Great informative video Tony. I am always learning something new. For live sandfleas, I like to hook them through the "digger". They seem to live longer that way

thanks for the very interesting video. I have no problem. Attracting fish with sand fleas. Now catching the fish is another story! I never have tried your methods so I’m hoping that going under an out the hard area on top will help hook those fish. By the way, mentioning another company’s product was a classy move.

@FishGum4 жыл бұрын
I don’t use the soft ones because they are hard to keep on the hook. Do you have any suggestions?

As a user of FishGum I’d suggest a square of FishGum/soft flea/another square of FishGum. Basically a sand flea sandwich to help hold it on.

The way I was taught to hook a sand flea was actually the opposite, instead of coming out of the shell, go through the shell first, exposing the hook point where the eggs are carried, the reason for it, is because a lot of fish will pick the eggs and leave the shell so that way you have more of chance to hook the fish. But I enjoyed your video, headed to Melbourne/sebastian tomorrow and I'm going to give your techniques a try. Thanks for the tips, can't wait to get my hands on some fish gum!

Question: Is it really necessary to use Braid Backing just to Beach fish for Pompano? I would think that a 30 lb monofilament on a 5000 Penn Battle Spinning Reel tied to a bought Pompano rig set w pyramid weight is adequate.
@FishGum11 ай бұрын
I would back with mono and add 150 yard of braid for longer casts. Mono on first, finish the spool with braid.

I must be doing something wrong because I've done it this way multiple times and when i cast it out 50% of the time the flea flies off when I'm casting....

Thank you so much for the info. I have luck using sand fleas, however I believe I have been making a mistake by using a circle hook, I see you are using more of a "octopus" style hook. I want to increase my hook ups. Seems the fish are hitting the eggs, and missing the hook, in my situation. Thanks again.
