Improve Stupid Car Spending Habits that are Bad and big dumb dumb. Okay, so you’re already a disappointment to your parents and don’t want to listen to them since you’re in your rebellious phase, I get it. Me trying to tell you to not be stupid only reminds you of authority figures you hate, okay, Sad Boi, well guess what, here’s some advice instead. If y’all MF’s really gonna keep doing stupid shit anyway, then I might as well help make those decisions slightly less stupid.

@@AK.__ Oh trust me, I've tried giving actual Financial Advice...it's just that you must adapt your advice to your audience. You know how poorly my videos of me trying to give actual Financial Advice go? Exactly. At the end of the day man, Cars in general are just awful financially and all us car guys know that lol. So when you take that grain of salt, you have to adjust the advice for the people who still want to "Enjoy their life" as a car enthusiast. Otherwise my actual financial advice would've been similar to Scotty Kilmer or Dave ramsey which would be, "ENDLESS MONEY PITS!!!" Being a car guy is an endless money pit lmfao. I will become such a bore if I just give true financial advice while also maintaining a connection my mostly Car Enthusiast audience. That would make me become jaded and disconnected with them. I get it, they're young, so am I, we all want to live a little, but there are smarter ways to do so....even if the whole thing itself still is a little stupid. Cause like I said, no matter what, "We're all just endless money pits" 🤣

@@BladedAngel You basically very right here...need to adjust to target audience, otherwise it will be lost. Scotty is very dramatic, his content is good for people who needs the mean of transportation and not a car. My philosophy is; if I can't buy it in full and have some extra, I won't buy it yet. 25% of my pay checks go into a savings account, I pay for my bills and such, then the rest basically goes toward my car. I also never let my main account go under $1000. I have a list of mods I want to do to my car and I buy them as I get the the money, step by step. Although there are definitely times that I wish the process would go faster.

If you associate yourself / your parents to a middle class, the financing or loans - are your friends forever. Nothing wrong with it, cause simply we do not have large amount of money to pay for expensive item. PayPal’s 6 month 0% is awesome too. Obviously, it’s really similar to the pay 4 thing, just with two extra months. I try to only finance stuff when I absolutely need to, but I have used the PayPal program to update my wardrobe on an occasion or two when I didn’t necessarily want to be out $400 for something that needed to be done, but wasn’t pressing. Plus you have the added security that PayPal offers. Also I have been denied for pay in 4 programs before. Not sure what that was about. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Another thing people forget about paying off loans, especially car loans, is pay your monthly payment as early as you can afford every day that you wait to pay it is more interest. Paying your car loan even 10 days early can sometimes put 20 to $30 more on the principle, which is hundreds of dollars saved every year.

I followed a lot of the financial advice you gave and a lot from financial channels and I'm on my way to having a great score and I've now bought my dream car (Elantra N). It takes time planning and effort, but you can get there if you are patient and make the right decisions. So thank you Bladed. And to those seeking their dream car, I encourage you to continue to figure out what YOU really like while you build your finances. The Elantra N is not what I would have bought 4-3 years ago, but I drove other cars in that time and really pinned down what it was about cars that made ME happy. Happy hunting friends.

Tons of great info here and can absolutely confirm that credit cards is the better way to increase your score. Another tip, let about 2% of your total available credit limit (across all cards) post to your monthly statement before paying it off. Make sure to do this on your card with the highest limit so it doesn't hurt your cards available credit limit percentage. This helps show responsible usage habits but the key is "usage". If your balances always show as 0 every month, it's the same as not using the card so it doesn't help as much. Car loans are very important though if your goal is to ultimately have a dream car. You can't expect to be approved for a 180k car loan when all you've had is a 10k car loan. You have to build up to it by getting a larger and larger car loan each time. This helps show the banks that you can handle it and increases your chances of getting approved.

What I do with payments for something I want is tie that thing to an activity that I should be doing to hit a goal so that way it be employed as a reward. For example, if you're looking for a job then your goal might be to apply for 3 jobs a day. Each time you hand out an application, put a dollar in a fund for something you want. When you get a job then you can spend the money. I'm 125 days in (Yes, I journal it) to a goal and I've delayed buying some items I want that cost a few hundred dollars because I want to tie that item to a reward; it trains my brain for delayed gratification and the resultant increase in confidence and character that comes with it.

Pay-in-4 is possibly going to become a very, VERY bad idea in the near future. These "loans" are not currently reported to the credit agencies, but they are looking to change that due to predatory practices. They way they're talking, each P-I-4 will be considered a new opened line of credit, then when it's paid off, it will show as a closed line of credit... and if you know anything about how credit ratings work, this could potentially be disastrous. It still boils down to the age-old adage... if you can't afford it, don't buy it.

One good way to express the student loans realty to someone who has a hard time seeing any other option than College Is to explain that you really can’t get a job that can pay back your student loan effectively Without a job that requires a degree

Never took a student loan or went to school. Now in blue collar making 32/hr building a widebody genesis coupe. Not the most expensive car but have 2.9% paying 156/m for it. Built credit with my card and took a 2k loan out just to build it. Then 2 years later got my car for low interest. I agree alot of people don’t know what credit really is, i had no co-signers and worked my way up and got a cheaper sports car that’s got custom size Work wheels. And im not ever short on money. All about patience and building credit and cars at a steady pace. No sense pushing it all at once for “clout”

I overall never would never take a loan for credit or even use credit for payments even-though it’s the last resort, if I were to get a car I’m willing to start off with a 01 civic and modify down the line and take a whole lot of heat for it than to be in debt and being stuck

i financed my 2nd car at a dealer and it was like 27% and i wasnt informed enough to know what it meant and i saw the payoff price when i got home and it would’ve been like 20k+ for a car listed at 9500. it got totaled though so i got out of it

i'm pretty sure in europe you HAVE to show what's the annual interest rate (95% of interest rates land in between 0% and 10%) and usually most people go for the lowest (often 0%) interest rate and even 10% is considered by some as a scam

Thats why you are supposed to have good credit and use affirm to buy tire and shocks etc. at a 0% apr. Anyone buying stuff at 15% is crazy and I don't use affirm unless I can do 0% and qualify for a few thousands.

I can buy car parts in full but at times financing parts with affirm in a good idea to build your credit. Financing things for $500 is ehh but for something that’s 1k plus it’s not a bad idea to build your credit

Ive done a lot of the bad habits here. Not the like really stupid ones but yeah. But my dream car was a 03-06 z71 tahoe which is what i drive amd its awesome and slow but takes me anywhere with my intellectually acquired wheel and tire setup, 35s on 18s(i traded an ar10). If i have an itch to go fast i take my kawasaki z or my 72 c10 my parents bought me as first car.

When it comes to credit, I came from a lower middle income also but my credit was and still is perfect. Idk anything about it but it doesn't seem hard as long as you live within your means and pay it off.

i had no choice but to get a new car because my old one got totaled. My parents refused to help me get another used car so I had to get a new one (toyota corolla hatchback) for $29k at around 7-8% APR with a 630 score after that one loan for my old car was paid off. Sucks that it happened but I'm still glad I don't have that pos oil burning pontiac vibe anymore.

I'm on board with getting a newer vehicle. I want a Mazda MXR because lighter and good fuel economy and sporty if I could get it for cheap monthly to the point where even if I were to suddenly get laid off or fired I don't have to worry about not ending up missing paying a subscription that is the same as my phone. There should be 2 options for everyone. "Own nothing and have the privilege of using it and being happy or buying and owning something and having the right to it and being happy". However, there should be a restriction to what you have access to. Base and cheap products should be on the subscription and expensive products should be gatekept to those who can afford to buy them or make high payments. I'll put it in this perspective. A person who received their drivers license that can't afford a newer car that want something reliable should have the option to pay dealerships a subscription that fits within their monthly income that is the lowest trim package with the fewest features that has reliability such as a Base Honda or Toyota sedan. They are on a lease, so to speak, without a limit on how many miles they can drive it as long as they bring it into the dealership and only the dealership to have preventative maintenance done on it. The vehicle can be programmed to alert the driver that they need to bring it to the dealership before it hits a certain mile. Then there are those who can afford to buy the vehicle who should be allowed full ownership as long as they are making payments with no strings attached.
