POWER SHIFTING - this is the way :D even if clutch is wearing a little bit faster when banging gears with clutch without letting off the gas, this is the best way to shift on mx start or grippy long straights. If you don`t agree with me or Derek, just call us a clutch killers :P
@danielallison402
@danielallison402 3 жыл бұрын
I think that it would be best at us not even used the clutch when doing this tactic only because as you say it would put a little bit of wear on the clutch whereas of just not using the clutch at all while doing the power shift but to each his own I have a 1990 Yamaha YZ80 and I hardly ever use my clutch when riding the only time I use the clutches to take off or when I'm stopping other than that I am just power shifting through the gears with no clutch

You forgot one…. One that I never heard of but it’s in the Kawasaki kx250f manual. "Return shift" means that when shifting up or down, each gear must be engaged before the next higher or lower gear may be selected. • To engage first gear from the neutral position, pull in the clutch lever and push down on the shift pedal, gently release the clutch lever, then release the shift pedal. • To shift up to the next gear, pull in the clutch lever, lift the shift pedal with your toes, gently release the clutch lever, and then release the shift pedal. • To shift down to the next gear, pull in the clutch lever, push the shift pedal down as far as it will go, gently release the clutch lever, then release the shift pedal.

@@reedtarted1932 Maybe in cars, but cars have different clutch’s and different transmissions. While it’s possible to skip multiple gears at a time in a car or truck etc, a motorcycle can only shift one gear at a time, so shifting without the clutch is fine.

@@reedtarted1932 a semi truck transmission is different from a car . If you choose to use the clutch you would have to double clutch to shift gears but that puts more strain on the clutch and will prematurely wear the clutch out and from my experience changing a clutch out of a semi is not whole lot of fun

The gearbox is setup like a sequential. If you’ve ever seen drifting you’ll notice they don’t change up with the clutch just because the gears are constantly meshed therefore they dont need to move at the same speed to get the selector into the next gear

At high rpm’s everything went well, never had a false neutral. So i should always get on the gas hard and only do power shifts at high rpm’s right? Thx for the video man

I never use the clutch in 15 years. With a few bikes. I only use the clutch for 1 gear. I’ve tried fluttering the clutch on hill climbs if I’m bogging out. I don’t really like that. Seams pointless to me. Just need more power for the hill climbs or speed and proper gear. Using the clutch to shift is pointless. Waste of time and effort honestly. Over complicating the process. The 3rd method is interesting more of a motocross racing technique. I’d say the 3rd technique is hardest on the clutch and engine. But when your racing who cares about parts of it makes you faster. Could also launch you into a nasty catwalk. 😂

completely false, Sequential transmissions can be shifted indefinitely without the clutch and it won't damage the gear dogs or shift forks. If you believe that the force of your foot pulling up on your shifter without using the clutch will bend the shift forks than what do you think about when the bike falls on the shift lever hard enough to bend the lever? Or what do you think about street bikes with quick shifters and auto blip downshifters? they won't ever use the clutch... Or any cars with sequential gearboxes (rally cars, Hillclimb cars, etc.)? The amazing thing about sequential transmissions is that they don't use the actual gears to interface and initiate a shift, They are actually always in contact and just slide back and forth on the main shaft and the counter shaft, letting the strong, hardened steel gear dogs on the side of the gears do the work. It would be quite the thing to manage to wear them out lol.
