black sparrow Well let’s see, he lives with his father indicating his birth mother is either separated or deceased. If she’s separated then the son being a part of his father’s marriage implies majority or total custody,Which means dad is protecting ,feeding ,clothing etc. .If the bio mom is deceased part of her job (and any parents ) is to ensure that after their death, their child will be raised in a stable loving environment ,which includes two loving adults. For instance saying “Don’t spend the rest of your life alone,I want you to be happy and share our son”.

I am a Stepmother. In 1988 I got the amazing honor of parenting my daughter who was 5 yrs old when we met. I cried watching this video because it's so true, they give us way more than we could possible give them. I'm honored to be her parent. Her mother was very gracious, allowing us to have her. Together we raised her. I knew my place though. I was Mom #2. No exceptions. I always got permission from her Mother before I allowed, hair dye, make up, dating, etc. Today our daughter is happily Married with 2 children and I am in 7th Heaven being a grandma. They LOVE me without end and that goes double for me. Stepparent or not. Congratulations to this amazing blended family. This young Man is going to be the best Big Brother to all his siblings, bar none! Thank you for serving our Country, brave Bride & Groom!

This made me cry. When my husband and I got married, his two boys, my stepsons, were his best men, and they were two of the four people to hold up the chuppah, the canopy over the couple's head at a Jewish wedding. We also made sure they signed the kettubah, the Jewish wedding certificate, though it's not the custom to have family do so. When I gave my toast to my new husband, I included a section to the boys, thanking for them for accepting me into their family, and telling them, that, without their acceptance, this wedding would not have happened at all.

Well I mean it often times has a weight of describing the other mother because more often than not the one that gave birth to you is still in the picture. It's more a distinction than anything else.

@@adopteddivide31 Why can't we just say that she is my mom instead of saying stepmother? I noticed that the society judge steps all the time.
