Fat tire is not better, only heavier and hard to service.

The EU limit of 250W is for continuous rated power, not maximum power. A Bosch Performance Line motor has a maximum power of 600W. I guess the Shimano motor won't be much different. Additionally the hub motor has a fixed gear ratio. No wonder you don't feeld much difference.

in my city in Canada, there are more and more commuters riding these ebikes with fat tires who never peddle. they ride on the sidewalks, cycle paths and have little considerations for others. to me, these types of ebikes should be licensed, insured and be riddened on the roads.
