faster she'd get. An example of her driven nature was highlighted when at age 12 she completed a marathon and four middle- and long-distance races in one week, ending the week with an appendectomy operation. Mary should have won the gold medal for the 3,000 metre, and possibly the 1,500 metre, at both the Moscow and Atlanta Olympics. Unfortunately the USA boycotted the Moscow Olympics and she tripped up in the Atlanta games. Because she was so used to running from the front, even in 800 metre races, she never got to grips with the tactics of running in the pack. As she got older the training regime she followed from her early career caused a series of quite severe stress fractures from which she never fully recovered. Katelyn has every attribute to become a great athlete with the right guidance which I'm sure she's getting.

Here we are on June 6, 2023 on the eve of the NCAA D1 champs. KT owns the NCAA records for the indoor 1500, mile and 3000 (breaking the old record by six seconds) and the outdoor 5000 which she set a few weeks ago (15:03.12), breaking Jenny Simpson's 14 year old record by three and a half seconds.The big question for the NCAAs is will she go for Simpson's also-14-year old 1500 record of 3:59.9; or at least the world champs standard of 4:03.5? Katelyn also has won individual NCAA championships in cross country, outdoor 5000, and indoor 3000 and 5000, and is the heavy favorite to double in the 1500 and the 5000 this week. If she does collect two more individual titles and set another record she will be for sure a legitimate candidate for The Bowerman and many will consider her to be the greatest collegiate distance runner of all time. What an amazing career which began over eight years ago when she was an uncanny pixie, a forest sprite in 7 th grade, who also proved to be tough as nails.
