Great video. It might be helpful to show what happens with some common wiring mistakes. I replaced my neighbors switches and the old 3 way switches didn't have a black terminal and because the switch was bad I couldn't tell which wire was which. Drove me nuts until I found your video. Turns out the wire I though was going to the light was not. Two of the three switches would work but couldn't get all three. Thanks very helpful.

I have a suggestion for a video, and really just a problem I'm trying to solve. I have an automatic switch for my shop vac that when I turn on a saw or drill press or whatever tool I'm using, the vacuum comes on after about a 3 second delay and then turns off about 8 seconds after I turn off the power tool. The problem is, sometimes I'd like to be able to switch on the vacuum without unplugging it from the auto switch to either clean up some stuff it left behind or just use the vac for another issue. I've been trying to come up with a combination of switches and receptacles with short cords that would keep me from bucking power sources. I think this is a video that a lot of people like me would like to see. I've been searching for a solution and can't find one on KZbin and I'm afraid that I don't have enough electrical knowledge to do it safely. Essentially, it is switching the vacuum between two different power sources. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Simple solutions?

Your illustration was excellent! Just curious....Why is a 4 way switch used when one only needs (2)-3 way switches to control a ceiling light whether entering/exiting from one side of the room to the other?

Well if you got three entrances to the room You're going to need a four-way switch

What if I wanted install a dimmer switch on a 4 way setup, on which switch would I put it on, the 4 way switch, or on one of the 3 way switches?

There are dimmer switches that will work on a 3-way set ups, Unless there are some new devices that work both legs of the switch, it will only dim if that leg of the switch is active. Consider installing a dimmer switch in the circuit that is coming to/from the load.

We have a tall shed w/ 6 sections (going up) as one passes from level to level we need to toggle the light of any level from any level. That means a bank of 6 switches on each level. The main pwr source is on the 1st level. We understand level 1 & level 6. How do we get the switched pwr to level 2-5 coming off the 4-way switch on the respective level.

If you switch the Blk and red traveler wire on the end. Will all the switches work regularly. Meaning, down is off and up is on?

Replace.... NO. If you have a main power feed going into that particular J-box you may be able to ADD a receptacle.
