Lewin, this is generous. I've learned an awful lot from your videos, they have been easy to follow and I immediately apply your advice. It's made my home recordings much better and more enjoyable to make too. I don't know if I'll enter the contest but I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you.

Great idea for a contest! I still have my old Tascam 4track.

Me too. I will have to go back and go through those songs and try and redo one like a modern cover.

Gonna enter...been making music for 20 years and band (Fear 2 Stop) has new album coming out tomorrow....but all our cuts are usually very complex with a lot of tracks, so this is gonna be an exciting challenge!

I’m gonna try and enter with a song I wrote and perform with the band I play in @The PsalmBirds but have yet to record! We’ll see what happens ✌️🤞

Ping ponging in a digital realm will have more advantages than in the old four track tape format. one of them being stereo track. Also how many times will you allow to ping pong a track as the audio wouldn’t really lose as much clarity as it did back in the day, well not to my ears anyway.

Am I allowed to use Logic for this? Edit : Ok I read the comments and found out we can use Logic :) What about using Kontakt libraries? Are we allowed to use that? Or say for example LABS by Spitfire Audio. They are midi instruments.
@dunnjavit3 жыл бұрын
Not sure I follow. If you are allowed to ping pong or bounce tracks down, you could end up with a huge project entered...which kind of defeats the idea?.... ......just bounce 8 tracks of guitar to one track, drums and percussion to another....vocals and backing vocals to another and then bass and keys/synth to another......Bosh!...32 tracks down to 4
@GaragebandandBeyond3 жыл бұрын
Well sure..... but GOOD luck making it sound good!
@mon_nobi3 жыл бұрын
true, im a bit confused. "pingponging" sounds a lot like merging the tracks, and if that is the case then the song essentially becomes much more than just 4-tracks. i think it would be better if we could use literally only four tracks no merging/pingponging BUT you could use whatever third party plugins you want on those 4 tracks. Just makes a lot more sense to me, but hey whatever!

@@GaragebandandBeyond True...that's the challenge.......Not knocking the idea....Its is a great one. Look forward to hearing the results. MD

Hi Lewin! So, you’ve allowed to use autodrummer - does it include GB’s loops (like drum loops)? )
@alexlx2853 жыл бұрын
Oh, and did you mean to use ping-ponging just once? Or otherwise technically it’s possible to merge the whole bunch of tracks in one ;)

Can't wait to do this Lewin! Not sure if you've already answer this question but does the master track count as one of the tracks?

Well..... since you can't record anything onto the "master track" I will say no it doesn't count as one of the tracks.

@@GaragebandandBeyond thanks Lewin! One more question do you have any videos on how to use the ping ponging method you were mentioning? Im not sure how to actually do that. Thanks!
