Thank you for this video. Your 4th suggestion really hit home for me. Thank you for not giving us so many suggestions that it would be hard to find some that would work. I love how quick and to the point your videos are. Thank you for all your resources.

I’m in college to be an elementary school teacher someday and this helps so much!! I don’t feel too confident because I feel like I didn’t learn enough from my Behavior Management class. So thank you so much for this video and I’d love if you made more!! :)

Thank you for sharing these steps with us. I have had behaviorists come in and set up totally unrealistic steps for teachers to follow. Your 4 steps are easy to implement and remember. Great advice that shows caring and compassion.

Glad you think they're easy to implement, that was the goal!

If you’ve really struggled managing a student and have run out of ideas on what to do, type IDEAS in the comments.

I love all the strategies that you shared! When I was a preschool teacher I used most of them but I feel like it is a little harder being in kindergarten where the day is at a faster pace because so much is expected to be done in one day!

Thank you for these strategies! I have a couple of friends that could definitely use the goal strategy during station time. I plan to utilize all of these.

I'm sorry that this is 2 years late, but I have an idea for you. Don't take away, replace. In the event that you have to take away something from a child even if you the teacher avoid getting struck by the child remember that idle hands are the devil's workshop because that crying can lead to the child doing something else that involves bothering other people in the classroom. Back when I was a young autistic school student, when I had my do nothing periods and I got overwhelmed, I got disruptive and threw others off task and in the event some of them would pick on me and belittle me. Again, don't take away from a child without refocusing them on something else and that is if you want to not have a class thrown off task.

I have a question about setting behavior goals with rewards. What do you do for your students that have great behavior most of the time? Do you give them rewards also? Do you have a reward system? Thank you for your help. 😊

Yes, absolutely those that have great behavior should be rewarded! I know a lot of teachers really like the jar reward system where any time a student is caught "being good," the teacher puts an object in a jar, like a marble let's say. When the jar is filled up, the class earns a reward!
