When I had a bike stolen, locked to a stand at the local golf club, the thieves took the stand and the bike and loaded them into the back of a van and drove off. People witnessed the theft, but no one took down the number-plate number of the van, and they were never caught and I never got my bike back. If someone REALLY wants a bike, a lock is of no importance. GOOD VIDEO.

I put an airtage underneath the seat in the cover panel hidden away. Ik where my bike is at all times. Also i have 2, 18mm hardened, aluminum alloy, steel thick chains i lock my bike too. I tried cutting it with a cutter the other day to test it out, it took me like literally 10mins to cut halfway through one of the locks. Which is generally enough of time if you're going quickly into somewhere and right back out. Even if they had time and could cut through the lock, they'd still have the airtag to worry about

@@matthewaldrich6455 I’m planning to do this as well. Did you remember to disable the speaker in the tag? Also, I’m going to put the tag inside the plastic controller box out of sight. Good luck!

Sorry about your bike being stolen. Yes, it's true that a lock will not stop every thief, but locks have probably stopped a lot of "potential thieves". I have a Foldy Lock and Three,,, count'em THREE motion sensitive alarms. The alarms will sound at any motion of the bike and finding and eliminating one alarm will leave two more still squalling. I don't plan to leave my bike locked up for more than a few minutes at a time anyway.

I am 55 years old and I haven't ridden a push bike for about 30 years. But I have started to feel the gentle nudge in the ribs from Health and Finance. So I am getting a bike. Things have changed a lot in 3 decades, so was looking for tips and ideas. I now have added to the list of things I need, and when I choose them I can draw on your advice. For my seat post I just swapped the quick release to a regular bolt so you need a tool to remove it. From my experience if someone brings a tool for theft they are gonna bring a tool to defeat a lock so they can steal an entire bike, not just the seat off of it. Bolt actually didn't cost me anything so win there for budget value. I also do not carry any weapons/pepper spray for self defense. Technically where I am it is illegal to do so. I do not live in the USA.

Great video the cushion for the rear rack is genius, I have a Duotts C29 that came with a rear rack, my (teenage) kids refused to sit on it, but with a cushion and some of those foldable foot pegs, they'd probably be fine on there in an emergency, I had taken the rack off after a day or 2 of never using it and took the rear/brake light and zip tied it to under/behind my saddle so I still have lights.

My e-bike is a folder. Can take it with me inside where I’m visiting and fold it up close to where I’m setting. In some cases it will fit under the table. One other thing that I like about a folding bike is simply that it’s much easier to hide. In a TSHTF scenario, I can fold it up and hide it under something like a dense group of thickets.

I'll probably want an ebike sometime, but in the mean time I'll use my Dutch bike. (I really lucked out with that one). These products are cool, but a lot of them aren't super necessary for this kinda bike. I think one way of going about it is a more minimalist way. I've got a rear basket with a rack rated for 80kg and a front basket mounted with a single bungee cord. It works, and I don't have to worry about storage for anything specific like my backpack, lock, water, and lots and lots of groceries. The handlebars are drawn back and upright without much on them. The frame lock, hold on... I'm reading this back and it looks like I'm just bragging about my beat up bike. The seat is very much stuck and it weighs like 80 lbs. I guess my original point was that I think about buying accessories differently. No hate on your video.

I really enjoyed your video and I don’t even have a bike. Maybe some day I’ll get one. Information is valuable and your video is very informative. When I was growing up you could ride your bike anywhere and leave it out front unlocked and never have it stolen or tampered with. There really were, “The good old days”. I’m 79 now and need a little help. My legs just don’t have the strength they once did. I never knew there were so many gadgets for a bike. Hope you do an update as things change. I’m looking for my last bike.
@Funcentric
@Funcentric 4 ай бұрын
@@georgeloveday9674 Thanks for the kind words. I would just warn to stay away from a torque sensored bike for your situation. It would require much harder pedaling. I have a friend that hurt his leg (he’s in his 60’s) and much prefers a cadence bike. You’ll hear a lot of myths about how torque is better simply because they are in higher end bikes. Don’t fall for that. A cadence sensor bike is indeed less smooth but only because it requires user input to coordinate the assist level with their own cadence and the bike’s gears. Requires a lot less work and won’t remind you as much that you are riding a bike. As a last bike, definitely don’t get a lectric brand. You deserve better. And also you’d want a physical place to be able to service it even though their online customer service is superb. Aventon sells bikes through physical stores which means you won’t end up with a bike that can’t get service and your brakes likely will not squeal when you get it which 90% of all budget e-bikes bought online suffer from. Keep it easy. Stay safe. There are some KZbin channels dedicated to seniors riding e-bikes. I don’t recall the names but I’m sure there’s valuable relevant content there for you.

Yeah, this is probably an old video but I’m that guy that you were talking about earlier. I have just purchased my first Jetson bike. The brand of it is a you know Jetson but it’s the.J5 Version of the Jetson electric bike I love it. I wanted to go faster. I’m definitely on a budget. This video is very interesting to me because my bike right now is naked and of course I want to add stuff to it and of course I’m gonna budget. I just wanted to thank you for making this video, because looking for these things is not easy and I rather learn from other peoples mistakes as opposed to my own mistakes because if I wanted to learn from my mistake, I would have done the shunt mod already and I’m nervous about doing it because I don’t want to generatea lot of heat to ruin what I just purchased so yeah, like I wanna power my bike up first before I add all the accessories my bike is amazing I love it. You already know about the speed thing and if you have any advice about how to do the shunt mod correctly with the Jetson, they had other options like the Bluetooth application of the Jetson, but I would have to add the Bluetooth because they stopped making them and I just got my 2024 in August so I’m fairly new in this. I got a 350 W motor. I want the 750 W rear motor. I wanna upgrade the battery upgrade the controller and do the Shunt mod and have everything on a 72 V system. This is the way I’m looking at it so I don’t have to go through the my bike went on fire or my bike started smoking. No, I don’t wanna go through that. I don’t wanna play with my bike I don’t wanna play games with it And get it done the right way it seems like you know a lot about the electric bikes. If you have any advice for me, please I live in a city too the bronx great content and thank you for the video. Please reply if you can.

Some very nice accessories you have found. Do you know if a set of turn signals could be set up to operate as a string of 6? So 2 for the front, 2 for the back & 2 for a trailer? Since they are cordless, I am wondering if the signal from the handlebar control would reach to the set on the trailer? Thank you.

Great video and thanks for sharing. I own an Lectric 3.0 and my wife has the Lectric trike. I purchased a front and rear light for the bikes and discovered the hard way that I will never use a rubber holding device ever again. The first time I put the rear lighhts on that held the rear lights the rubber part broke and so I am now stuck with 2 rear lights that are useless, but I didn't buy them for the rear lights I bought them for the bright front lights which came with better attachments. My friend had cancer and he was not to ride a bike for over a few months. Are the cloud-9 really better than the standard seat that comes with the lectric bikes??? I recently bought better rear lights with signals, alarm & signals. Because the rear basket has flat pipes in the middle I feel I will be able to drill small holes in the basket and mount the new light directly to the basket. Any suggestions for the front and rear baskets as far as mounting other utensils?? Again many thanks for sharing information.

@@glong2720 I have never tried a cloud 9 saddle but people swear by them. As for mounting the accessories to the front and rear baskets, it would really depend on what you’re trying to mount to it. You c vs a reinforce rubber mounts using zip ties as a backup.

I really like that Juiced ripracer and I was thinking about buying one, but I'm 6'2" and it looked really cramped in length. I did some research and it was a little shorter than my wife's Lectric XP lite which had a shorter wheelbase than the Lectric XP 3.0. I ended up buying the XP 3.0 because of size, but I really wanted that 52V. Is it a small as I think it is, or was I right to get the Lectric? Don't get me wrong, I like the Lectric, but that ripracer is a cool bike.
@Funcentric

Rip racer is better made and a much better performer. No contest. We’re talking about a 12 year old company vs one that’s only been in business for a few years. Lectric is a budget brand. Juiced is designed for performance. My friend is 6’-0” and wishes the handlebars were slightly higher but likes the rip racer otherwise.

If you have any tips for speed I just ordered a new 36 v 20ah for longer rides.
@Funcentric
@Funcentric 4 ай бұрын
@@massterrbarber 36v is below the standard at least in the USA for an ebike. I don’t know if you’ve seen my other videos about how to choose one. So you’ll need to be realistic about the bike. You won’t be able to take serious hills on a 36v system. If you are purely looking for speed, the easiest mod is to change out the chain ring for something bigger. That’ll allow you to go faster with the gears it has but at the expense of being able to take hills as easily. Increase in speed and range don’t go together. One or the other. To gain range, you need to take it easy in the throttle and help pedal as much as you can. 20ah is fairly large size as far as capacity. It’s too early, but you can eventually overvolt it which will require a new 48v battery, new controller with all the proper connectors and then a replacement throttle. Not worth it for most. E-bikes aren’t really made to mod. You just want to get the best one you can afford and just enjoy that. Pouring money into an ebike won’t make it worth more. Consumers do t want to buy custom modded bikes generally.

Top tip for you for your grips use a flat head screwdriver and some hairspray a wee scoosh and it'll slide right off! And do the same scoosh abit in the grip and on the bar ends and slide it back on to give it a good grip hold to the bars! This what we done as kids in the 90s early 2000s on our bmxs and downhill racing bikes! Works a treat id probably still be doing this if grips weren't lock on now! Best thing ever! Don't use ipa itll remove paint and melt the grips or worse make them brittle! I use it for 3D printing cleaning if it gets on anything rubber or plastics or painted items it ruins the paint and structure of rubber! Don't use it please not for inside a grip! You need this to be safe

Great information. What ebike rack (with a ramp) would you recommend. Thanks
@Funcentric
@Funcentric 7 ай бұрын
I don’t have much experience with bike racks other than a traditional one I owned decades ago and more recently the KAC K4. It has all the features including it being lockable to the hitch and each bike itself is also lockable. Meets the weight requirement for my e-bikes and is expandable from 2 to 3 to 4 bikes. It also can angle out to make clearance for the rear hatch to open. I got a crazy deal when they accidentally priced it wrong for less than 24 hours. Can be expensive at regular pricing though. It does not have a ramp. For a ramp, you’ll likely be getting a motorcycle rack which doesn’t have space for each individual tire. It’s more of just a flat surface with four edges. I believe harbor freight has something but you’ll need to buy a ramp separately.

The blue bike i built myself 15 years ago. I just loved it enough to keep it and revive it. The yellow bike I wanted for 8 years. The brand Juiced is now gone as of a couple weeks ago. So it wasn't bought on a win. I had my eye on it for almost a decade. The white cargo bike is for the family. So it's recreation, but also does have some utility. Avoiding parking/traffic, etc.

@@Rustaci nope that function would be built into the controller. You’d have to replace the whole controller. I would stick with a regular physical lock. You’d need that anyway. An electronic lock is more of a secondary lock. I suppose you could hook you a second switch somewhere along the power wire that’s hidden. That’s probably your best bet if you’re looking for something like that. You’ll have to splice wires and stuff.
