I kind of feel like it's important to over-prepare with snacks If the passengers end up buying 50 gallons of soda...that means ALSO stopping every 2 seconds for restroom breaks ...restrooms that happen to be right next to vending machines or stores _(EVEN MORE SODA)_ So ultimately you're not driving your family ... you're a truck driver--constantly picking up and "dropping off" soda 😂😂 But if you pack your own drinks and ration then...it nearly eliminates the entire delivery business 🎉🎉

I've found that over the years, I've gone from the over prepared "Everything but the kitchen sink just in case" sort of road tripper to almost the "survivalist" sort. These days it's basically just a water, an energy drink, maybe some mints, and a couple of outfits packed into a small bag and I'm good.

I'm the other way around. I used to be the survivalist for myself. Now I have kids, so I have to overprepare for every possible situation. Because they always end up needing that one thing I forgot to prepare for. 😜

​@@faolan2174ditto, without the kids. When I was in my 20's,I'd throw some prevacid in my jacket pocket and go out for the night, not knowing where I'd end up, which was typically someone's couch. A planned trip was a grocery bag with a spare shirt, a pair of boxers, and a stick of deodorant. Now we have an entire travel tote that goes with us on a 2-night stay with trash bags, paper towels, seasonings, cooking spray, etc.

I'm the mom who used to drive from MD to IL in a day and ONLY stop when needing gas (and using the restroom at the same stop). That was before meeting my husband and having kids. Now, they all kill me with all their stops but when I'm driving I ignore their pleas to pull over to use the restroom for at least 45 minutes because every stop isn't ten minutes or less, it is ALWAYS at minimum 20 minutes. For some reason they still don't believe me when I say to hold off on drinking until I am at the 120-100 miles until the next fill up so that gas and restroom can happen at the same stop. 🤦
