Love the video. Using arms, compression to extension and where you look is where you go are all things that I will try to remember when surfing next. Could you please show more smoothstar training drills which incorporate bottom turns to top turns, cutbacks to re-entries. Cheers Thanks, Steve

Nice work ! One tip for everyone, try to focus one thing at a time when you go out there, might be overwhelming to try to integrate all those elements into your surfing, baby steps work best. Having a specific goal in mind when you go out is how you progress

Surfskate training (any tricks like cutback and so) -it'll be more clear to see what to do so i can progress in the water. Also land training that i can do to improve my surfing (except exercises and surfskate) so again i can understand better what and how to do the manovuers (off the lip, cutback , snaps and more)

At 5:43 and the slow mo version at 6:02, could you talk about these late tale offs where the wave is crashing on your back? When I go for these, i nose dive or get thrown over. Is this just a mushy enough wave?
@HowtoRip4 жыл бұрын
It was fairly mushy, but no doubt later take offs can be trickier. Timing and speed getting to your feet might help!

I find that when I'm on a wave I don't know what to do when. Any tips on fixing the timing of when to perform a move? Like how do I know I'm far enough in front of the pocket to do a carve back into it?

I would recommend some sort of surf skate, there are a lot on the market. Carvers, etc...They are a great way to improve in times like this

I think guys are watching too many videos on what size board you should be riding and what they see pros riding. It's ridiculous. By forcing yourself to ride a board way too small, it's going to F up your style. Stick bug and butt wiggling. Also there are guys with narrow stances and wide stances. A wide stance surfer on on short board 2" smaller than that sharpers suggest, it looks horrible.
