Monty and Willow decided to start a new family so they pushed their baby out of the nest box and refused to feed the baby. I am now handfeeding the baby. Today he explores his new cage

Oh the baby is so cute 🥰 . We observed the same. Mom started plucking baby's feathers, sometimes still try to. But now that we have separated babies from mom dad and put them together only when they are eating, they are less harsh than before.

I got 3 month old tiel, but he just sits and is not actively moving like this and exploring, it's been a week, he is not hand fed but i was able to tame him as he climbs into my fingers and my shoulders and let me rub his head and cheeks, but i dont know why he is not this active, i thought its just because he is still young but yours is definitely much younger

Today is day 3 since I brought my 10 week old cockatiel home. He stays on the floor of the cage and doesn’t move around much. I was told to expect this while he is getting use to his new environment. What concerns me is that he hasn’t eaten or drank anything since I took him home. Is this normal?

Hi, how is your Cockatiel doing today? Usually they may not eat for a day but beyond that is not ideal. Put food on the bottom of the cage and water and supervise.

They should grow back unless the follicles were damaged but there was no blood so I assume they were not damaged

If you know which parent is doing it you can just remove that parent and leave the baby with the parent that isn't plucking. Even more so since rhere is only one chick, the mom would have no problems being able to care for one chick on her own. But it also looks like it is able to feed itself so maybe it was just time for it to leave the nest box. A lone chick will develope and grow much quicker than a with a full brood of siblings. But if it were me i would try just removing the male and see how the lone chick and mom do on their own. It would also keep the parent birds from going into another breeding cycle right away.
