Except that.... cross country is NOT part of the Olympics. It used to be. Maybe she could try other running... like the 5-10k.
@kaismithley61734 жыл бұрын
@@lovemetender9979 she does the 5k too, and mile, she had the 5000m high school record, which was equivalent to a guy running a 13:33 in high school, and her mile was like 4:33

She is so right about junior year being the hardest year, certainly was mine. I'm so happy for her that she is doing so well and overcame all those obstacles.

Wow, very good interview Rich. Definitely the most comprehensive interview I have seen anybody sit down and have with her. Been a pleasure watching her grow up the last couple years, very mature and well mannered (oh and fantastic runner as well!). Looking forward to the '2019-'2020 season and cheering her on next year during the Olympic trials. Go Katelyn!

The secret to her wining and staying out in front of the pack is simple. She takes very long strides in a short amount of distance. It's just physics. I'm anxious to see her in the Olympics representing good old AMERICA

John- It's a very controlled setting by Gatorade. Room is about 40' x 40' with roughly 20 athletes (the honorees plus the assembled pro athletes) situated on the perimeter of the room being interviewed by the roughly 50 media members assembled there. Not ideal, so we try the best we can.

Wow, what a kid. You have to give her parents a lot of credit. Your child inherits a genetic template (which looks to be nearly ideal in Katelyn's case), but you still have to put in the work. It looks like they did. They/she's skimming right along the threshold of over-training, but it appears they're aware of the risks and have it under control. At least until it isn't. I hope she's integrating some cross training alternatives into her life. It's also gratifying to look back over 3 years and see that she's gradually getting on top of the verbal tics that haunt her generation - talking at light speed, inserting the usual fillers and placeholders. She's still struggling with starting each answer with "yeah, ...", but it's declining. If that's her worst failing, everything's working out fine. "Science and math." YES!! Can always use more women. That and politics, to cut down on the ambient level of testosterone-fueled insanity.

I'm not sure if you choose the right university though 2020 olympics and although still relatively young this should be your main priority. You are right up there and can mix it with the best that's around now taking part would be an achievement in itself medaling should be your target from now on. Best a luck Katelyn everyone is now watching for you and would do anything to try stop your hard work time and energy that has gotten you to this point. I for one will be looking out for you until contract expires.

Looking at this interview you can see shes getting the smell of herself a bit and then she will be in college. The next few years will decide whether she makes it or not. When she starts college there will be a lot of distractions and a lot of guys and parties going on. It will difficult choosing between the social life and fully focusing on being a world champion.
