what I'm gathering from these videos is that the strategy in free-for-alls is to ally/pact similar sized neighbors once you're all kinda big, then sneak around, taking the islands, edges, or corners, anywhere you can pickoff little guys, avoiding starting any big fights. And in team games: don't have bad teammates lol

A lot of "teammates" are only teammates because they're not allowed to attack you but in reality are playing for themselves and only themselves. I think a much better mechanic would be to allow friendly fire so you win together, but you can attack, or even better, simply annex other territories.

I think they should make it where you can attack "around" the map, meaning if you are on the east border of the map you could then attack and boat across from the west border connected by the east land or oceans from the east directly onto the west border. Same for north to south.
