Method 1 is possible to do in continental knitting too. Just hold both ends over the left finger with a space between them (weave in end towards yourself) and vary between knitting the working yarn over and under the weave in end

omg this is unrelated to weaving in the ends but may I just say. the method you showed of catching the floats by wrapping it clockwise around the working needle is HUGE to me. I was just putting my yarn down and physically moving the yarn ball over my working yarn. this changes colorwork completely for me. Thank you!!!

Same. I knit a whole colorwork cardigan by twisting my skeins to catch the floats!

Thank you for this video. I think I've finally understood where I've been going wrong with this method every time I've tried it (basically I have been throwing the yarn tail the wrong way over the needle (as if I was kitting it) which meant I could never catch it properly)

These are all great tips to make ends SOOO much easier to deal with. You don't need to switch hands to do the first method as a continental knitter. That's the method used to catch long runs between color work, but just alternated every-other stitch vs every 4th or 5th stitch. I recently learn continental in order to more easily do color work, so in theory, being a continental knitter would make that method of knitting in a tail even easier...

I will try this, but is the yarn really getting caught and woven in? Or just following along the yarn , but under in a row?
@Bodille
@Bodille 2 жыл бұрын
This technique exists in a continental version where you can hold both yarns in your left hand and vary between going over and under the end while knitting. Much faster for us continental people.

Another way to do the two color ends (your examples # 3 and 4) is to weave in one end on your first row, then weave in the second end on your next row. This was a tip by Stephen West.

For those cracked fingers - super glue works well but you have to re-apply it every day till the crack heals. For cracking heals on your feet, use athletes foot cream. This works and it works well. I've been doing it for about 6 years now whenever they start to crack. As you get older it seems to be an ever present problem. As for the tutorial, thank you so much for all the information. I can't wait to try it!

Hi Nat I use your 2nd 2 colour version but … I weave in the first (old) yarn on the first row after the colour change, and then the 2nd colour (new colour) in the 2nd round of the new colour. I also like to tie knots but I know that’s also a controversial topic amongst knitters. I just prefer to know that it’s going to stay where I put it and not wriggle undone 😉

I learned this weaving method with Anne from Philosopher's 4 stitch or 2 stitch method Wool with VCR tapes -- that shows me how old I am! Lol. Sometimes I choose floats and sometimes I use the weaving method because they affect the fabric differently. But this is how I do my ends when doing stripes. Good demo.

Cant wait to try technique 2 for weaving in ends. I usually just knit with the working yarn and tail at the same time which does create a slightly thicker stitch for a little bit but this method is much better! How have you found this technique holds up in the wash? Thank you for sharing.

For dry cracked hands use vaseline. Not vaseline lotion but the actual original vaseline. It is amazingly quick to repair skin. I would put it on at bedtime. Let me know if you try it.

I crochet and knit and in both situations, I don't actually put the working yarn over my hook/needle. I swing my hook/needle over the working yarn and catch it in my hook/needle and pull it through that way. These videos are impossible for me to relate to without a lot of figuring out what that'd look like for me. Is there anyone who knits like me that does these videos or am I just weird? I'm ok with being weird. It works for me.

Hi Natalie, I just found your tutorial and it’s super helpful but I’m knitting a 2x2 ribbed temperature blanket that has a lot of colour changes and a 1x1 ribbed border so I’m wondering how I weave in my ends when doing rib….. is it possible? Hey Jennifer! You can use this method on a knit row or a purl row*, however, I’ve never done it with rib, as in knit and purl stitched within the same rows. I’ll link the purl tutorial for you. Maybe they can be used in combination? *Here’s the purl tutorial (it’s on IG): instagram.com/reel/CdDvl24Ai0B/?igsh=MTRxdHp5Y3FiYXprZQ==
