Great analysis! I think it’s about the record label, and exactly what you said near the end, the lyric of “stolen lullabies” solidifies that for me. It’s the only interpretation IMO that makes the most sense with every single lyric.

The dead person is looking in on the people visiting her body (like checking to see who's mourning the loss of them) both literally and metaphorically imo

I think the 'tears ricochet' means that the tears ex shed before their death are now rechochited by the other ex. Expressing that they are guilty now and the hurt experienced by the protagonist is now being richocheted (mirrored maybe)by their ex who is crying at the death of the protagonist/ the death of their relationship with the protagonist. The tears/grief is touching the ex too.

That's how I read it. Maybe the person took their own life in their despair over their ex leaving them and shutting them out and now the ex is playing the hurt one after she is gone. Thus her tears ricochet.... (the pain placed on her caused her action which in returned caused his pain. )

I just found your channel and I'm already obsessed. Taylor Swift's lyrics lend themselves to this kind of deep dive analysis because they have so many layer to them. I love that you explored more than one possible interpretation because at the end of the day it could be all of them, it's about which one resonates with the each person the most. My take is that Taylor did write it as a metaphor for her stolen music but I like to think of it as a song about the end of a relationship, a marriage that ended badly. The great thing about art is that it can mean many different things to different people.

And you can aim for my heart, go for blood But you would still miss me… I love the fact that if you stop this part of the bridge here, the word miss would take the meaning of failure to aim but she adds "in your bones" you know she is talking about longing for someone. I love this so much. For me, MTR is about her past ex lover ghost 👻 gather to her lover sunlit event (celebration/wedding) can be weeping because of happiness and for the narrator she is weeping for death of her relationship. I believe it for Karlie's ghost and Taylor's ghost talking to each other. Both are hurt because the end of their relationship.

After having a husband with an addiction blow up our life and then he died from the addiction… I did wear the same jewels that he gave me when I buried him. He didn’t have it in him to go with grace. I’m still dealing with the aftermath and cleaning up behind him. In the end I had to leave our home for my child to not be around any of that, but still loved and cared for him until the end. I feel like this song is him and I singing it to each other, as he passed.

This song is very interesing and compliacting because the lyrics can be taken as literal or metaphorical and or could be interpreted from both perspectives. I actually think taylor wanted this,the lyric are very spesific but vey versitle at the same time. "If im on fire,youll be made of ashes too" the person x could be hurt so much so by the actions of y that they killed them metaphorically,or the same could be thought by the person y. The person who ended the relationship could be hurting the same as the person who was left. They could be feeling the same emotions,saying the same things. But at the end,one is dead metaphorically and the other is dead because the other k1lled them. The person who actually took the action to end the relationship,could be hurting the same. There is no one to blame at the end. No one is wrong. And this song is very real to me because of that! (Sorry for writing mistakes and a very over the place explanation but i hope i could get the point across.)

If it’s about ghosts/spirits the tears ricocheting could be considered rain because there is a song called holes in the floor of heaven (not by Taylor) the holes are clouds and the angels are crying so the ex the is metaphorically dead or truly dead is an angel and is crying because they thought the other ex really meant they were dead to them but in all actuality it was said in anger and the ex still loves the other ex

This is about a crazy 🤪 lady who commits suicide out of spite when her husband breaks up with her. Then haunts him as a literal ghost. The husband is incredibly spineless, so immediately doubts himself rather than move on with his life. I find the song funny. It is over the top and both lovers are terrible people, so you don't feel bad for them. =================== This is likely a reference to the idea that paradigm-shifting information gained from psychic transmission cannot enter human consciousness: "And when you can't sleep at night (you hear my stolen lullabies)" Thus, she needs to have the information she wants him to know be hidden information. Which can be inferred but is not explicitly mentioned. Kinda like how she is a crazy 🤪 lady who commits suicide out of spite when her husband breaks up with her is hidden information in My Tears Ricochet. Inferable, but not explicitly mentioned. Taylor has the unusual (but not exclusive) ability to go into a trance-like state where her Unconscious does most of the writing ✍. The narrator is not gifted at this, so she needs to steal the work of others, rather than invent her own messages with hidden information. Presumably her spirit body for her ghost form disintegrates eventually and she is dragged into the arche-dream. Or has her soul claimed by the source of the Evermore for their nefarious intentions, using their ivy-like grip on her, as she presumably has no redeeming qualities.
