Suggestions for new videos 1. Do a comprehensive analysis of fin types, combinations, sizes, pro and cons and the general science behind them. 2. I dare you to do a video on potential surf locations in SA :-)

great video! what i miss in all the surfing tutorial videos - and also all surf videos for that matter - are some core surf techniques that are hightly underrated but are a must know: basic getting out there, whats the inside and its advantages (quicker waves, better for learning tircks), how to protect yourself when going over the falls, how to get out of a wave after ridding, paddling to get in a wave, paddle to get out and its differences. how read the waves, the timing, the sets...tricks to untangle a leash, proper paddling posture, board positioning under the body (sometimes we must center differently when paddling out and paddling to catch wave...) pretty much this basic stuff, i guess would very nice for beginners and intermediate surfers.

*Video idea:* Terminology is often something that mystifies people in the beginning or when they start doing something new like surfing and being armed with a little knowledge and understanding about it can go a long way in peoples confidence when trying to do something new. Perhaps a video that goes over all (or at least the stuff a beginner would need) the terminology in surfing such as words describing the waves (eg. "Fat", "Section"), maneuvers, etc etc. Not sure if this channel already has a video like that, but just thought I'd throw this one in the hat 🤙🏼

I usually use my 5'8 twin fin in times of small waves. Do you like twin fin? What's your comment on twin fins? Thank you!

I love twin fins. If you enjoy surfing yours then stick with it, but if you have the chance to mix it up, try a quad or thruster and see how they go!

Great video mate. You are surfing that board really nice. That's a relatively small board for you size (especially for fish/ small wave board). You make it work great and the video explains it really well how manage this. Do you like to ride higher volume boards too? A video on mixing up volumes for the more advanced surfer could be interesting, I mix it up alot.... cheers from the UK
@HowtoRip4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Thomas. I don't personally mix up volume a great deal, perhaps I should! How are you mixing things up with volume?
@coastncountryedits6804 жыл бұрын
@@HowtoRip I can vary volumes up to maybe 8 litres. Sometimes I increase volume when I know il be riding a left (my backhand) for more flow. Frontside pumping you get more instant speed. I find extra volume really helps backside linking turns. I will increase volume to get into heavier waves early. I like the feeling of displacing more water on a bigger board and drawing out turns more. Il go to my lower volume to mix things up and try more progressive turns all the time too. I think there is quite alot to be said about board design and how you match your own approach and style accordingly. I think your video does explain that well too at the start.

You talk about the seaside but you show pic of go fish twin.. A beet confusing those who don't know both of them. I have also the 5'2 seaside. Definitely quiver killer small medium mushi wave. Thanks for the video
@HowtoRip4 жыл бұрын
True, but the footage of the go fish still shows a similar outline of boards that go well in small waves. The video isn't about the seaside anyway, just saying that style of board works for me and others in smaller waves. Thanks for the feedback Oshri!
