Thanks Lewin. The irony of this video was not lost on me - your being uninspired itself gave you the inspiration to make the video! Great advice regarding moving to another hobby or interest when the steam has run out of creating or playing music. I find inspiration in specific areas comes in waves. When I feel lost in my music I go to the garden, cut the grass or pick fruit or maybe do some cooking. Enjoy the model planes.

Thank you for sharing this... We all need to hear it :) Know that tons of your videos have taken my abilities on GB to levels I couldn't have imagined... I couldn't have done it without you ... Keep on keeping on

Thanks Lewin! Sometimes you feel like your doing all this for nothing but if you can create music and inspire one person it’s worth it. Love singing and playing. It has never left me. It’s just a part of me that will always be there. It also helps to get together with other people that play so that’s what I plan to do. Thanks again for this video! Cheers!🍺🍺

I’ve really been struggling because I’m grieving the loss of my dad. I’m going just give myself the space to not create. Thanks for this video and sharing your process. It’s really appreciate.

Hey Lewin, it is always nice to see humanity shine! I've been a subscriber since 2019 and you've helped me with Garage band soooo much. Sometimes I feel the "what is it all for" feelings, and have days where nothing works right, and I just stop, go do something else. My primary inspiration is just to see if I can do it. To be a one man band, arranger, musician, engineer, producer, etc... and hear the same song over & over a million times to make sure it is good enough. Sometimes I have to walk away from it, but I feel, to have these tools to create music, I owe it to something, or someone to keep at it. There are days where I can get lost in time and be in the zone and everything just flows, and hours just fly by. That's my inspiration. You are on such a higher lever of professionalism doing so many things for other people, I can see where you would get overwhelmed. Thanks to your help, (and other You Tube home recording channels), I have managed to post 30 songs on my You Tube Channel since Dec 2019. ....I just wish I could sing.... Thank you man!

Hey Lewin, My lack of inspiration comes from being a crap musician mostly. In fact, this is inspiring me to create a channel about making music if you’re crap like me. That’s got to touch a whole load of people hasn’t it?

Wise words. I've learned a lot from your channel over the past few years, enabling me to record and release an album using Garageband. So a big thank you for sharing your knowhow and inspiration. Peace!

There's one thing to impératively know : Even if we're feelin uninspired we must struggle to create and finish as many tracks as we could.

Hi Lewin, I appriciate your sharing of feeling uninspired. I’m pretty shure that’s the calm start of returning into creative and innovative mood. Have a nice day! Cheers from Denmark, John

As an antidote to lack of inspiration, remember Picasso's observation: "Mediocrity borrows, genius steals" - a saying repeated and keenly embraced by a Mr D Bowie.

Man I feel so low right now, I get up every day and don't even get dressed. The scariest thing is I feel worse every day. Made a video about a week ago, but generally haven't picked up a guitar in months. :( I wish there was something I liked to do, but there's nothing :(

I’ve been searching for some other than Pete John’s that uses GarageBand! Been using it for a year and feel pretty good about the output. Imma binge on your vids if you don’t mind☺️

Given the state of the planet at the moment - Covid/climate change/political and economic unrest (no wonder billionaires are queueing up to get into space!) - it's not surprising that underlying anxiety is gnawing away at artistic creativity. It's the zeitgeist. But, if your problem is more a question of a simple lack of ideas, or inspiration, then do remember that all artists have had to deal with exactly the same 'brick wall' moments. Even the best of them. Leonardo Da Vinci used to squiggle random inkblots onto paper, hoping something might suggest itself to him as a possible image, while in contemporary music terms, artists such as David Bowie (using Brion Gysin/William Burrough's 'cut-up' method), and Brian Eno (Oblique Strategies), have employed various means to help generate ideas or suggest alternative routes forward. One simple method, used by 1970s singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan (remember him?) was to scour the newspapers for human interest stories which then could be worked up into songs. John Lennon famously composed 'Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite' by almost directly transcribing the words of an antique circus poster he had on his wall. Or, as Lewin sagely observes in this video, just get your bike out on the road and clear your head.

I get burn out easily. I have so many hobbies and passions, and I can't juggle them. I'll hyper focus on one and do not even want to think about the other. One thing is for sure, they always come back around. With music, a change prolongs my interest. Could be a new guitar or technique. You have taught me so much about GarageBand and appreciate your time and talent. However, it might be a good thing for you to slowly work some logic videos into the mix since you have been using that and liking it lately.

As an attempt to inspire you: 3.2K subs to go and you're at 100K. (AkA "Earthling" - YT cancelled me). :-) So, even if I was inspired, I couldn't get it out there! LOL

Unlike you, Lewin, not to respond to your youtube comments. (at all, to anyone on this one). I hope you're doing ok buddy. Even though you're not producing, knowing the shit you've dealt with in recent times, it would just be good to know you're doing ok. Sometimes, Lewin, people you have never met (and likely never will) do connect enough (perhaps thru the music) even on youtube and the like, to concern themselves with your wellbeing.

I try to respond to all of them, if I missed one apologize. All is well here, just super busy doing other things, but yes I will come back to YT. I'm waiting for 100k subscribers

@@GaragebandandBeyond Good, glad to hear it. No use waiting for 100k though Lewin. I doubt you'll add while not uploading content. However, virtual reality isn't as important as reality so, as long as the latter is hunky dory, all's well. See you when you eventually get back.
