I stopped my neck pain by sleeping with a travel neck pillow. I got a smaller one that wasn't to bulky and snaps closed so that when I turn over it stays around my neck. I still sleep on a regular pillow with it wraped around my neck. I think it works well because it fills the void around my neck giving me great support. I had pain on one side of my neck from behind my ear down to my shoulder and at the base of my head. I would awake to neck pain and headaches almost daily. I told my aunt one day and she recommended the travel neck pillow and I am so thankful. My neck pain has been gone ever since.

@@terrik8581 just a basic neck pillow that wraps around your neck and fastens with a snap or velcro so it stays put when you turn over...the brand I am using is bcozzy...google it. I actually bought a smaller one so there is not to much bulk around my neck....you want to still be able to lay your head down against a regular pillow while wearing the neck pillow. You are really just filling in the space around your neck for support. It will keep the curve in your neck when you sleep on your back also. Maintaining the curve in your neck helps with pain. You can also try wrapping a towel around your neck for stability but you will need to find a way to make it stay put while you are sleeping.

Das Schlafen auf dem Rücken ist gut für den Körper, da Sie in dieser Position weniger Druckpunkte haben. Sie müssen jedoch darauf achten, dass Ihre Knie, Ihr unterer Rücken und Ihr Nacken richtig gestützt werden. Es ist nicht gut, wenn Sie schnarchen oder an Schlafapnoe leiden.

7.25 made me chuckle. I'm 55 and have had chronic neck pain for years. My husband just the other week told me to sleep like you showed. All my life I've been sleeping wrong lol. It helps quite a bit :)

I have a migraine and sinus issue. So i use the 8:28 method. Really help a lot and cheaper. After i got some money, i bought the ikea pillow. It worked perfectly fine.

Very good info. I am a side sleeper with large breast. Been having shoulder impingement and neck pain. Saw a video on adding a small pillow under upper/rib cage areas, which leaves a gap for shoulder relief/ somewhat. I do use a memory foam contoured pillow. Also using pillows to prop up my arm to keep from leaning forward. Any other tips would be appreciated 😊

Glad I watched this, as I have recently started sleeping part of the night without my pillow to try and help with my neck pain. What about for those of us that change positions throughout the night though? I usually switch between sleeping on my back and sleeping on my side.

Do people really just sleep in one position all night? I rotate from my left side to my back and then on to my right side and back again. I probably go through this rotation 10 times per night. I'm doing this because I can't stay comfortable in any one position for long. I flop around like a landed fish. I suffer from numbness and tingling in the finger tips. When I finally do fall asleep this wakes me up again.

What about keeping your shoulders back underneath your ears? Modifying your pillow still seems to keep the shoulders rounded in when you lay on your back. Trapezius pain right behind of the left side of the neck pain?

Bout 12:45 your showing proper back sleeping w/pillow... Rolling a towel placing it under curve of lower back... Will this give a better support alignment??? Or spine in neutral position???

I’m stomach sleeper always has been. Was raised by my grandma and she would always say roll on your stomach so you can go to sleep and it always work work to this day. If I’m on my back I jump a lot or wake up easy. If I’m on my side feel like I’m overthinking a long time before I go to sleep. So I want to know what’s the positive + negatives to sleeping on my stomach and is there correct way or good billow adjusting for it? Thanks

What about if you have mild sleep apnea with chronic nasal congestion? It’s terribly difficult to rest; and I have a contoured pillow.

Why actually it is a bad thing to have your head pushed forward a little bit?, when sleeping on a pillow (or a little bigger pillow) when you lay on your back? I think maybe it is not a problem because in the night your muscle/neck is relaxt, like your legs are also in a unnatrual position when you lay on your side, it doenst mean that you have those leg bent in the day right!? :) So I am not sure if it is a problem for posture to have your neck relaxt! in the night but a little bit forward. Maybe it is more muscle training to have your neck nice troughout the day. Like training the muscle more then having it in a certain postition in the night. When you sleep on your side your but is also a bit to the back. I dont think you walk like that right in the day? Or your arms are to the front, you also dont walk like that trough the day. hehe But maybe I am wrong ...

Please, please, please answer my question. I can't find an answer anywhere I am a stomach sleeper but I sleep without a pillow ( so flat on my matress ) and my face to one side, so to the right or to the left. I keep my hands ' down ' or up depending on what I feel like. Is this a bad posture for a longer term basis or is it ok? Im 24 yo Thanks in advance

ThannK You SO MUCH for this video, I have a 16 year old who has hip issues and I believe sciatica maybe some scoliosis as well, waiting for the doctor to tell us about x~rays. He sleeps on his stomach with a pillow and has the curvy hunch forward. We have been working on core building and posture correction with stretching and such... Anyhow ThanX!

I was around 25 when I had huge pain in my neck. I changed a few pillows. Once I was to my grand-mother and she told me "may be your pillow is high" so i started sleeping with a very thin pillow and the pain went away! The elder people are wiser ;)

I fall asleep on my side & wake up face down, I can't help it. Sleeping on my back triggers fast digestive issues for some reason. You don't address face-down sleeping at all, so I can't give you a like.

I am a side sleeper, until I fall asleep.; from there, I roll to my back and end up waking up with a stiff neck. Never able to find a pillow for side & back sleepers until your 3 towel roll suggestion!!! Can't wait to try it tonight!!

I always make sure to inlcude my shoulders on the pillow so my neck wont be flexed. Flexed neck can make you snore. As a recovery nurse who deals with airway all the time, it is better to have the neck on neutral or slightly extended like you're sniffing the morning air, so your airway is "open", and less chances of tongue obstruction.

I found a pillow that was perfect, after I realized my previous pillow was too thick and my chin was down. With my current pillow I sleep exactly how you describe it here, one pillow just over my shoulders. Basically mostly supporting the curve of my neck. It reduced headache and neck pain I used to get after I wake up from naps.

So glad I came across this video. I had been experiencing back neck and shoulder pain and stiffness on my right side. I’d do stretches, ice packs, and hot showers that would relax my muscles. I’d still wake up with the pain and stiffness. Thank you for clarifying which positions work and don’t work. I will try the towel in pillow to support my neck.

My many years of stomach sleeping have caused so many neck and limb numbness for me. My chiropractor said if causes severe nerve compression in the spine and I have definitely noticed this. I am now training myself to sleep on my back. Look up the fort method for back sleeping. It is really comfortable. You basically make a cross shape on your bed and use one pillow for head and neck, 2 pillows for arms and 1 pillow under the knees.

I noticed when I slept with 2 pillows if my neck was tucked in it altered my breathing while sleeping I would struggle to breath, trying to wake up to change my position. 1) It's bad posture 2) Alter's your state of breathing NOT GOOD!!!

I could not get which pillow give better sleep for neck pain. I have been suffering in neck as well as lower back pain for last few years. I have tried all types of even expensive mattress and pillows, but non of them was helpful. I do the yoga exercises for back and neck pain, that helps little bit, but at night no what mattress or pillow I sleep, still I feel pain in my neck and lower back and my next and lower back is severe stiff and tense in the morning. Would you please recommend me any mattress and pillows which would help me sleeping at night without pain. 🙏.

I’ve completely modified my pillow. I bought a child’s pillow. Rolled it up. Put ties around the ends so it stays rolled nice and tight. Then added snaps at the corners and the center (me being ocd about it lol). Tuck it in a small pillow case. Turn it over so snaps are on the mattress side. Good to go. I struggled with my pillow for years until I figured this out. Tootsie roll for my neck 😂

I can’t believe I actually used the rolled towel method instinctively to sleep when I have neck and shoulder aches. It just feels so good. Talking about side sleeping, it’s really ostracised by those influencers who are into anti-ageing. They discouraged side sleeping, which is so comfortable and natural (like foetal position in the womb). These influencers promote face up position but it’s really uncomfortable (at least for me).

Oh man this was exactly what I was looking for. Neck ache for days no matter what pillow I used. Gonna start using the position with the pillow on the upper back. Also... That trick at about 8:18 with the thumbs up and you waiting for the lower third to fade in post... That's some serious filmography skill man. Really impressed, gave me a chuckle.

I use a cool gel memory temperperpitc pillow small side some times large side sleep on my left side for digestion issues cradle left compress disc sometimes back to ease off shoulder pain from compress disc fibromyalgia Arthritis tinitis With same cool gel memory foam leg pillow for lower back compress disc fibromyalgia Arthritis restless leg syndrome tail bone injury pain. Memory foam between the knees when on the left side very rare in right fir it upset the digestive tract lbs l have. All in cool gel temperperpitc memory foam mattress . As Belated MUM say l her beautiful mess .😋🧨🎇🎆🇺🇲

I WAS USE ING DOUBLE PILLOW, HAD PAIN IN LEFT SHOULDER AND NECK. ON DOCTOR ADVICE I STARTED TO USE SINGLE MEMORY PILLOW, I FEEL MUCH BETTER, BUT STILL NOT 💯 % SATISFIED??? WILL TRY TO USE NECK SUPPORT, AS PAR YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS. STAY BLESSED 🙌 😇

I am l4-l5,l5-s1 herniated disc patient with sciatica on left leg..what exercise should i perform sir..two disc on lower lumber is totally black and had nerve compression..sciatica on left leg..what should be the exercise?flexion or extension?can you help me sir?i am just 30..i am stressed with this problem sir.

@@Activchiro yes i have watched most of yours but many times i got trauma while working on these two disc..so case may differ..so i am in dilema whether to perform flexion or extension.what would be the best sir??

Been a back sleeper since i got pectus surgery 10 years and it has it fair share of drawbacks as well. Snoring, apnea which i developed over the last year, dry mouth waking up but i guess its the best way to sleep i heard.

Excellent video and demonstration. I just confirmed the answer to my head position as I have developed two degenerated neck disc. It has giving me a humming sound and ring in my left ear for a while. Thank you!

I always sleep on my side,and move the pillow till it supports my neck....Works for me....❤❤

Thank you for the video and good advice. I use a C-shaped travel pillow turned backwards (the wrong way round), so that the two ends form a hollow that (sort of) cradles the back of my head. I've slept on this cushion for many years, and also use it to sleep on my side, though I don't sleep right on my shoulder -- I have a small cushion that I wedge against my back, so that I sleep partly on my back, partly on my side.

amazing ! going to try them all and get a memory foam neck pillow. I messed up my neck and sleeping positions from getting so many different ear piercings over the years and putting my head in strange positions to avoid my ears.

Interesting the last line about Feather pillows not being recommended. In Europe traditionally 90% of pillows have been feather based. Before that for poorer people stuffed with horse hair. Even today feather pillows are very much in use.

I had a bad neck injury a while ago and my doctor recommended I get a neck pillow so I can sleep without hurting myself. After shopping around, I found the That Neck Pillow and it works wonders!

What if I have pain in my upper back (Trapezius area) after sleeping? What causes that? I feel like I shrug my shoulders up when I sleep but I honestly have no idea why. I have a newish medium mattress and recently bought one of these neck pillows...

Very helpful thank U! But the music is too loud. for me it doesn't make sense to have background music when explaining somethig ,or teaching. Maybe it suits the reading of poetry, but i find it disturbs concentration and even "competes" with what is being said.

I have the second memory foam pillows u linked but from a different brands. They used blue n white foam inside instead of all white. But I don't see that help my neck at all. I even tried to make it firmly n balance but still didn't helped.
