What are your views on Hawkins model of consciousness? He states that 85% of people are operating on a level that needs pride (tranquilizing sense of self significance). Those who operate at a higher level supposedly don’t need to feel “above” others.

If evolution is correct: survival of fittest, covert sadism seems adaptive. It wasn't you getting destroyed, this time. You live another day.

All emotions have adaptive backgrounds. That's not saying much. As for the predominance of some emotion, or a mixture of emotions, providing a particular adaptive advantage, we would need evidence. Otherwise it's just one of the thousands of just so stories that rationalizes how something is adaptive en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-so_story

It's evident in the language, for instance: scha·den·freu·de /ˈSHädənˌfroidə/ noun pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune (I'm not getting notified of responses. Just happened to look here.)

@@joeshmoe7899 A german word. Reminds me on Nietsche, who would have likely told us that this is something that needs to be overcome by men.

I used to listen to your back in '09. I was always depressed back then. Since, Jesus has become my own personal Cure. I'd forgotten your sub for years, then today it popped up. It was kinda mind blowing remembering how dark everything was back then. Life is still challenging but the joy is REAL! I sincerely hope you find Jesus, that you come to realize HE is real and you can give people actual answers vs showcasing mere people who have no answers beyond their pseudo armchair. I don't mean to sound mean, just being candid. God bless you!
